I never seem to be able to read as much as I want. I have a basket sitting beside my bed of TBR books. I have recently been reading Suzanne Brockmann books and am slowly reading her earlier books. I love them.

It seems like there is just never enough time for me to read right now. I have a a pile next to my bed of TBR books, some are older books and some are newer ones. I have to many to choose from, so when I do get time to read more again it will be hard to decide which to start first with.

Like most folks, my TBR pile seems to grow faster than I can read. I like the idea of participating in the online challenges to encourage us to broaden our reading. I read Alice Duncan's Strong Spirits this month - a new author for me that I really enjoyed.

I recently started reading Laura Griffin and really like her writing.
I rarely do challenges because life is too short and there is so little time to read.

On one of my yahoo groups, I got to know some good cozy mystery authors. Haven't read them in quite a while. I read I Scream, You Scream by Wendy Lyn Watson and Murder Can Be Binding by Lorna Barrett. I highly recommend both books. It's a good change of pace from what I usually read, from contemporary romance, to romance westerns (Linda Lael Miller) to historicals like Kathleen Woodiwiss and Victoria Holt. As usual, I have a lot of books I haven't even touched yet -- I just keep buying. I go to Walmart and I am lost -- it's like - I just have to pick up a book and yesterday I walked out with about four!

I've been working at getting a
blog started on what I read
and have spent most of the
month on that and researching
other blogs. I did read "My
Soul to Save" by Rachel
Vincent and "The Iron King" by
Julie Kagawa, both of which
were okay books. They weren't
great but I'll still be back
for more of both series.

I read a lot of really good books this past month, namely Lauren Willig (The Betrayal of the Blood Lily), My Soul To Take (Yrsa Sigurdardottir), The Queen's Dollmaker by Christine Trent, The Murderer's Daughters by Randy Susan Meyers, My Unfair Lady by Kathryne Kennedy and this fantastic Medieval history book called A Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England which was so alive and not the dry history one expects. Kathryne Kennedy is a favorite author. The Yrsa Sigurdardottir was my second by her and I would now call her one of my favorite suspense writers.

My biggest find this past month was a ONE CRAZY SUMMER by Rita Williams-Garcia, a id's book for 9-12 year olds. It is set in 1968 during the civil rights movement. I was then almost the age of the main character in 1968. The author caught so well the eye of that age --- both the innocence and that special way of seeing through junk. One of the nest books I have read in some time. For me, it was such a find, as book that reached a special place. I have to read more by her. Such a good story teller.

Good wrap up for Jan. Sandi! I read two new to me authors this month whose books I will continue to read--Christyne Butler and Anna DeStefano. I read two favorite authors--Jodi Picoult and Elizabeth Lowell. I learned from Jodi's book that even a fav author can write a book you are not crazy about. From EL's book I was reminded how much I like her heroes. I read less books than I usually do in a month's time but two of them were over 400 pages. I am happy with the number because this year I am going more for quality then quantity.

After starting January reading the 2nd & 3rd book of Leslie Parrish's Black Cats books I read a Blaze that I had missed sitting on my TBR shelf & then revisited Nora Roberts MacGregor family. I enjoyed each book thoroughly. Now I am reading Victoria Dahl's book Start Me Up. She was a new to me author last year. I'm doing the A-Z Hero/Heroine Challenge and so far so good. The book I am reading will give me a Q on the Hero. Wonder if there will be a Q Heroine down the road?
Last year I read Robyn Carr's Grace Valley series after discovering the Virgin River books and was eagerly reading her backlist. I haven't read any of the new Virgin River books but will buy & read all of them. In fact, in a little bit I am off to do some shopping which will include a trip to Border's with my coupon!

I got caught up on some of my Harlequin Super Romances that were piling up on my tbr shelf.. I read a series called "Those Merrett Sisters", by Abby Gaines. Titles in order, Her So Called Fiance, Her Secret Rival and Her Surprise Hero. These young woman would do anthing to get their father, the head of a prestiges Law firm, Love.. And in the end they had not his but found strong men who knew how to protect them, but love them too.. Great books.

I drifted from new books in January and read Parick Swayze's biography, The Time of My Life. He was pretty frank about his faults and boasts. The new author (for me) is Allie Boniface. I have started her book, One Night In Boston, and it is hard to put down and do anything else. She makes her characters and the situations just seem so real and you are anxious to learn what comes next.

Good month ender Sandi. Maybe you should do this subject every few months.

For me, I didn't read any new authors. Enjoyed all the books I read though - an SRS 3-in-1, 2 Blaze, a Desire and Stuart Woods lastest. In the middle of a Presents, which I'm hoping to finish tonight. I'm doing two challenges - A to Z authors/titles. I should get some more reading in this year now that I'll be having my hour lunch at work by myself, which should help. We shall see!

I read a couple of books which had been in my TBR pile for some time: "Once More, at Midnight" (also a new to me author) and "Cinderella and the Sheikh" (also a new to me author). I concentrated on historicals, my favorite genre, my favorite being Lynsay Sands' "The Brat." There were also several Silhouette Desires, and Harlequin Presents and Romances in the mix. I followed the mini-challenge for January and managed to go "Around the World."

I read 12 books in January. Most of them Silhouette Desires because I got really behind on those. The highlights of January for me was Maverick by Diana Palmer. A Highlander Christmas by Janet Chapman and Shattered by Joan Johnston. No New authors, no challenges, or new genres.

My biggest goal for January was not to add to the TBR. Unfortunately, it was a big buying month, so I am two shy right now, but I am determined to not buy any in February until I catch up with January. As for my highlights, I read two super Holly Jacob's Super Romance books - Unexpected Gifts and A One of A Kind Family.

I did read a book for a book discussion I probably would not have read otherwise and really enjoyed it and that was,The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. You had a great month reading, I think I only fit in about 5 books this month.

I read more Philippa Gregory, and some romantic time-travel. I always pick one from to read list then I try something completely different, then I enjoy as much as possible.
