Cleo Coyle | Coffee. It Can Get a Girl Killed!

Instagrampinterestamazonbookbubtwittergoodreadsfacebook

It's true. In all twelve of my culinary mysteries, coffee can get a girl killed. Today I'm happy to tell you—it can get a girl a bestseller, too.

My Coffeehouse Mystery, A Brew to a Kill, was first published in hardcover last year and quickly became a Nielsen Bookscan mystery bestseller. It was also named a "must-read mystery" pick at Barnes & Noble, chosen a featured alternate selection of the Mystery Guild, and honored by Fresh Fiction as one the year's top-10 cozy mystery reads.

Now I'm celebrating one more step in the publishing process: the release of A Brew to a Kill in its mass market paperback edition.

You can help me celebrate by leaving a comment on this post, and you'll be entered to win an autographed copy of A Brew to a Kill and a beautiful "Gimme coffee" Latte Cup, made in Italy.

For those of you who've never read a Coffeehouse Mystery before, you can certainly pick this entry up as a stand-alone. The books in my long-running series are set in an around the Village Blend, a century-old landmark coffeehouse in New York's picturesque Greenwich Village.

Clare Cosi manages the place. She's a single mom, in her forties, and though her daughter is grown, Clare often acts as a surrogate mom to the oddball collection of young baristas in her employ.

In A Brew to a Kill, Clare hires a sweet, young dietician to give the Village Blend's coffeehouse menu a makeover and lighten up some of the higher calorie items. Lilly Beth is a former nurse, a lovely person and a loving mother. So who would want to ruthlessly run her down with a van, right in front of Clare's shop?

Clare won't rest until she finds the van's driver, but as she searches for leads, she's led right back to her own shop. Then she opens a bag of recently imported coffee beans and finds great big rocks—the kind that can send you to Federal prison.

Is her ex-husband and business partner trafficking Brazilian crack?

Is that why Lilly Beth was run down?

To find the truth, Clare must sweet-talk two federal agents, stake out a Dragon Boat Festival, dupe a drug kingpin, and teach a cocky young police detective how to pull the perfect espresso. All while keeping herself out of hot water—and her relationship with NYPD Detective Mike Quinn from blowing up in her face.

By the end of the tale, you'll taken a fun, foodie odyssey through the streets of New York and have over 20 delicious recipes to try in your own kitchen. May you cook them with love and eat them with joy! ~ Cleo

I love it when authors combine the two. Every so often an
author will describe a food item that sounds absolutely
amazing and it makes you want to try it but you don't know
how to make it. I'm glad us readers don't have that problem
with your books. :-)

I absolutely love your series and I'm working through all of them! Love the
mystery and recipes. When will you do a stand alone cookbook as other
authors of long series have? I would snatch that one up, too.
