Sandi Shilhanek | Wish Upon A Book Store

In DeathThis week I had trouble coming up with a topic for discussion. Then I finally thought of something, and realized I couldn’t post it because of some technical difficulties…such as I wrote it at work, and forgot to put it on my memory stick so I could bring it home, and get it edited and posted. OOPS! Look for that idea next week. So, I had to start fresh and as I was chatting with an online friend she told me about the great books she was pre-ordering.

That chat sent me to Amazon to see what I thought would be a good title to preorder or to place on my wish list. I was amazed at the plethora of titles that I had no clue were coming! I’m now blaming this friend for my wish list exploding, and in the future my bank balance going out faster than it’s coming in!

Among the authors I’ve added are J.D. Robb, Beverly Barton, Nora Roberts, Robyn Carr, and Linda Howard. These are some of my favorite authors, and there titles will make it into my TBR pile one way or another. While looking I also saw upcoming titles by authors I’ve not read like Allison Brennan.

So, as the holiday season is approaching, are there some upcoming titles you’re especially hoping find their way to you? What are they? Is there an author you’ve never read, but who has a book that you’re hearing about and that is tempting you to read it? Inquiring minds need to know, and wish lists are waiting to be expanded, so tell all!

Until next week happy page turning.

Re: Sandi Shilhanek | Wish Upon A Book Store

I am such an eclectic reader and willing to try any author but...when I find one I like they become an auto buy for me. Some of the books I would like are:
•Chapman, Janet - A Highlander Christmas
•Martin, Kat – The Christmas Clock
•Roberts, Nora – Bed of Roses
•Kenyon, Sherrilyn – Deep Kiss of Winter

November 2009
•Adair, Cherry – Night Shadow
•Brant, Kylie – Waking the Dead
•Brown, Sandra - Rainwater
•Howard, Linda – Ice
•Miller, Linda Lael – At Home in Stone Creek
•Robb, JD – Kindred in Death
•Robb, JD – Missing in Death (In the Lost Anthology)

December 2009
•Adair, Cherry – Ice Cold
•Adrian, Lara – Shades of Midnight
•Feehan, Christine – Street Game
•Garwood, Julie – Sizzle
•Hill, Sandra – Viking in Love
•Hooper, Kay – Blood Sins
•Sands, Lynsay et al – Bitten by Cupid

Looks to be an expensive quarter but..well worth it.

I am an avid reader, and when I
know a favorite author of mineis
coming out with new book, I
ALWAYS pre order it! I am now
awaiting the newest release from
Veronica Wolff that I will get in
November! My all time favorites are
the historical romances ... ESP the
time travel ones! If you haven't read
"Viking Heat" by Sandra Hill, I
HIGHLY recommend it! I have found
many amazing authors here at Fresh
Fiction! Many of my friends are
eternally grateful to me for
recommending Fresh Fiction! LOL!
All the best to you, Sandi! I love your
blogs!

As I read these early comments I was greatly relieved to see that there was only one book that I think I forgot
to put on my wishilst....maybe 2. They were however titles that I already knew about and had intended to place
there, so I don't feel too awful. I'm just glad that thus far no one has suggested something I don't already
know aobut. I got into enough trouble yesterday perusing Amazon, and didn't need to get into that issue
again today!
(Sandi Shilhanek 10:43am October 18, 2009)

A number of the books already listed are on my "Must Buy" list. Also...
Elizabeth Hoyt - To Desire a Devil
Susan Mallery - Hot on Her Heels
Christie Craig - Divorced, Desperate and Deceived
Jo Davis - Hidden Fire
Lori Foster - Back in Black

I truly need a second job to finance my book addiction!
(Jill Hayden 10:48am October 18, 2009)

Well... you already know the damage I did to my wishlist/preorder list but some of the authors I'm looking forward to are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, Linda Howard, JD Robb, Lori Foster... I could keep going but needless to say my wish list just goes on and on and on....
(Debbie Wiley 11:19am October 18, 2009)

My wishlist is huge right now, but here are a few of the books I've pre-ordered or have pending:
Christine Feehan - Street Game
Shayla Black- Possess Me At Midnight
Sarah McCarty - Wild Instincts
Lorelei James - All Jacked Up
Shelly Laurenston - Mane Attraction
and far too many more to list!
(Lisa Guertin 11:39am October 18, 2009)

My list is short so far
Cindy Woodsmall- Hope Of Refuge
Kylie Bryant- Waking The Dead
but I know they'll be many more added.
(Theresa Norris 11:48am October 18, 2009)

I'll spend a couple of hours looking up on different sites what books are coming out in the upcoming months and print them out by what month they come out in title of the books and the authors name. That way when I go to the book store all I have to do is get out my list and hunt for my books. This way I don't forget when one of my favorite authors have a new book. I still by other books if the name of the book or the blurb sounds really good. Here's some of the books I'm going to buy when they come out or if they are already out when I get paid.
LINDA HOWARD - ICE
SARAH MCCARTY - WILD INSTINCT (was coming out in July but changed it to December)
LORI FOSTER - BACK IN BLACK
LORA LEIGH - NAUTI DECEPTIONS
JANET CHAPMAN - A HIGHLANDER'S CHRISTMAS
AND ANY BOOK BY JAYNE ANN KRENTZ.
SHELLY LAURENSTON - MANE ATTRACTION
That's just to name a few.
(Sherry Strode 12:16pm October 18, 2009)

Anything by Robyn Carr, Stephanie Bond, Catherine Coulter, Beverly Barton, Janet Evanovich and I just found some new authors that I like. JL Wilson, Denise Skelton, Kate Collins, Jennier Bentley to name a few.
So my TBR and wish list fills up fast!!! LOL
(JoAnn White 12:34pm October 18, 2009)

I look forward to any new historical since that's the only genre I will read, always looking out for new authors. But some autobuy authors have new ones coming out next month. Suzanne Enoch THE CARE AND TAMING OF A ROGUE, Lorraine Heath MIDNIGHT PLEASURES WITH A SCOUNDREL, Elizabeth Hoyt TO DESIRE A DEVIL, Edith Layton TO LOVE A WICKED LORD, Barbara Metzger THE BARGAIN BRIDE.
These are just a few November releases, haven't even looked at December yet!
(Shauna George 12:45pm October 18, 2009)

My boys always ask me what I want for Christmas. My answer is always an Amazon GC. Their buy 4 pay for 3 on certain books is great.
(Joyce Mandle 12:45pm October 18, 2009)

My list is HUGE!
Let's see I have for Nov:
Kenyon's BORN OF FIRE
Singh's BLAZE OF MEMORY
Shayla Black's POSSESS ME AT MIDNIGHT
Lorraine Heath's MIDNIGHT PLEASURES OF SCOUNDREL
Anna Campbell's CAPTIVE OF SIN
Joy Nash's SILVER SILENCE

Okay that's just a tasting.

hugs,WendyK
(Wilma Keel 12:49pm October 18, 2009)

I hesitate to add new-to-me or debut authors to my BTB list because I have such a huge TBR pile. But I've been hearing so much about Tessa Dare's book that I finally added her recently released trilogy to my BTB list. I've added her website to my favorites & her new trilogy to my wish list. Her stuff sounds really good!
(Karen Haas 12:50pm October 18, 2009)

there are so many book on my want list but this year have not had the extra money to buy. gena showalter, shayla black Christine feehan linda howard just to name a few
(Jennifer Mathis 12:56pm October 18, 2009)

Right now, my list is shockingly small but that is because the incoming books were so many last week. I really want to read Margaret Atwood's new novel. I have a gift certificate and I don't even know what to buy --- which is a first for me. So, great blog topic with perfect timing, Sandi.
(Merri Crawford 12:59pm October 18, 2009)

For the past 3 years I've managed to keep my wishlist at Amazon at 25. Well, the past couple of weeks exploded it to 48. Yesterday, I went in and printed out all 48 and then whittled it back down to 25--leaving only books I'd like to have someone give me for my birthday or Christmas. The rest will be library reads. Some of those that remained on my list are UNFINISHED GIFT by Dan Walsh, UNDER THE CAJUN MOON by Mindy Starns Clark, DIXIE DIVAS by Virginia Brown, SNOW IN JULY by Heather Barbieri, RED'S HOT HONKY TONK BAR by Pamela Morsi, CHIN UP, HONEY by Curtiss Ann Matlock, THE ACCIDENTAL BESTSELLER by Wendy Wax and THE GIRL WHO CHASED THE MOON by Sarah Addison Allen....
(Cindy Ferrell 1:12pm October 18, 2009)

Wish list would be Constance O'Bayon has a new one at the end of Dec. Elizabeth Hoyt's books, Shari Anton, Michelle Willinghams Anna Cambell, their is just to many to mention.
(Gail Hurt 1:30pm October 18, 2009)

My wish list is so big, if I bought them all, I would be bankrupt! But, I am going to get as many as I can:
Sizzle by Julie Garwood
Ice by Linda Howard
Deep Kiss of Winter and Born of fire by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Kindred in Death and Missing in Death by J.D. Robb
Viking in Love by Sandra Hill
Street Game by Christine Feehan
That is just to name a few.
(Patsy Hagen 1:46pm October 18, 2009)

I'm looking forward to:
Jo Davis' Hidden Fire
Laura Griffin's Untraceable
Nora Roberts' Bed of Roses
Linda Howard's Ice
(Summer Sharp 1:53pm October 18, 2009)

So many great titles coming out, a couple that I am really looking forward to:

Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh
Finding The Lost by Shannon Butcher
Kindred in Death by JD Robb
Street Game by Christine Feehan
Divine Misdemeanors by LKH
(Cathy MacDonald 1:58pm October 18, 2009)

On my wishlist I have Blackwork by Monica Ferris. I would really like to read it before Halloween!

(Lisa Garrett 2:50pm October 18, 2009)

Every year I tell my family to get me a gift card to the book store. I use the gift to catch up on all the books I didn't get a chance to read during the year.
(Sara Edmonds 3:50pm October 18, 2009)

I have a long list.
Mirage by Monica Burns
Three books by Alexandra Sokoloff
The Accidental Best Seller by Wendy Wax
Beneeth the Lake by Colleen Thompson
Seeing Red by Susan Crandall
Rapture, Volume I (The Prosecutor's Paramor) by Emma Wildes are books that have been on my list as I work through books by authos I know. I think most of the books by new authors I read are those that appeal to me when I walk into the bookstore or even the book section in the supermarkets.
Another source of new authors are the groups and newsletters to which I belong.

Ray
(Ray Getzinger 3:54pm October 18, 2009)

ok I love Beverly Barton but I must say you MUST read an Allison Brennan. I won a book from her in a contest and was totally hooked. I have now read all of her books. They are very graffic in brutality but the stories are so compelling. Each book has old characters from privious books as secondaries. She writes like Brenda Novak, Beverly Barton, and Iris Johanson. I have become a forever fan. She has mayed my favorite list expand. I think Inow have 12 on the top of my list.
(Annetta Stolpmann 4:08pm October 18, 2009)

My list would probably be very long if I remember them all!! I do remember Nora Roberts Bed of Roses, A Christmas anthology by Robyn Carr, Debbie Macomber & one other author, another Christmas anthology by Jill Shalvis, HelenKay Dimon & one other author, can't remember!!! Whoops! Roxanne St. Clair has another book I want. As I said if I could remember them all I would list more. Anyway, you all get the picture. My budget only stretches a ways so some of them I may have to wait on or try to get from the library.
Sandi you always come up with interesting topics. I applaud you. Thanks for keeping the Sunday blog interesting.
(Donna McClure 4:50pm October 18, 2009)

Linda Howard - Ice
Anne Aguirre - Doubleblind, and Skin Game
CL Wilson - Queen of Song and Souls
(G. Bisbjerg 4:50pm October 18, 2009)

I can't wait for the new Nora Roberss one in her wedding trilogy, I also can't wait for Robyn Carr's new ones!!!
(Julie Harper 5:31pm October 18, 2009)

There are so many great books coming out next year and the one that I'm most looking forward to is the next in the Atlantis series by Alyssa Day.
Other authors that I have on my wish list are..
Nora Roberts
Sherrilyn Kenyon
Linda Howard
Shelly Munro
Christine Feehan
(Mary Kirkland 6:41pm October 18, 2009)

I honestly cant answer that. I am such a voracious and diverse fiction reader that I tend to like most books. I really like Robb's Eve Dallas series, and always want the new ones of those, but I hav ebeen given books I never heard of and loved them.
(Caroline Kolb 6:44pm October 18, 2009)

I can't wait for Linda Howards new one, Sandi. And Jayne Ann Krentz has a new one out before Christmas...I'm trying a new to me author now, Vivian Arend, and can't wait for Lauren Dane's newest...lol, there are SO many. Ordered Bed of Roses yesterday, so that's winging it's way to me...
(Melissa Bradley 7:45pm October 18, 2009)

I always have lodes of books on my wishlist! And my reading is really ecclectic, some of the books I'm look forward to:

Shiloh Walker HUNTER'S NEEDS Margaret Malllory KNIGHT OF PLEASURE
Susan Kearny RION
(Aemelia Manier 7:51pm October 18, 2009)

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on the blog. I try hard to think of things that would interest others
besides me.

I read through all these comments and am so glad to see that those people who read the same genres I read
have listed only things that I already knew about. That makes my wish list not groan under the added weight
and my bank balance a little happier!

I hope that eveyrone has a great week!
(Sandi Shilhanek 7:54pm October 18, 2009)

OHHHHH a book wish list! Oh my! I need to check out some of your and figure out where I can squeeze them into mine! Jen
(Jennifer Binford 7:57pm October 18, 2009)

Just some of the books on my wish
list:
Shayla Black- Possess Me At Midnight
Sarah McCarty - Wild Instincts
Linda Howard - Ice
Lora Leigh - Nauti Deceptions
Lorelei James - All Jacked Up
(Sue Ahn 10:41pm October 18, 2009)

Oh I have tons of books on my wishlist. I have all time favs I usually auto add such as Nora Roberts, Debbie Maccomber, and Sherryl Woods. There are several new to me authors oon the list and new favs - Lori Wilde, Donna Grant, Nina Bruhns. I read all genres in romance so my lists can grow rather quickly :D!
(Pamela Sinclair 12:15pm October 19, 2009)

I'm getting into the time of year when, sadly, my reading slows a tad. We're running around on the weekends to various fall festivals and walks in the woods before the cold keeps us indoors. I'm anxious for the latest Kylie Brant and a couple of Xmas anthologies.
(Laurie Damron 9:18am October 19, 2009)

Laura Childs
Carolyn Haines
Barbara Taylor Bradford
Debbie Macomber
just to name a few:).
(Robin McKay 9:19am October 19, 2009)

Sandi, I think you'll like Allison Brennan; I discovered her a few months ago at 1/2 Price and bought several of her series. We'll buy most if not all of the books on your list, but not necessarily new. Just bought the new Jodi Thomas and I'm searching for the latest Christina Dodd. Went to 4 different 1/2 Price stores last week with a cousin from Ohio, so I'm stocked for now lol.
(Ilene Pedersen 10:41am October 19, 2009)

MY list is way too long to post, LOL. Most of the books I want have already been listed by some of the other people who have commented before me.
(Debbie Beverley 11:23am October 19, 2009)

I have not read the Charlane Harris books, so I have put them on my wish list.
(Vikki Parman 4:30pm October 19, 2009)

I have so many books I want to read, way too many to post. I find myself going down the book isle picking up books and making mental notes to read them. Two authors I know I want to hit on their books are James Patterson's Women's Murder Club Series and Nora Roberts/ J.D. Robb books.
(Lisa Glidewell 4:59pm October 19, 2009)

I just purchased 5 books and still have over 200 books on my wish list. It is just so hard to keep up since I read so many authors. lol
(Paige Hollenbaugh 6:40pm October 19, 2009)

My list is too long, but I have an
advantage many don't. I help order
books for our library, so most of the
best known authors I'll make sure their
books are on the shelves. Best part, I
get to read what I want first. Those
authors we don't usually carry (we are
a small library) I'll pick up as I get a
chance. I just got a A CHRISTMAS
BALL by Ashley, Bryan, and Johnson
Saturday and can't wait to read it.
Also picked up DARK LEGACY by Anna
DeStefano. I gave up hinting for books
I want a long time ago. I just get them
when I want them. Unfortunately, my
TBR pile is getting very large.
(Patricia Barraclough 8:14pm October 19, 2009)

I have so many books that I am looking forward to...BED OF ROSES, A HIGHLANDER CHRISTMAS, TO DESIRE A DEVIL, and CAPTIVE OF SIN to name a few!
(Cheryl Castings 12:04pm October 20, 2009)

Here is a few I'm looking forward to Black Friday by Alex Kava,Sleepwalking in Daylight by Elizabeth Flock and of course any of Debbie Macomber's Christmas books.
(Cindy Boucher 2:24pm October 21, 2009)

Sounds like there are more new authors for me to try! I'm waiting, not patiently, for the new books by J.D. Robb,Jodie Thomas and Robyn Carr.
(Sherry Moran 1:11am October 22, 2009)

I like mysteries as well as romance. But today I feel like Halloween I want to read the Hetritic's daughter real bad right now! I now it sounds a bit out of sort on here but I am excited about it!
(Jeanette Huston 11:46am October 29, 2009)

I have over 150 books on my
Amazon wishlist( I tend to
order the ones that are buy 3
and get the 4th free) so that
my family knows what I need
for Christmas or birthdays( or
better yet a gift certificate
so I can chose the books). I
spend as much time reading
reviews & blogs as I do the
books anymore. I love the
paranormal romance and the superb new YA books by these
authors. Always glad to find a
new author or book to add to
my list.
(Lisa Richards 11:42am November 2, 2009)

Sandi,
You have picked some of my favorite authors. Like many others I'm on a very limited budget but these authors are on my must buy list!! Happy Reading!!
(George Zimmerman 12:17pm July 10, 2010)

There are a few authors I follow and order the books when the price drops a bit... Nevada Barr, Dana Stabenow, Carol Lea Benjamin each have new ones I'm waiting to get. I've seen so many books on this website that I would love to read but I have such a stack of unread ones at home that I can't justify buying ad hoc right now. My must-buy for a year or so has been Anu - The Nomad Years by Shabnam Vasisht. This is a biographical tale of growing up in India, follow-up to Anu - The Raj Years which I have. My husband promised to buy it for my birthday but forgot and got me something else. Then it was Christmas, same thing...
