Terry Spear | Leidolf Wildhaven and His Workout Routine
August 23, 2010
Coming up with new blog post ideas for a blog tour can be challenging. So when I
mentioned this to a fan, she suggested my having Leidolf as my studio guest.
What she particularly wanted to know was: Does he work out and what he does in a
day. And how many times? I'm sure running through the woods naked is a regular
routine. But, he also must lift weights to get that great body and stamina. I
heard he has stamina. All night long.
–Diva Donna
Thanks so much, Donna, for giving me some wolf ideas to discuss and your fun
take on the subject.
Absolutely, Leidolf has stamina. It’s a wolf thing, you know.
Luckily, Leidolf Wildhaven, of Portland, Oregon and the surrounding area (he’s a
pack leader, so the surrounding area is his home also), does indeed work out.
Mostly, of late, with Cassie Roux, but since this is a G-Rated blog, I’ll have
to suffice it to say, he wants to leave his legacy to the pack, and he’ll have a
WHOLE lot of fun doing it. Plus, another blog wishes me to discuss the mating
behavior of wolf packs. Hmmm…so I don’t want to get too repetitive here.
But truly, Cassie and Leidolf do work out in other ways, that is to say in play.
Wolves by nature do play. It’s a way for them to practice their leadership
skills in play. It’s a form of practice hunting, of socialization, and just
meant to be fun. So in both Seduced by the Wolf (in
stores this month!)—when the play is strictly between Leidolf and Cassie in
their wolf forms, and in Wolf Fever (December
2010)—where the play is with a wolf pack in their human forms, it’s meant to be
fun and, well, sexy, if the two who are playing are in the mood.
Now, I’m not talking about hot play, as in… sexy, but in hot, as in
tongue-panting hot. Oh all right, it’s impossible to make this a really G-rated
blog when so many might take my meaning in a not so G-rated way.
Wolves are hot and sexy. What can I say?
Now, back to working out. Lifting weights is definitely not a wolf’s way.
Leidolf prefers to carry Cassie, if he’s doing any lifting at all. And keeping
her warm is another work out. For those who are sliding down that slippery slope
again—what I mean, is that he has to gather firewood, in the all-together, to
build a fire, to keep her warm. Here I am being all nice and innocent, and I
know just what you’re thinking.
Back to stamina. Wolves can run miles and in fact they can travel all night
long. So yes, Leidolf has no trouble in running marathons. ESPECIALLY when he’s
got the extra incentive of tracking down a little red wolf! And jumping? Yep,
they do a high-jump proud. It’s great for tackling bad wolves in a single bound,
or jumping over fences at the zoo, when they get into trouble that way.
Did I mention he loves to swim, too? He doesn’t bother with swimming trunks
though. Too cumbersome. And besides, he’s a wolf. They love to be au naturale in
the wilderness. And who wouldn’t? Although it’s a little too cold for Cassie, so
she passes and prefers to swim as a wolf. Yes, they love to swim. And they love
to do a little fishing while they’re at it. Much easier as a wolf!
Okay, so after all those workouts, playing, fishing, building fires, and
carrying Cassie around, he enjoys a wolfish nap. Although, I have to say,
sometimes Cassie’s not quite ready to sleep.
And so he’s back to building some more of that stamina up.
There. My G-rated blog. Sort of. And I can’t thank Donna enough for asking about
Leidolf. He’s definitely a wolf.
Thanks so much for having me here today and for everyone dropping by to
comment!
So now that Donna has had her turn, does anyone else have a question about
Leidolf? Anyone want to trade places with Cassie???
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to drop by and say hi!
Terry SEDUCED BY THE WOLF BY
TERRY SPEAR – IN
STORES AUGUST 2010
His first priority is to protect his pack…
Werewolf pack leader Leidolf Wildhaven has just taken over a demoralized pack.
With rogue wolves on the loose causing havoc and the authorities from the zoo
suddenly zeroing in on the local wolf population, the last thing he needs in his
territory is a do-gooder
female, no matter how beautiful and enticing she is…
She’ll do anything to help wolves…
Biologist Cassie Roux has dedicated her life to protecting wolves in the wild.
On a desperate mission to help a she-wolf with newborn pups, the last thing
Cassie needs right now is a nosy and entirely too attractive werewolf pack
leader trying to track her down…
With rogue wolves and hunters threatening at every turn, Cassie and Leidolf may
find their attraction the most dangerous force of all…

Re: Terry Spear | Leidolf Wildhaven and His Workout Routine
It is easy to imagine that a wolf wouldn't be into something like weight lifting to stay in shape! Being natural creatures, he stays in shape the 'natural' way. Being active doing the things he loves. I really enjoy that this is your stance, too!
Looking forward to reading "Seduced by the Wolf"! (Jennifer Bird 11:08pm August 19, 2010)
I have read everyone of your books. I even bought three copies of "Heart of the Wolf" and gave the extra two copies to my sisters so I could have someone to discuss about the books and the series.
I'm looking forward to more of the Wolf series. (Kai Wong 11:40pm August 19, 2010)
And keeping her warm is another work out. For those who are sliding down that slippery slope again—what I mean, is that he has to gather firewood, in the all-together, to build a fire, to keep her warm... hahaha!
i would definitely love to trade places with Cassie!!! (Tina Werner 9:31am August 20, 2010)

We have a wolf preserve here in Indiana. It is an absolutely marvelous thing to be able to walk among them and communicate. Blessings, Marjorie (Marjorie Carmony 1:52pm August 23, 2010)
Of course I couldn't think of a woman who wouldn't want a wolf like Leidolf around. I know I would!! The weather gets cold where I live, and someone like that would be nice to have around to make sure that I'm taken care of, and to make sure that I have enough wood, along with "creature comforts" to keep me warm when it got cold enough. There's also time for some "fun." It doesn't sound like a bad deal to me!! (Peggy Roberson 3:41pm August 23, 2010)
Wow, if I weren't very happily married I would definately want to trade places with Cassie! (G. Bisbjerg 3:53pm August 23, 2010)
I would not mind watching him when he worked out! ;) I would love to trade places with Cassie! (Colleen Conklin 4:48pm August 23, 2010)

I would love to change places with Cassie. And my question for Leidolf is, does he have room for one more? (Leni Kaye 5:48pm August 23, 2010)
Wow! That's all I can say, wow! (Kelli Jo Calvert 5:56pm August 23, 2010)

After seeing the wolves in our area, I would think he might be into some long distance running. (Sue Farrell 7:29pm August 23, 2010)
You did a good job of keeping it G- rated. Not everyone has a mind that wanders into R territory, even when innuendo might send them there. I haven't read many werewolf books. This sounds interesting. Good luck with the release of SEDUCED BY THE WOLF and the December release of WOLF FEVER. (Patricia Barraclough 9:49pm August 23, 2010)
Sounds like an interesting read, eventhough its not my usual subject of choice. (Sheila True 10:29pm August 23, 2010)
Hey, I wasn't thinking that.... Okay... Yeah, I was. >:D (Suzie Thompson 10:34pm August 23, 2010)

Well there's some workout inspiration! I wouldn't mind swapping workout buddies for a bit! Looking forward to this one it looks like a fun read. (Sarah Dewbery 11:47pm August 23, 2010)
Wolves are one of my favorite shapeshifters, I'm looking forward to reading this story! (Sue Ahn 5:18am August 24, 2010)
Ohmigosh, while I was at work this was posted and wow, great responses!
Thanks, Jennifer Bird, I hope you enjoy Leidolf and Cassie's story!
Kai, that was so touching. Thanks so much! If you need autographed book plates or book marks, just send me a SASE!
To all of you who said you'd trade places with Cassie, I'm thrilled you love Leidolf. And Leni, if you want to join the pack, he's always looking for new females for his bachelor males!
Marjorie, where in Indiana? I went to Officer Personnel school at Fort Benjamin Harrison, and my French grandfather, whom Cassie is named after, Roux, settled in Fort Wayne. :)
Peggy, you sound like you'd fit right in!
Suzie, too funny!
We all need a little inspiration, right, Sarah? :)
Sue, definitely, long distance running is a must. :)
Thanks to everyone for your overwhelming response. Hope you fall in love with the series if you're just checking it out and if you're already reading the series, hope you love Leidolf's story! I'm off to work on seducing a SEAL in The Wolf and the SEAL (the SEAL is very much a wolf)... :) after I work the day job! :) (Terry Spear 5:52am August 24, 2010)
Playing is always the best! (Joanne Reynolds 6:33am August 24, 2010)
the book sounds interesting but I wouldn't want to trade places with Cassie, except in my imagination. (Pam Howell 10:43am August 24, 2010)
Thanks for the behind the scenes look at a wolf's workout,Terry. Can't wait to read these stories. I've been so busy with edits I haven't had a chance yet, but they're next on my list. (Anita Clenney 10:45am August 24, 2010)

The wolf preserve is near Brookville. I live in Rush County, near Indianapolis. It was a thrill to pet those wild creatures who wanted to trust. You are blessed with Hoosier connections. Blessings, Marjorie (Marjorie Carmony 2:53pm August 24, 2010)
This sounds like an intriguing read! (Alice Xiao 6:10pm August 24, 2010)
Hi Terry, I love your wolf series. Leidolf is so sexy!! But all of your alpha wolves are sexy. Can't wait until the next book comes out. (Julie Swaney 6:28pm August 24, 2010)
Love this series to death, hope it's around many, many more years. (Lisa Richards 7:09pm August 24, 2010)

Hi, Valerie, from Germany! My dad's family were Wilde from Germany!
I bet, Marjorie!!! I'd love to see them.
Thanks, Alice!
Thanks so much, Julie!!! Wolf Fever will soon be here! Truly! :) I had so much fun with poor Carol. And Chester Ryan McKinley? Hmm-hm. :)
Ah, thanks so much, Lisa!! It will be!!! I'm working on book 9 and 10 and loving them. And hope you do too!!! :) (Terry Spear 7:31pm August 24, 2010)
Since I've always liked the big dogs like shepherds, labradors, etc., I find that wolves definitely fit into that category as well. I enjoy Kelley Armstrong's wolf-pack books and this sounds like a great series as well. You may also notice that I have a German name though my first name is more Scandinavian than German. (Sigrun Schulz 4:06am August 25, 2010)
Ah, yes, Schulz, very German! :) On my mother's side--we had Kramer (changed to Cramer)...but he came over with a German prince as a mercenary force during the American Revolution. I love genealogy! And I've had small, medium and large dogs. Loved my lab--always wanted a chocolate one. :) I had standard poodles too. The bigger dogs remind me of their heritage. The smaller they are, the more diluted from their original wolf genes. :) I've never owned them, but I love Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds! I have Irish Wolfhounds in Heart of the Highland Wolf, coming Jun 2011. :) (Terry Spear 7:07pm August 25, 2010)
Terry, I'm not sure if you'll get this. I went to your website and blogger blog but I couldn't find a way to email you. Just wanted to let you know I received Seduced by the Wolf today and I can not WAIT to dive into reading it. Thanks so much for holding this contest. :) (Suzie Thompson 5:31pm August 30, 2010)
