Tara Sue Me | The Rule Breaker
October 2, 2013
I've always been the obedient one. The compliant firstborn. Teacher's pet. I
always make up my bed and I've never had a speeding ticket. It would make sense,
then, to assume I always follow the rules. And I do. Usually. One of the writing rules I always hear is "Write what you know." On the surface,
I'd agree with that. If an author's writing about a cattle ranch, the reader
expects them to know something about cows and ranch hands. If I'm reading a
historical set in the Regency Era, I expect the author to have done research
into the time period. I'm a scientist by trade and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over ten
years. Not the most exciting of professions and while I could possibly write a
novel about drug development, it'd wouldn't be all that interesting. On the
other hand, my husband is in law enforcement and I'm willing to be he could
write a captivating book. He just doesn't want to. I've never kept it a secret that I have no personal BDSM experience. In fact,
when I started THE
SUBMISSIVE, I actually asked myself, "Are you sure about this?" But I
finally decided that one, if I was going to write erotica, I might as well write
it big and two, the characters weren't going to let me take the story in any
other direction. THE SUBMISSIVE and THE DOMINANT are relatively
light when it comes to BDSM, but THE TRAINING is different.
Nathaniel and Abby dive deeper into the lifestyle and I knew I would need
additional help and guidance. Fortunately, I have several friends who are either
in the BDSM community or have been at some point. As an author, these types of
friends are priceless. These are the people I would call to say, "I have this
idea for a scene, let me bounce it off of you." These are also the people who would read over my drafts and provide feedback
like, "You have her in this position too long," "This combination is dangerous,"
and my personal favorite, "Did he ever take the nipple clamps off? Ouch!" Now, almost four years after I wrote THE SUBMISSIVE, I've
learned a lot about BDSM. But like anything, it seems as though the more I
know, the more I discover I don't know. Learning is a journey you'll never
complete. Or at least you shouldn't. There's always more out there to discover.
As a writer, I don't find that discouraging, I find it exciting. Even if it
means I have to break a rule or two.
It started with a hidden desire. Millionaire CEO Nathaniel West has always played by his own strict set of rules,
ones he expects everyone to follow—especially the women he's dominated in his
bedroom. But his newest lover is breaking down all his boundaries and rewriting
his rule book. Abby King never imagined that she would capture the heart of Nathaniel West, one
of New York City's most eligible bachelors—and its most desirable
dominant. What
began as a weekend arrangement of pleasure has become a passionate romance with
a man who knows every inch of her body and her soul - yet remains an enigmatic
lover. Though he is tender and caring, his painful past remains a wall between them. Abby knows the only way to truly earn his trust is to submit to him fully and
let go of all of her lingering inhibitions. Because to lead Nathaniel on a path
to greater intimacy, she must first let him deeper into her world than anyone
has ever gone before... Tara Sue Me lives in

I typically follow rules too, and I was the oldest of five kids. I was sneaky or blackmailed my way through rules I didn't agree with. Lol!!! Your book sounds really great, can't wait to read it so I can learn about the BDSM lifestyle. (Tabitha Keener 1:12am October 2, 2013)
I am a rule follower unfortunately, my kids tend to go on the rule breaker or rule bender side of the road! (Darci Paice 2:27am October 2, 2013)
I would love to win and review this (Jane Squires 4:01am October 2, 2013)
Oh wow - I am in love with this story already - when I was younger I was usually the good girl - usually - :-) However I used to maneuver my way around things, too - still do at times, also! (Felicia Ciaudelli 8:23am October 2, 2013)
This story sounds so good. I like to follow the rules but do it with creativity to get what I want. That way, I am still winning, but doing it within the loopholes of the system. (Janet Shook 8:28am October 2, 2013)
I love the title and really can't wait to read this book! (Bonnie Capuano 8:40am October 2, 2013)
Love the title... :) And great plot! (May Pau 9:25am October 2, 2013)
I read your first paragraph and laughed. I'm the same on everything except for the speeding ticket. I have had a few of those. I think I'm meant to be a race car driver in another life! ;) (Sue Galuska 9:30am October 2, 2013)
You can call me the frustrated, obiedient one, because I've stayed obiedient pretty much all my life!! I've done whatever was expected of me, by everyone else, until just recently. I figured that at my age now, I've spent half of my life keeping my mouth shut, and doing what I was told. Now I can spend the other half opening it!! As to your book, I have never read a book of this genre before, and don't know how you could write about this type of relationship, but I give you credit nonetheless. It'll be interesting reading, that's for sure, and I'll be sure that my tea isn't too hot when I drink it, because I'm sure it'll heat up all on its' own!!! :-) Love the cover, too!! (Peggy Roberson 10:05am October 2, 2013)
I'm eager to learn something new. Love finding a way around the rules! (Beth Elder 10:27am October 2, 2013)
I have been good and follow the rules. Sometimes it is frustrating but my nature. Congratulations and best wishes on this wonderful book. (Sharon Berger 10:30am October 2, 2013)
A man writing his own rules. Sounds interesting... (Richard Proctor 10:55am October 2, 2013)

Intriguing title....I'd love to win this book! (Jane Cavanaugh 1:13pm October 2, 2013)
Wow, Congrats on your new book: THE TRAINING. I usually am great at following the rules but am always thinking of new ways to make things better in life. Your book sounds fascinating and I would love to win and read it this Fall. Thank You very much. Cecilia CECE (Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez 1:41pm October 2, 2013)
I enjoyed reading your post. I don't expect the authors whose stories I read to necessarily have a large background on what they write. Though I bet it makes it easier. (G. Bisbjerg 2:11pm October 2, 2013)
I've always been the "good" girl too. I like that you write outside what you "know" though. Its much more fun and exciting. (Amber Hall 2:18pm October 2, 2013)
love the title sounds great (Patricia Lambert 2:39pm October 2, 2013)
I've always been a person who follows the rules, as well. Maybe that's why I like to read books that portray characters who don't necessarily act as I would. I don't think anyone can know everything there is to know on every subject, but it's good that you have people you can talk to for your research. I would enjoy reading The Training, and I love the cover! Congratulations on the book, and thanks for the chance to win!!! (Linda Brennan 3:02pm October 2, 2013)
Sounds great! (LeeAnne Hardin 4:31pm October 2, 2013)
Sounds like an awesome book (Gina Keitz 5:26pm October 2, 2013)
I don't think that there is a "good" person out there. There might be but it's so few. I haven't read the book but I do want to read it. I'm not a big fan of BDSM but I give it a try if I like the story. Thanks for the giveaway! (Sandy Xiong 7:28pm October 2, 2013)
Learning is always cool. The more I learn about a subject the more I know I need to learn more. I'm adding you to my to read list. (Laura Gullickson 8:06pm October 2, 2013)
I wouldn't know half the stuff to even begin to write about it. Anything I know about is because I have read it, lol. (Vicki Hancock 9:58pm October 2, 2013)
I want to read this story. It's hot and steamy and so forbidden. (Kai Wong 11:34pm October 2, 2013)
Love the book cover and the title of your great new book! I am a rule follower and would love to read about someone bending and rewriting the rules (nobody's perfect)!!! (Linda Luinstra 5:33pm October 3, 2013)
Ah the tension between submission, rule following and rule breaking. Now I'm picturing you cuffed to your desk chair. (Mary Ann Dimand 8:23am October 10, 2013)
great cover the book sounds very sweet also i love the reconn ecting books between the girl and guy after long seperations (Denise Smith 9:15am October 10, 2013)
I'm one that follows the rules sometimes reluctantly! Would love to read this book! (Bonnie Capuano 10:09am October 10, 2013)
A story with a soldier is always good. (Richard Proctor 10:55am October 10, 2013)
I'd love to read this! (Rhonda Brittingham 9:19am October 15, 2013)
The rules are meant to be for one person's advantage. But it sure is fun to see what happens when the rules are broken and usually the submissive person doesn't change, yet compromises a lot. (Alyson Widen 5:37pm October 31, 2013)
