Re: Ice Cold (1:35pm July 18, 2010):

Have a great time at RWA!

Re: Blown Away (11:21am May 30, 2010):

I usually read them as they are released because I don't have the patience to wait until they are all released.

Re: Live To Tell (3:37pm May 9, 2010):

I was going to my son's one winter night when we had a combo of sleet/snow and I wasn't about to drive with that. I love my grandkids but not at the risk of getting into a car accident.

Re: Big Girl (3:54pm March 21, 2010):

I don't remember my first adult book. I do remember my mom letting me use her adult library card because I was only allowed children and YA at the time. Yes I do remember reading Mary Stewart,Helen Mac Innes, Alistair Mac Lean, Victoria Holt, Gone with the Wind, and Mila 18.

Re: The Edge of Winter (12:29pm February 21, 2010):

The only one I can think of is Winter Kiss by Deborah Cooke. If you like shape-shifting dragons you'll like this story.

Re: Down By The River (11:36am January 31, 2010):

I recently started reading Laura Griffin and really like her writing.
I rarely do challenges because life is too short and there is so little time to read.

Re: Down By The River (12:12pm January 24, 2010):

I love series, you get to learn so much more about the characters. So I am definitely a series junkie. I don't always read them in order, I try to but I'm not bothered by them not being in order.

Re: Forbidden Falls (7:04pm January 17, 2010):

I am in the middle with technology. I am not a whiz with it but I am able to handle it.

Re: Rainwater (6:29pm December 13, 2009):

I agree with you Sandi.

Re: Dark Lover (10:59am November 29, 2009):

I have a keeper shelf and also boxes of keepers. For me a keeper is a story that I read and truly enjoyed, so much so that I can't give it away.
My first adult book was probably Mary Stewart or Victoria Holt. My first romantic suspense had to be Helen MacInnes. (I have definitely dated myself with these authors.)

Re: Kindred In Death (4:10pm November 8, 2009):

I have read all her in death books and can't wait for this one. My library does not even have this one but then they are in the process of almost finishing building a new library. I have enough books that I am content to wait for this one. I have Dan Brown's latest on reserve and I can pick it up monday.

Yes, I love series books like Robyn Carr and Suzanne Brockmann.

Re: The Promise (11:33am October 11, 2009):

I decided to go thru my TBR pile, like you said our tastes evolve as time goes by.
There were some I know I'll never read and those are going to the UBS but I found many more sounded really interesting.

Re: Lucky Break (7:58pm October 4, 2009):

In theory it's a great idea but I find myself getting lost in the story and forget about the chores.

Re: Table Manners (11:26am September 6, 2009):

I'm currently reading Red Kiss by Deidre Knight and yes I am going to be doing some house work.

Re: Red Hot Lies (12:32pm August 30, 2009):

I enjoy third person better, but if it is a well written story I'll read it.

Re: The Fixer Upper (12:47pm August 23, 2009):

Every person has the right to their own opinion, but I do resent the people who look down their noses at romance readers. I feel if they haven't read them they shouldn't critize. My dh sometimes makes snide remarks about what I read but I just ignore it because I know he doesn't read them. If he read them and then said it that would be a different story. One of the guys at work commented on how I just read romance. I said no I also read thrillers, suspense, mysteries and sci-fi. I didn't tell him that those could all be found in romances.

Re: Smash Cut (6:44pm August 17, 2009):

Sometimes when I am upset I will re-read one of my favorite books. I keep some books because I enjoyed them so much that I can't bear to part with them.

Re: Hot Pursuit (11:48am August 2, 2009):

Great topic!

I love my library. They have what books are available on the internet. I was able to check and see that they have 1 copy of Hot Pursuit and I am first in line to get it. They have one copy of Black Hills with 4 holds on it(I am #2 of the 4). I found this all out just by checking on the internet.

Re: Mackenzie's Legacy (12:43pm July 26, 2009):

I think that is why I enjoy books in a series. You get to see more depth in the characters and the secondary characters get their own story. Robyn Carr's Virgin River and Suzanne Brockmann's SEALS are another.

Re: The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society (6:33pm July 5, 2009):

I don't like saying that I didn't enjoy a book but I definitely recently read one that I didn't enjoy at all. I don't even want to mention the title here.

Re: The Warrior (11:23am May 24, 2009):

When it comes to books I am definitely a planner until I get to the book store. Then I have to try to control my impulse buying.

Re: Pretty in Plaid (1:25pm May 17, 2009):

I am usually early, even for work, but I do have a doctor who I always have to wait for,so for him I get there on time.

Re: Behind The Shadows (12:09pm April 26, 2009):

I went to the UBS store just this past friday night. I also like to cruise the online book stores. Nothing relieves stress like looking at books.

Re: The Accidental Human (2:42pm April 12, 2009):

If the book is written by a favorite author I will get it regardless of the cover, but if it is an author that I have never read, it could influence my decision to read it.

Re: The Secret Life of Bees (1:14pm February 8, 2009):

I'm dating myself with this answer. Years ago I read the Moonspinners by Mary Stewart. I really liked the book and was excited when it was made into a movie, until I heard it was a Disney movie with Hayley Mills. I wanted to scream. It was disappointing to see it made as a Disney movie.

Re: Obama (5:39pm January 18, 2009):

The last time I read one was probably when I was in school and that was a long time ago.

Re: Smoke Screen (11:36am January 11, 2009):

I am a cautious reader. So if I like a book by a new author I look at their back list to try another one that appeals to me. If I like that I try another.

You mentioned Sandra Brown, I like her writing and have read most if not all of her books. Well when Play Dirty came out I thought I really have no desire to read about this subject BUT I have liked all her others so I decided to start to read it. I LOVED it. It is really an awesome read.

Re: Thread of Fear (7:21pm January 4, 2009):

I work full time and have only a few hours to read so I read whatever I am in the mood to read.
