Suspense | Thriller

New York Times bestselling author Wendy Corsi Staub takes thriller writing to a new level with "Live to Tell", her strongest book to date.

Secrets can scandalize . . .

In a lovely suburban town just north of New York City, the gossip mill runs more efficiently than the commuter-train line. And in every impeccably decorated house, they're talking about Lauren Walsh. They say that nothing could be worse than being abandoned by your husband for another woman. They're wrong . . .

Secrets can shock . . .

All Lauren wants is to protect her children from the pain of her messy divorce. But when their father goes missing, a case of mistaken identity puts all their lives in danger, and a stealthy predator lurks in the shadows, watching . . . waiting . . .

Secrets can kill . . .

Lauren is about to uncover an unfathomable truth—a truth this cold-blooded mastermind would never let her live to tell . . .

Re: Live To Tell

Usually I don't cancel unless it's an emergency but when I have , it's simply delayed and I will get to it.

Had to cancel Xmas last year due to 14" of snow. Spend the day with husband & Yorkies instead of Grandkids.

I try not to cancel plans... do not like to...

I have missed out or had important events shortened. When my daughter was born in 1968 I was on vacation for a whole month awaiting her to be born any day. It happened early in the morning of the day I had to check in to a Navy duty station 150 miles away the same day. I got to see her then I had to leave.
The same thing happened when my granddaughter was born in 1991. I didn't even get to see her until several months later when I returned from the Mediterranean.
I haven't missed any book signings, but I did miss an obit for a local author I knew well until it was too late to attend the funeral.

Sandi, if there were interesting authors in my area, I would definitely cancel whatever I am doing and go to the signing! To me, that's a rare opportunity.

Yes! We were going out to photograph and the day just more and more overcast and then we got involved in this computer game we love and played it til 4am! Yikes! Well, hopefully today we will not be so derailed. Great blog, Sandi. I read Wendy Corsi Staub's book and it was great! Nice you got to go to her signing. Will love to hear what you think.

I was going to my son's one winter night when we had a combo of sleet/snow and I wasn't about to drive with that. I love my grandkids but not at the risk of getting into a car accident.

I Had Planned To Go To A Twilight Convention Last August But With Raising Two Small Boys And Money Always Being Tight I Had To Cancel My Plans. I Hate To Cancel But The Money I Needed To Use Just Never Came Through For Me. There Is Nothing Worse Than Being Excited About Doing Something Or Going Somewhere And Having Them Fall Through.

You know that old saying: Life is what happens while we are making plans. I think there have been times when we have all had to cancel out at the last minute due to circumstances beyond our control. At the moment I can't think of a specific but I know there have been some. We don't get authors in my area, some come to San Franciso & a few to Marin county but the ones that appear in Sonoma county are not ones I usually care about. Lack of authors I would care to meet is what led me to going to RWA when it was in San Francisco. I would love to go to another RWA event but it would almost have to be on the west coast.
I hope everyone is have a good Sunday.
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's & Grandma's.
(
Donna McClure 5:19pm May 9, 2010)

P.S. I'm glad that you at least got to go to the signings to meet the authors. I don't believe I've ever read either one of them.

Donna McClure 5:20pm May 9, 2010)

I can tell you a really spooky place. I used to work in a hospital. The morgue in a hospital at 2am. You really get spooked there.
(
Julie Swaney 5:22pm May 9, 2010)

I don't like to cancel anything unless there is an extremly serious reason
(
Julie Swaney 5:24pm May 9, 2010)

I married into a REALLY large family that we live 900miles away and when we are there thay plan thing back to back so we can be involved in as much family activities as possible while we are there and I understand that but that is when we miss the most stuff and are late to most things. I love my In Law Family but that drive me crazy
(
Vickie Hightower 9:22am May 10, 2010)

I try not to cancel. Especially if reservations are involved. In fact, I ususally end up getting there early and help set up. I also try to carry a book or Sudoku along in case they don't need help with the set up :>)
(
Karin Tillotson 9:41am May 10, 2010)

I hate to cancel, but sometimes you have to. Was suppose to go to a bday party this weekend for a friend, when the babysitter cancelled, well one lead to another and we stuck. Life happens, just roll with it.
(
Kathleen Schilling 11:25am May 10, 2010)

Have had plenty changes in plans. This weekend coming up is one. We were going to go stay w/a gf and walk Dover Int'l before Saturday's race. Well, David got sent to Nashville on Friday and won't be back until late this Friday - so exnay on the plans. Will try to make it there when NASCAR is back in Dover in Sept. I also didn't make it to NY with friends for my 40th in Jan. The incoming snow and extreme cold kept us home. Went shopping instead, so all was good. One of these days, I'll make it to NY:) At least I hadn't bought tix to anything that I couldn't use.

Just two of the current times when plans have changed. Been plenty of others in the past. You just go with the flow.

Amanda Reeder-erdly 1:10pm May 10, 2010)

Between work and two busy teens, scheduling conflicts are a fact of life in my home. It irritates me to have to miss sports events and dance performances, but I get over it. However, my husband and I always try to make whatever arrangements are necessary when the kids are receiving academic honors---we want them to know how much priority we place on academics.
(
Rose Mills 1:50pm May 10, 2010)

So glad you got to go the signings and hope the Saturday tea doesn't have to be cancelled.

Myself I have had to change plans several times especially when the kids were young--they got sick for all major family events LOL Since I no longer drive I try not to make too many plans the dh has to be my chauffeur for but have had to cancel a few of those things too
(
Barbs Ferris 3:16pm May 10, 2010)

With kids 35,27, and 20, a
younger brother 33, a 75 year
old Mom and 92 year old father
in law, if we don't have chaos
and changes, it an't normal.
As the one who does the all
the cooking, I tell them when
it will be ready and then they
come and eat as it fits in
with their plans for the
holiday. I try to do meals
that are more buffet and
easily warmed in the microwave
as they tend to come in waves.
I generally try to let them
eat early so that they can
also eat supper with us and
help dispose of leftovers.
(
Lisa Richards 4:22pm May 10, 2010)

LOL! Seems like life happens to quite a few of us while we're busy making plans. . . That's exactly what it's like around here, too.

Last Friday was our 44th anniversary. I didn't bother planning anything because my husband was busy helping his brother pull a motor, and we were also getting ready for company the next day for the week-end. My husband got done early, and comes home to say come on, let's go out for supper.

That was a nice change from the usual having to cancel plans at the last minute. {:-)

I hope things are going better for you, Sandi!
(
Donna Breitkreuz 5:21pm May 10, 2010)

Heck, I'd just love to have a bookgroup around here that puts on these great teas and book signings y'all do.

And, I HATE it when I have to change my plans.
(
Amy Cunningham 7:18pm May 10, 2010)

I have ended up making my family holiday plans WAY after the holidays; as it would be someone canceling or coming late, etc., etc. Even then, something will manage to come up for someone:(
(
Barbara Studer 11:09pm May 10, 2010)

So when is the deadline for getting our name in for the contest?
(
Donna Breitkreuz 2:13am May 12, 2010)

I can't think of anything recently that I have had to cancel except doctor appts. I lead a boring life...lol
(
Joy Hoormann 12:43pm May 12, 2010)

I haven't had to cancel anything recently, but have in the past, but not as interesting as meeting two great authors.
(
Joanne Reynolds 6:58am May 15, 2010)

My friend's father past away. I thought I would be able to make it to her father's memorial service since I didn't have any meetings scheduled. Of course, things do happen at work. My supervisor decided that I have to attend an very important meeting because I control the fundings to these three projects.

I had to call my friend and let her know that I couldn't make it. I felt so terrible because when my father passed away, she was there for me and I couldn't returned the favor.

I had to mailed a "Symphathy" card instead. Just wished I have been there in person for her.
(
Kai Wong 1:04pm May 15, 2010)

Well as the mother of 3 and they are all in sports, 4-H etc... I am usually canceling my plans to makes sure they get to do theirs but it is so worth it and when I am wait for them to get done or just in between games I always have my book to keep me company!!!
(
Brandy Blake 3:48pm May 15, 2010)

So far I've had to make adjustments to
plans but I've not had to cancel.
(
Sue Ahn 8:26pm May 15, 2010)

Hello Sandi, Please enter me in your fantastic contest and please let me know when I win also. God bless you with success always, Cecilia
(

I'd love to win
(

There is the saying "The best laid plans of mice and men"---this applies to us ladies as well.
Blessings,
Marjorie
(
Marjorie Carmony 7:56am May 16, 2010)

I use to miss things all the time when I
lived in LA. My whole family live in
WV/OH area and living out there was
torcher. We moved back 6 years ago
just to be closer so we can have family
get togethers a few times a year. It's
terrible when your daughters don't
even know who their grandparents
are!
(
Molly Wilsbacher 9:25am May 16, 2010)

Well, there have been times when I have had to cancel something...or have only been able to attend a part...it's a pain sometimes, but that's life!!
(
Valerie Bongards 1:52pm May 16, 2010)

There have been times when I have had to cancel when I was sick which makes me mad. Now I have had some virus (going to dr tomorrow)for 5 days and have to get well so I can go to Disney with my daughter and grandaughter. Have my fingers crossed and hoping for a quick cure. lol..
(
Brenda Hill 5:36pm May 16, 2010)

Sounds like you are getting to meet a lot of great authors (even if you are a little late sometimes)! Thanks for the opportunity to win a signed book!
(
Julie Perez 5:57pm May 16, 2010)

Mostly, it's when we make plans with hubby's sister that plans get cancelled!! Not us, her. She always got an excuse why she can't come. Oh well, we kind of gotten used to it.
