Women's Fiction

The young widower arrives ready to roll up his sleeves and build a place of worship and welcome, but he needs some help. And the Lord works in mysterious ways....

With her tight shirts and short skirts, “Pastor's assistant” is not a phrase that springs to mind when Noah meets brassy, beautiful Ellie Baldwin. The former exotic dancer needs a respectable job so she can regain custody of her children. And Noah can’t help but admire her spunk and motherly determination.

The pastor and the stripper: an unlikely team to revitalize a church, much less build a future. The couple has so many differences, but in Virgin River anything is possible, and happiness is never out of the question.

Re: Forbidden Falls

Will be so glad when this installment in the Virgin River series comes out. I'm ready for another visit with the people I've met there.

I guess I would have to go with the
"geeK" label as I have 5 computers
(but oly 2 really work!); an i-phone; 2
scanners; a digital pen; etc etc etc. I
have downloaded multiple e-books,
bot e-reader yet. I am not sure what
I am waiting on for that one -
probably confusion about which one
to get needs to clear.

I am not sure what where I would be classified. I love my Kindle, and am lost without it. I have PC Kindle for both my laptops.... it is okay, but not my Kindle. I had my Ipod stolen... and I miss it terribly... I tried a mp3 player.... but it got stolen too.... so I am without that now too. I do love the ebooks, they are so much less expensive than printed books, and I can usually read them faster. Doing my reviews it is easy to email the ebooks to my kindle and whip out a review. Now I am kind of in a slow spot. Sigh....

I run hot and cold - love my mp3 player, have multiple computers, but don't have a personal cell phone or a kindle.

I'm a mix of new and old school. For one I couldn't live without my computer, but then I have no interest in a kindle. I'd like an iphone or any other "smart" phone, not for calling or texting but just for the web access since I can't access my personal email at work. I do have a mp3 player and enjoy listening to the variety of music I've downnloaded, but I listen to the same 100 songs over and over and I'm too lazy to bother with downloading others. LOL. Just give me an old fashioned paper book though and I'm happy as a clam!

I tend to resist technology. I didn't seen anything wrong with writing a letter or listening to a record. My job tends to force me to at least work with current technology. I have 1 pc and an iPod, but I was the straggler in the pack when I got those. No laptop, no iPhone, no kindle or nook. Miraculously, I function quite well.

Techie is a name I got with my first computer class, outside of work, in 2004. They thought I knew a lot, but a demonstration and experts at hand for questions are key. I have a PC and a cell phone and upgrading to a smartphone this week and will go to the store for tips and direction. I tend to write on any paper available, edit and then save a copy in Word on the computer.

I'm not a techno freak. I don't have an Ipod or Kindle or MP3 player. I have to call tech for most computer problems.

Last week, though I became a tech by sheer desperation. I had to get a new modem on Friday. My tech couldn't come until Monday, so Saturday I was determined, and installed it myself. I was so proud!

I'm about as un-technical as you can get, and still make use of these modern conveniences. I have an mp3 player, but my grandson had to teach me how to download the music I wanted on it. Same goes for my computer -- any time there's a problem, he has to come and rescue me. I have a cell phone, but it's strictly for emergency purposes, and I don't ever use it to play games on. Though he has tried to teach me. About the most it does is it takes pictures of the inside of my pocket because it always turns itself into camera mode when I put something else into that pocket with it.

What I've heard of Kindles makes me kind of want one -- when they come down to about 1/3 the price they are now. . .

I have a MP3 player that I love but only for audio books. We have 3 computers but use very little really other than email but technology is amazing I just am too lazy to learn how to use it LOL
(
Barbs Ferris 2:15pm January 17, 2010)

I just joined the miniature technical world yesterday, when I got my first MP3 player. I have no idea as to how to load any music onto it. My friends will have to teach me that. Otherwise, I have a MacBook Pro laptop, and a cell phone. When it comes to taking pictures, I stick with the old-fashioned B&W film, and do all the work myself. The only digital camera I own is the one in my phone, and that's how I plan on keeping it.

I don't have an iPod, nor a SmartPhone, and don't plan on changing my phone, although I may get an iPod at some point in time. It depends on whether I can download stuff from iTunes to my MP3 or not.

Ain't teknologie grand?

I am totally techno disabled. I can't even put my cell phone on speaker! Think I've mastered the computer, so that is the extent of my abilities. I was sent an eCard to review a book I really wanted, and couldn't download it on my computer. Guess I'll have to go out and buy it next month.

I truly admire geeks!
(
Betty Cox 3:26pm January 17, 2010)

Hummm I'm guess I'm kinda in the middle. I don't get the "latest" as I like to wait for the "bugs" to be worked out first. But I have an MP3/Video player, an ebook reader(just got), my laptop, 2 other desktops, my cell phone, digital camera, camcorder, and so forth............

I think it's all good but still keep in mind that without it life goes on, and try to make sure me and the kids remember how to live life without it all.

hugs,
WendyK

I'm a wannabe geek. I love every kind of gadget there is! Until I had to quit working because of my health, I was fairly computer savy but, that was six years ago and technology has left me in the dust. Even my computer is five years old! If I could afford it, I'd have an iPhone and I'd Twitter, etc. I'd have an iPod too. However, a Kindle doesn't excite me because I like holding a book in my hand (I also like my daily paper). I have two Bose stero systems only because you can't add a CD player to the older one. Maybe someday I'll become a techie again.

Trudy Miner 3:44pm January 17, 2010)

I hate the way this website just keeps jumping around! Why does it do that? I just lost my whole comment!!

I do have a computer & a cell phone that is about it for my technology! The cell is rarely used as it is mostly in my purse turned off!! Love having a computer. My take is that people are too "connected" and not aware of the world around them. In fact, in the paper today there was an article about how injuries are on the rise due to people trying to text, talk on their cell and play games while walking!! They walk into things because they are not paying attention! Even though people are connected with technology I think they are loosing actually connecting with family and friends in person.
(
Donna McClure 4:40pm January 17, 2010)

Neither freak nor phobe. I love my computer & printer/scanner/copier & we try to keep updated on that but as far as all the other gadgets...well just don't have any kindle, iphone, ipod etc. Not really against them but my present financial status is.
(
Pam Nolan 4:41pm January 17, 2010)

I am not a techie kind of person. I have a desktop and a laptop and a cell phone and that is the extent of my tech stuff. I enjoy checking my email, and chatting on my online group. I love my books. I am not really looking to a kindle yet. I still love having my books to much to go to the kindle yet.
(
Julie Harper 5:29pm January 17, 2010)

Apart from my computer which I could NOT live without, I don't have any techno devices. I don't miss them & I really don't want them.
(
Mary Preston 6:19pm January 17, 2010)

I am in the middle with technology. I am not a whiz with it but I am able to handle it.
(
Joyce Mandle 7:04pm January 17, 2010)

I'm neither nor. I like new technology but have to wait till the prices are more reasonable than when they first come out. Simply a case of not enough money. Like I would love an e reader but cannot afford one at this time.
(
Diane Sadler 7:14pm January 17, 2010)

I am pretty techno savy, but I don't need the latest gadgets. I like to work with what I have for as long as it isn't obsolete. I think I might get a new computer in the spring if I have the money. By then the bugs should be worked out of Window 7.

Donna M, have to agree with you, this site jumping around drives me nuts. It didn't use to, so I wonder why it is now?

As to being a techie, that will never be me. We did just get a new laptop, but only because the old computer took forever to use. Its about 8 years old, so I guess it was time. Of course, all I do on here is read emails and visit a few sites. I do have an ipod, which I really like (and was free), but my account is on the old computer and I don't know how to transfer it to this one - sigh:( I have a cell phone, but its a Tracfone, and I bought it because I got rid of the landline. I'm not into a huge phone bill, so I won't be upgrading to anything else anytime soon. I like the idea of a kindle, but they cost to much, and I really do like having an actual book while reading. I'm sure someday, when prices are down, I'll get one.

So, that's about it. Guess I'm somewhere in the middle. And I'm sure my girls are more savvy, at this point, than I am:)
(
Amanda Reeder-erdly 8:14pm January 17, 2010)

I guess I am close to being a techie, but not quite...
Money keeps me from buying more toys! !:0
(
Brenda Rupp 8:29pm January 17, 2010)

I am ashamed to admit I am the Anti-Techi. I can be trained, like a monkey, to perform simple, repetitive tasks; but that is pretty much my limit. I do like books on tape, but I am very picky about who does the reading. When my husband gets into the 'its the latest, its the greatest' moods, I tend to run & hide. We have never been the first on the block to have something new without also having all the 'new' and 'improved' problems. I just prefer to wait until someone else de-bugs the programming. There is also a great deal to be said for the sheer comfort of holding a book and turning the pages.
(
Susan Driskill 9:59pm January 17, 2010)

I have a Blackberry, but will soon own an Iphone as soon I get my phone upgrade next month. I own a laptop and two desktops. I want an eReader as soon as I discover which one is the best for me. Anyone have any ideas?
(
Lisa Glidewell 10:59pm January 17, 2010)

I have love/hate relationships with both my cellphone and compueter, but I wouldn't give up either of them. I also love my Ipod.
(
Debbie Beverley 11:25pm January 17, 2010)

I depend on my laptop and flash drives! I finally got an iPod (reconditioned, they're cheaper!) for my birthday and it's great too. Although I think publishing is headed into the digital age, I'd still rather read a book. Not to mention that e-readers still cost more than I'm willing to pay, lol!
(
Ann Stephens 3:29am January 18, 2010)

i would be so lost without my Ipod, and my computer and cell phone.
(
Kellie Demarsh 12:43pm January 20, 2010)

I am still trying to figure out how to use my MP3 player but the one you have sounds great.
(
Joy Hoormann 3:09pm January 20, 2010)

If I had money, I'd have it all! As it is, most things are just pipe dreams. I do have a micro-MP3 player, still in its wrappings; I have no clue as to what to do with it. Kindles may be a long way away; I love the feel of a book in my hands. I can't afford to text or I'd have a Smartphone for sure. GPS is not accurate where I live and I can't afford it anyhow. I just recently signed up for Twitter but only use it on my computer. And I still love my daily newspaper, hot in my little hands. So what does that make me? A little of both?
