Caridad Pineiro | A series REBORN
October 28, 2012
Years ago when I decided to write the first book in THE CALLING/REBORN Vampire
Novel series, most of my friends thought I'd gone off the deep end. Vampires?
You? Are you crazy? Who wants to read vampire stories? At the time I had been writing contemporary romances, intense, emotional, and
sexy stories where boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy and girl get back
together. Don't get me wrong, I love those kinds of stories and am working on a
new contemporary romance series. Even though I loved those stories, a dark part inside of me said, What if boy
met girl and it was mission impossible? Or what if "Love you forever" really
meant "forever" as in "eternally yours?" That darkness was the inspiration for the first book in the series - DARKNESS CALLS. Apt title
although it wasn't my original one. You'll get to see that title and others -
BORN TO SERVE, BORN TO LOVE, and BORN TO DIE -- when THE CALLING series
relaunches as THE REBORN series in February 2013 with Entangled Publishing. In DARKNESS CALLS,
kick-ass FBI Agent Diana Reyes faces the challenge of the sexy, Southern vampire
gentleman, Ryder Latimer. It was a happily-ever-for now since I think we all
knew - the editors, readers, and little ol' me - that Ryder and Diana's story
didn't end with that first book. Nor did it end with DEATH CALLS a few years
later. In BORN TO SERVE, you'll see Diana and Ryder's story continue as
they reach for that happily-ever-after. Speaking of DEATH CALLS,
I introduced two new characters to the world of THE CALLING/REBORN in that
book: Stacia, a two-thousand year old vampiress and DEA Agent Alex Garcia. I loved both of them because of how different they were and how complex. Alex was honorable, by the book and determined to stop a terrorist plot, even it
killed him (which it almost did.) Stacia was just so outrageous in every way you can imagine. Stacia was so
desperate for love, she chased after both Diana and Ryder with equal fervor,
determined to try and end the boredom of her eternal existence. Finding a happily-ever-after didn't happen in DEATH CALLS for Stacia. It
didn't happen either in the free read DESIRE CALLS which you can
find at www.rebornvampirenovels.com. But in KISSED BY A
VAMPIRE, my October Nocturne release, Stacia finally meets a man who can end
her boredom and give her something she thought impossible in her long
existence: love. Along the way to Stacia finally beginning to believe in the
impossible, we find out the harsh world that shaped Stacia and come to love her
for being a survivor and for being willing to help others even if it may mean
the end of her eternal existence. KISSED BY A VAMPIRE is a
sexy, emotional and touching story as Stacia and Alex try to make sense of what
has brought them together and what threatens to keep them apart. I hope you
will check it out for yourself.
Thank you Fresh Fiction for sharing your blog with me! THE CALLING/REBORN

kind of mix or do you prefer something different? Leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of my e-novella NOCTURNAL WHISPERS and a KISSED BY THE VAMPIRE

Readers of paranormals will enjoy suspense mixed in too so I think the first step is to get a nervous reader convinced to try a paranormal. I don't read horror, but I do read some paranormals. If I did not enjoy them I would not continue! (Clare O'Beara 6:46am October 29, 2012)

abb great contest (Kent Cook 3:53pm October 29, 2012)
Hiya! Hiding in SC doing this blog, I see. ;-) Of course, I like paranormal & suspense, mix 'em all you want. How does one hide one's identity when lives as long as 2,000 yr so 'normal' human folks won't get suspicious - btw?? Sort of remember that from "The Highlander" movie. Don't think one can keep on living w/ one name and addr for 2,000 yrs, not getting old w/out your neighbours and coworkers noticing, right? (Jk Vaid 5:44pm October 29, 2012)
I think suspense and paranormal mix is great of course I think any kind of mix especially with paranormal is great........ (Larena Hubble 7:04pm October 29, 2012)
A little suspense is always good reading for me--no matter what the genre!!! (Barbara Studer 7:41pm October 29, 2012)

I love the mix of suspense and paranormal, but also read romantic suspense and PNR. But I also like some humor in the mix too! Thanks for the giveaway. (Karen Prentice 1:19am October 30, 2012)
I love to read about vampires and the paranormal! Thanks for the giveaway! (Christine Mead 6:52am October 30, 2012)
