It's almost Thanksgiving and I love the holidays. I have a big reason to celebrate this year with the release of first THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL and now THE STORM THAT IS STERLING. I was very excited to get my first Booklist review as well!

Here is what they had to say:

The exciting Zodius futuristic suspense series features soldiers enhanced by a GTECH secret military experiment. Sterling Jeter, who is assigned to guard Rebecca Burns, the scientist working on an antidote for the highly addictive and fatal drug ICE. But Rebecca is also the high-school dream Sterling was never able to realize. She has cancer and tangling with bad guys who want her science skills for their ends has left her an ICE addict, too. She wants to take advantage of her time left with Sterling, while Sterling wants to protect her. As danger mounts, they try to sort out who is trustworthy. The GTECH and science details can best be followed with the help of the index, but they do not overwhelm the appealing characters or action. Jones' suspense truly sizzles with an energy similar to FBI tales with a paranormal twist by Julie Garwood or Suzanne Brockmann. Alpha, military, and paranormal romance readers will want Jones' entire series.

Yes, I am thankful. For the review, the release, readers and friends, and of course, the family I love so very much. I don't have a large family and  I think that helped me write Sterling because he doesn't either. In fact, he lost his father to the Iraq war, his mother died in childbirth, and now, even the grandmother who raised him is gone.

But Sterling gets his happy ending and I like to think about him, sharing his Thanksgiving, with Becca, who is the heroine in his story, and most certainly, in his life. I can see Sterling sitting down to watch Christmas Vacation with Becca and laughing himself, and her, silly. You see Sterling uses slly humor to hide his pain, always cracking a joke. He reminds me of Dean from Supernatural with that dry humor that is always so well timed.

contest prizesI'll leave you with a few STERLINGISMS today and all you have to do to win a basket of goodies, is tell me your favorite tormented hero from books or movies or tv! Or just tell me your favorite way to spend Thanksgiving.

"We Renegades write our own rules. The good, bendable kind that let me kick your ass all over the curb and then do it again just for fun."

****

After being punched -- "Feels Good"

****

"You don't know the meaning of ‘wait,' do you?" Caleb asked.

Sterling grinned. "You wouldn't love me if I did."

****

"I'll be taking that vial of ICE you got there in your pocket. Then you can mosey on along and take the rest of your lifetime on vacation. You know, do whatever retired drug dealers do. Play the casino tables. Watch SpongeBob for all I care. Just get the hell off my streets."

****

"You're the suit-wearing, talk-down-to-you, and then bust-your-wallet-in-the-balls, kind of asshole. I'm the dirty-boxing, back-alley kind of asshole."

****

Sterling's lips twisted with a wry taunt. "The next two bullets won't hit the ground. Think of all those little bones in your feet blasted away by the steel force of a bullet." He shook his head. "Ouch. That hurts just thinking about it. Even on an ICE high, that's gonna bite like a bitch. After that, we'll move upwards." He pointed the gun at Mohawk's knee. Then his thigh. Then shoved the gun toward his crotch. "About midway up is where all the fun starts. If I blow it off, will ICE grow it back? Wanna find out?"

****

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Re: Lisa Renee Jones | Name Your Favorite Tormented Hero

There's no way I can choose a favourite tormented hero, I love every one of them that I read about or watch.
As for my favourite way to spend Thanksgiving, Gathering with friends and family for good food and fun times.
(Lisa White 11:02pm November 21, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero is Wolverine from the X-Men. A past that comes back to haunt him even though he would be 100 years old but his healing factor slows down his aging.
(Kai Wong 12:29pm November 22, 2011)

Jim Heron from JR Ward's Fallen Angel series. I love spending Thanksgiving with my family and cooking for them all. My birthday sometimes falls on Thanksgiving and I loved it when I was a child (it was always extra birthday gifts). lol.
(Robin Priddy 2:40am November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero would have to be Angel from the TV show Angel.

(Theresa Norris 6:51am November 22, 2011)

Your book sounds great and I wish you much success! My favorite tormented hero is the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera. I don't know if he would actually qualify as a hero but my heart went out to him and I actually cried at the end of the story! Happy Thanksgiving!
(Renee Pajda 8:07am November 22, 2011)

aahhhh....thank you, Lisa, for such a wonderful resource: a great read on a frosty day, wrapped in a quilt and a cup of hot cocoa :)

My favorite hero is my foreverhero, Jesus, for now and eternity.
(Nina Crespi 9:05am November 22, 2011)

Favorite tormented hero ... Definitely Snape. He loved the same woman for years, even when she didn't love him and he protected her son, who reminded him of the person he hated most in the world. And he never gets a happily ever after. The end was what I expected but I always wanted him to have some happiness somewhere and he never does.
(Pam Howell 9:20am November 22, 2011)

I have a lot of favorite tormented heroes, but one that always sticks with me is Tegan from the Midnight Breed series.

Thank you for the giveaway!

Happy Thanksgiving
(Melissa Carter 9:21am November 22, 2011)

Favorite tormented hero - Michael from the La Femme Nikita
(the cancelled series, not the present one. Yum!
(Tammy Barringer 9:33am November 22, 2011)

My favorite tomented hero is Angel from buffy the vampire slayer. Even though he has a soul cursed upon him he still trys to help and save humans.
(Anthonia Sharp 10:09am November 22, 2011)

Ah, back in the day, Athos from Alexandre Dumas's The Three Musketeers and Twenty Years After was definitely a leading tormented hero in my affections....
(Mary Ann Dimand 11:00am November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero is Julius Notte from lynsay sands book vampire interrupted. His lifemate is taken away from him by jean claude and is helped by morgan and vita notte. This tortures him and he has a child with her in which she ordered the child killed and returned to him. This only makes him more hurt by her. In truth she was being controlled. This is a great book to read and if you would like to know the ending you have to read it for yourselves. As i said he is the tormented charater in this book.
(Anthonia Sharp 11:33am November 22, 2011)

I dont really have a favorite tormented hero, too many to chose from. My favorite way to spend Thanksgiving is with all my family around having a laid back day. We just enjoy hanging out enjoying each others company and good food
(Julie Parrish 12:06pm November 22, 2011)

I can't say I have a favorite hero its the one I am reading at the time. I love spending Thanksgiving eating a big dinner with the family.
(Gail Hurt 12:13pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite hero is usually the one in the book I am reading at the moment. Happy Holidays!
(Jean Patton 12:20pm November 22, 2011)

my favorite tormented hero? well, that would be erik from phantom of the opera. i have read and reread the book, and watched the (silent) b&w movie so many times.
(Anne Harris 12:29pm November 22, 2011)

I think Angel from Buffy and his own show was tormented most of the time. Otherwise the writers had him havimg a good time.
(Jo Anne Benware 12:30pm November 22, 2011)

Barrons from Moning's Fever series is probably my favorite. No
one beats their self up like he does He is closely
followed by all the Blackdagger Brothers though ;)
(Sharon Stogner 12:49pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero has to be Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice -- only for Austen lovers. I love to spend Thanksgiving watching the Macy's parade with my mom and having my fill of Turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce in front of a football game.
(Renee Brown 12:50pm November 22, 2011)

Oh I enjoyed a few tortured heroes... read some that were tortured mentally and physically... can not choose just one, but what I do love is how they work through things to get their HEA!
(Colleen Conklin 12:59pm November 22, 2011)

Thanks for the sweepstakes
(Clydia DeFreese 1:09pm November 22, 2011)

Thanks for the giveaway. My favorite tormented hero is Dragos
for Dragon Bound, Thea Harrison's Elder Race series.
(Joanne Balinski 1:31pm November 22, 2011)

There are so many; but I will chose Rome Matthews from Sarah's Child by Linda Howard.
(Pat Lieberman 1:41pm November 22, 2011)

Currently I am reading an older book that was recommended to me. The title is Scarlett by Alexandria Ripley. It's the sequel to Gone With the Wind. Currently, Rhett is the tormented Hero, and I just read a scene in the book where he lived up to that title. Whether or not he remains a Hero, I'll find out after I finish the book, but so far it's been a good read. As for Thanksgiving, my Husband and I plan on spending a quiet, cozy day here in the country with our turkey and all the trimmings. Of course the cats that adopted us will get a few scraps to help us celebrate, when they show up outside for dinner. The babies need to stay warm and continue to grow and get strong. It should be a lovely day. Happy Thanksgiving and congratulations on your book!! It sounds like an exciting read!!
(Peggy Roberson 2:05pm November 22, 2011)

Tormented "hero" if I can use that word a little
loosely, Othello. Truly tormented, great line.."I
have loved not wisely, but all too well" His
character has always had a strong impact on me.
For the holidays, favorite meal and trimmings
and get the tree and decorations out if not up.
(Carla Carlson 3:30pm November 22, 2011)

Thank you for the Sterlingisms - especially that last one!

One of my favorite tormented heroes is Lestat de Lioncourt
from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I know not your
typical romance hero, but still tormented all the same.

A favorite way to spend Thanksgiving, other than with what
family and friends are available, is watching the Detroit
Lion game. And must listen to Alice's Restaurant at 12
noon!
(Cynthia Netherton 3:44pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero would have to be Tristan in the movie, Tristan & Isolade. A great movie. My favorite way to spend Thanksgiving is with family, watching football after our huge meal with our favorite team, the Green Bay Packers! They've had an outstanding season so far and we can't wait for their next game on Thanksgiving day! We love to play games later in the evening (UNO, Yahtzee, Scrabble, or card games), and having dessert we didn't have room for after the big meal. LOVE the Giveaway and the new book sounds very good too!
(Linda Luinstra 4:31pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero is Zhadist from JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood. My favorite way to spend Thanksgiving is surrounded by my family. Sure we all aggravate each other. But in the in we are there for one another no matter what so I enjoy spending the day with them. Eating great food and catching up on everything.
(Kim Stogner 5:52pm November 22, 2011)

My favourite way to spend Thanksgiving is gluten-free!
(Cheryl McEwen 7:20pm November 22, 2011)

Happy Thanksgiving! Can you imagine your favorite tormented hero taking
antidepressants as so many people do today. Question--Would they still be
tormented, still be heroes or would their lives be totally different?
(Sandra Spilecki 7:46pm November 22, 2011)

I'm probably one of the odd people out because a lot of
people won't think he was a hero, but I loved Cole from the
series, Charmed. I always thought he was so tormented, and
were it not for his demon status, he would have been a hero.
Happy Thanksgiving, Lisa!
(Rachel Carrington 8:10pm November 22, 2011)

Favorite tormented hero - too many to choose from. Favorite way to spend Thanksgiving is with family and friends.
(Mary C 8:17pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero is Jacob from the Twilight series!
(Laura Henderson 9:23pm November 22, 2011)

That is a tough choice, but my favorite tormented hero is Jerricho
Barrons from the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. My favorite
way to spend Thanksgiving is with my whole family at my
grandma's house. (That includes all the pets, they get to have a
special dinner too!)
(Ashley Applebee 9:26pm November 22, 2011)

Don't have a favorite tormented hero. I work in a hotel resturant, so I work most holidays, and watch others injoy.
(Sheila True 9:40pm November 22, 2011)

There are so many -- but generally by the end they have an HEA
and that's how I'd rather remember them. Thanksgiving with
family is my preference, casual, good food, relaxing &
laughing together.
(Diane Sallans 10:04pm November 22, 2011)

My favorite tortured hero is Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunters
(Wanda Flanagan 10:35pm November 22, 2011)

Congrats on your new release! Thanks for the wonderful post and giveaway! I don't have a specific hero that I absolutely love but for the most part its the hero of the book I'm currently reading.

I love spending Thanksgiving with my family, enjoying good food and just relaxing.

Here's hoping you have a wonderful holiday!
(Erin Fender 10:38pm November 22, 2011)

Does Rhett from Gone with The Wind count? He made a big impression ever since I first saw him in the movie...
(May Pau 10:43pm November 22, 2011)

my favorite tormented hero was romeo in romeo and juleitte. he
loses his beloved and despairs over losing her and joins her
in death to end his loneliness.
(Anthonia Sharp 10:54pm November 22, 2011)

Thanksgiving Day I'll be cooking, hugging, then cleaning up after everyone leaves. Then relax with a good book.
(Deb Pelletier 11:01pm November 22, 2011)

One of my favorite tormented heroes is the self-styled Count of Monte Cristo as portrayed by Jim Caviezel in the 2002 film "The Count of Monte Cristo." Thankfully, this version ended well.

So.....Happy Turkey Day to everyone participating in this contest and especially to our guest blogger author who graciously is providing a copy of "The Storm That Is Michael" for a prize!
(Carla Schuller 11:13pm November 22, 2011)

Too many to name! It would be hard enough just trying to pick one favorite from a book, but book or tv? lol
I plan on cooking thanksgiving dinner for my Hubby, boys and in-laws this year... I've only cooked maybe 2 turkeys ever, and this year I decided to add ham and homemade apple pie... What the heck was I thinking! =D
(Emily Tardy 5:03am November 23, 2011)

My favorite tormented hero would have to be HOUSE. He qualifies right?? All that self destructive behavior. I want to save him from himself.
(Mary Preston 5:08am November 23, 2011)

Dante from Adrian Phoenix's Maker's Song or Gavin from Brent Weeks'
Black Prism

My favorite way to spend Thanksgiving is like so many others is to spend it with family. This year there will be only five of so were going with a casual meal. We're having leftover turkey sandwiches. By making the meal a day early we can relax and keep it fun. No stress or fancy presentations.

It's got to be Angel from Buffy/Angel
(Tara Smith 2:14pm November 23, 2011)

Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. Though
Zarek from the same series and Wolverine from X-Men are a close second :D
(Ilona Fenton 2:15pm November 23, 2011)

The quintessential tormented hero is Heathcliff, of course, but he isn't my favorite. My favorite is Edward Fairfax Rochester. That man was truly tormented every day of his life!
