Margaret Daley | A Motive for Murder: Revenge

I was in the middle of writing SCORNED JUSTICE when the show Revenge came on last year on ABC--a show about a burning need to seek revenge on someone who had hurt the lead character. At least that was the impression I got from the ads about the new show. I have to confess I actually haven't seen the show. But it summed up my story--to what lengths would someone go to get back at another. A person takes the first step in a path of revenge, and before he/she knows it, there is no turning back. The need consumes him/her.

When revenge starts consuming the character, the fun really begins. The stakes are heightened. The villain starts to lose it and make mistakes. A show I do watch--Once Upon a Time --has revenge driving the plot. The Evil Queen wants to make Snow White pay for what she did as a child.

Revenge is one of the basic motives for a person murdering another. There are others like greed, hate/love, the need for power. When I wrote this book, I wanted to show how far someone could go, how it changed his/her life. And since this is an inspirational romantic suspense, I needed, a happily ever after ending so there is a consequence for the revenge beyond going to prison.

What movie, book or show you've read or seen that has revenge at its core? I have a book of SCORNED JUSTICE I would like to giveaway to one of the people who leaves an answer to the question.

More about SCORNED JUSTICE by Margaret Daley

Texas Ranger Brody Calhoun is with his parents in west Texas when an unexpected attack injures the brother of Rebecca Morgan, Brody's high school sweetheart. The local sheriff, a good friend, asks for Brody’s help. At first, it seems like an open-and-shut case.

As Brody digs deeper, he realizes the attack may be related to an organized crime trial Rebecca will be overseeing. With Rebecca's help, he compiles evidence involving cattle rustling, bribery, and dirty payoffs that shatter the entire community and put Rebecca directly in the line of fire.

Brody expects to protect her. What he never expects is to fall for Rebecca all over again, or for a murder to throw the case wide open. Is Brody's faith strong enough to withstand not only deep-rooted corruption and cattle rustling, but also love? Re: Margaret Daley | A Motive for Murder: Revenge

My first thought of a movie based on revenge is The Princess Bride!!! Mandy Patankin was so great in that movie and though your book is about revenge in a serious manner, his character was hilarious!!!

I am addicted to the ID channel - real life stories of people getting their revenge from scorned lovers to business partners.
A classic book of revenge, The Count of Monte Cristo - the plotting, the life changing ... Iago out of revenge and jealousy causes everyone to be destroyed in Othello

Once Upon a Time in the West is a revenge movie that is well
acted, clever and a favorite. A book is Prisoner of Birth by
Jeffrey Archer.

scorned justice is the A-Team!!!:)

There are too many shows/books to name that is based on revenge. To pull a few titles I've read,
"Blue Smoke" by Nora Roberts, which is a great story by the way. Involved revenge for a childhood
incident using fire as the way of action. I also read, "Someone To Watch Over Me" by Judith McNaught,
and this had an excellent plot. The murderer lead everyone around in circles while being right next
to the victims. I watched a romantic melodramatic show based on revenge called, "The Innocent Man" it
is a Korean drama about the male lead being used by the love of his life. He pleaded guilty for a
murder crime she did and many other schemes and trouble. After he realized what she has done to him
he plotted his revenge to bring her down. I really do enjoy some romance stories that involved some
revenge. Its intriguing and has a different kind of twist outside of what I normally read.

My mind goes blank when it comes time to think of a special book or movie with revenge as a key factor. I guess that's the process of getting older, but I really like books of this type.
(Anna Speed 12:41pm February 23, 2013)

ahh, revenge... who hasn't contemplated getting back or getting even.
(Elaine Meglathery 12:44pm February 23, 2013)

Love those book covers... they are really great! I have read quite a few books that have revenge at the core... but I am drawing a blank at the moment with titles...

Two of my favorite revenge movies were UNFAITHFUL and FATAL ATTRACTION (since they were unforgettable, both were so good)! Your books sound good in this series.
(Rich Cook 5:08pm February 23, 2013)

Love revenge movies and books. My absolute favorites were War of the Roses and The First Wives Club. Love when women stick up for themselves and get even with revenge! Your book covers are fabulous and can't wait to read them all...they look GREAT!
(Linda Luinstra 5:38pm February 23, 2013)

I do believe the movie Sleeping with the Enemy. The one where Julia Roberts finally gets the courage to leave her husband and in the end he if can't have her then no one can have her
(Milagros Gagliano 7:43pm February 23, 2013)

The First Wives Club. Loved the movie. It's revenge with a smile!!
(Chris Coulson 8:12pm February 23, 2013)

there are many forms of revenge to right wrongs - right imaginary wrongs revenge is never about something only an imaginary slight to one's person - sorry I couldn't come up wioth any particular book or movie - except for revenge of the Nerds
(Vickie Dailey 8:45pm February 23, 2013)

The Count of Monte Cristo is a great book about revenge and it was also made into a movie. The First Wives Club is another favorite about revenge. Thanks for the giveaway.
(Bonnie H 8:49pm February 23, 2013)

I'm also a big fan of Once Upon a Time!
Kill Bill is probably the most compelling revenge movie(s) I know.
(Catherine Lee 9:17pm February 23, 2013)

Snapped! Haven't seen it in a bit (no cable here), but it's about scorned lovers exacting the ultimate revenge
(Michelle Schafer 10:24pm February 23, 2013)

I very much like the movie "Man in the Iron Mask". It has a very good revenge plot about a man's revenge on another for putting him in said iron mask for so long. I love how it sllowly reveals why he was put in the mask and how everything just falls right into place.
(Meghan Anderson 11:58pm February 23, 2013)

your books sound captivating
(Kathy McWherter 11:59pm February 23, 2013)

The ID channel with he show Scorned and as for a book, Erica Spindler has written several where revenge/scorn has driven the killer over the edge. I really enjoyed Last known victem.
(Janis Milford 12:02pm February 24, 2013)

Blue Smoke by Nora Roberts is the first book that comes to mind. I wasn't sure if I woul dlike it, but I ended up loving it. It's an interesting premise, because most of the time people end up holding grudges that overpower their ability to build anything like love.
(Donna Holmberg 6:44pm February 24, 2013)

FATAL ATTRACTION is a very good example of a revenge movie I
think.

Revenge is a powerful motivator.
(Mary Preston 6:55pm February 24, 2013)

Revenge, tv show.
(Cheryl McEwen 6:57pm February 24, 2013)

The Count of Monte Cristo. I can never forget the story and the two movies made.

Another revenge story is the Eve Duncan series by Iris Johansen. Eve Duncan is still looking for the murderer of her daughter. I have been following the series if she will ever find her daughter's killer.
(Kai Wong 12:55pm February 25, 2013)

Fatal Attraction is the first one that comes to mind for me. That was a great movie.
