One of my most memorable Samhains was when we celebrated it with a coven in New Hope. People from all over the country were there. The ritual was performed outside & it was beautiful. Inside there was a fireplace in the bar...we had a dance floor in another room. People were also outside on the enclosed porch. It was an experience that I will never forget.
I am going to be a cat... My daughter is going as a butterfly... her favorite... I think Halloween is her favorite day next to her x'mas and her bday... :)
I'll probably accompany my niece as she goes trick or treating, but I won't be getting a costume this year.
I will be helping my Son and his family of 5 while they trick or treat this year. They are all dressing up as The Incredibles..Father Bob,Mother Helen. My Grandson who is 6 will be Dash,my Granddaughter who is 4 will be Violet and my Grandson who just turned 1 will be Jack Jack..This should be a really fun year for all of us..
I was cruella de vil last year...not sure what i'll be this year... Ideas?
we always go all out for Holloween i think most likly why we do it is beacause it is my little brothers birthday the house get dect out we all dress up and have a party every year
My favorite Halloween times were when I was a kid - my mother made my costume every year. Most years, nobody could even recognize me!
So many fun memories but I think last year when my daughter
I remember my eyes growing big with a supersize candy bar from one home as a kid. Nowadays, I plop on my witch's hat and long gloves and pass out Halloween pencils. Some of the kids say they're going to take them to school and write something with them. So I feel as though I'm passing on the writing tradition.
I remember in college some of us used to go trick or treating for drinks---what fun we had.
I would have to say my favorite costume was when I was pregant with my daughter. I dressed up as a nun, so I was a pregant nun. I got a lot of laughs and a few dirty looks from some older people. Now my fav memories are taking my kids out and dressing them up.
Now I love Samhain, it is such a wonderful magical time and I also like dressing up for the more commercial, "Halloween" part of it. I mean really, how many times can you really walk around in full dress up mode? So I take advantage of the opportunity every year. Probably the best costume I ever had was when I was hanging out with a friend mine who was this really earthy, wonderful wicked old biker by the name of Jim, it was before Halloween and there was a full sized skeleton hanging up in the ceiling. it's bony hands cupped near it's chest. "You know I am picturing that as a really cool bra," my friend said. "See how it's hands are cupped?" I knew my friend had been through some difficult times recently and knew would do him a world of good to be given the challenge. Besides who could pass up a skeleton bra? I certainly couldn't. So I said to him, "Brother Jim, if you make me such a bra, I will wear it to Samhain. He did, and I talked my boyfriend into dressing as the grim reaper and I went as Deaths girlfriend dressed in nothing but the bra and a long skirt that was many layers of black gauze. I didn't win the costume contest by my old biker friend won an award for the making of it. it was a really happy moment. And a couple of months later my old biker friend died. I still have the bra and the memory of my beloved friend, and how happy he was at that day.
No big plans. A party or two hopefully. I see a witch in my future.
I have a squirrel costume for our dog, my son is going to get dressed up like a dog. I am not sure what I am going as. My son wants me to get dressed up like a hunter. I don't know about that one, though.
My most memorable Halloween was definitely my son's first. I
Some friends and I are planning on going to Helen's Bridge in NC. It's said to be haunted.
My best story was when I was 11. I dressed up as a Gypsy and stuffed my mom's 32DD bra so I really looked the part. Well, mother wouldn't let me go out trick or treating until after I did the dishes. Never having had big boobs before they were in my way the entire time. I ended up with soggy boobs . I mean they were wet! It's funny now but I was really upset back then. I even yelled at my mother saying, "I NEVER want "THINGS" this big!" She told me I'd damn myself. In her mind I did because I never got bigger than a 34A, but I like it that way. I never have to worry about them being in the way.
I loved Halloween (still do, wish I had space to store fun
I use to love to sit on the porch and give out the candy to the children. They were so cute. Now I live out in the country and no one comes out this far. As far as Cat and Bones, there is just something that draws you to them. I haven't met a person yet that's read them that doesn't fall in love instantly!
My favorite Halloween would have to be my youngest's first Halloween. His older brother was probably 6, and my little one would have been almost 2. My husband was out of town, so I took them trick-or-treating. The little one was in a stroller, but in a costume - I think he may have ended up with more candy than his brother! They had so much fun, got all kinds of attention :).
I don't have a story of a scary Halloween costume about myself. I was the boring kid in the family who always wanted to be 'Snoopy' but my neighbor's Texas Chainsaw guy scared me to death.
I hope this Halloween is going to be the best yet. I'm traveling to California
Every October, not just Halloween I love to watch scary
As a physical therapist, I decided to be the "Queen of Pain" with a shirt I made saying so, silver go-go boots, leather crop hanging from my hip, tiara, and lots of sleazy makeup. I opened the waiting room door to call back a new male patient. Turns out he was in high school and his mother was with him. I called him back and his mother looked me up and down and said "I'm coming back with you!" The looks on their faces was PRICELESS! The next year I was a pycho therapist who "maimed to please"...I have photos but don't know how to post them? Suggestions?
Last year my husband and son decided to play a joke on my sons friends. He invited his girlfriend, her friend and her friend's boyfriend who also played football with my son to come over to watch a scary movie. They had the video camara set up. My husband had a Hockey mask on and a chainsaw with no chain all ready. My husband shut the lights to the house off and my son told everyone he was going to check the breaker. In the mean time all the kids(all juniors) were huddled on one couch and you could here them saying how scared they were. My husband comes around and bands on the window and they all scream. The guy was actually the loudest! My husband comes in but was laughing too hard. The video shows one of the girls hitting the coffee table and saying Pete(my husband) that's not funny!! It was pretty good and we all still watch it and laugh.
When my kids were young; I would host a party and we would
I love Cat and Bones because of their natural bantering. That is so important to me to build chemistry and to win over my heart. I want to see how they interact and if their personalities mesh. They can argue, love but still be endearing :)
When I was in college, a group of us decided to go find a
I will be the person manning the door while my mother, sister and nephews go around for Trick Or Treating... later we will get together and have our Smores party! Happy October!
When i was a child we use to go to the annual Halloween party at school. We had so much fun they had bobbing for apples,a cake walk, haunted house, lot's of goodies. It makesme want to be a child again.I love the autumn the colors, peoples decoration in their yards. The crisp air
One of my favorite Halloween memories is from many years ago right after the release of the first "Jaws" movie. We took our young sons out trick-or-treating and when we got to this one particular house in the neighborhood, we couldn't figure out what all the commotion was all about with people lined up to get inside their doorway, until it was our turn. The loud music was playing from the "Jaws" movie and from behind their sofa a huge shark with all the teeth arose and their was a guy laying on the floor with a half watermelon laying on his abdomen with spaghetti in it, with his shirt buttoned around it, along with fake blood on his arms and face. So it appeared as though the shark had chomped a bit out of him and his guts were hanging out. It was pretty scary and intense, even for the adults to look at--but very clever and well done. The shark was made to perfection and was huge and as realistic as the one in the movie! That music from that movie is so unforgettable. It was quite an exciting night we've never forgotten! I'm looking forward to reading your new book.
Since both of my kids have autism, my husband and I have been
I think Bones and Cat are so sizzly because she was so hestitant at first and was just so opposed to their being together, that just makes it all the more sweeter, and all the more hot.
I love to get dressed as a black cat, the makeup is my favorite time.
Scariest story,I went to vist my brother ,and my nephew was showing me around the new house, they were renting. I went to look at the basement and when I open the basement's door I just froze in my tracks. At the bottom of the stairs was a ghost, young man, and he was smiling up at me. He then said "I've been waiting for you. I dare you to come down." I just said " I don't think so." And closed the door. I turned to my sister-in-law and said "Cheryl ,you have a ghost in the basement." That's something I never thought I would say to anyone. Cheyl wasn't surprised, there were other strange things going on there. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up on ends, just thinking about it.
My most memorable Halloween was last year when at my best friends annual party, some kids dressed up as goth and/or zombies crashed and stole my camera and another woman's wallet. The funny thing is we were all wondering who they were as it was a smallish party and they seemed awfully young to be in our crowd. We discovered the theft about 30 minutes after they left en masse when I went to go get my camera and it was gone! We kinda laughed at first b/c who would be brazen enough to just come into a party and steal? Obviously we were a bit naive. Not a very fun, Halloween themed post but it does stick out for me :)
I think for me the scariest was when I was about 7 and the
my daughter was about 8 when sbe came to me with her Queen
I teach in a special education preschool classroom, and I'll be dressing up as FANCY NANCY this year.
My fav Halloween memory is my 20th Halloween. I dressed my boyfriend up as a vampire and died his hair black. I went as a catholic school girl.
Last year's halloween costumes were a complete nightmare. The mommy group I am in all had made plans to sew our childrens costumes in a variety of alphabet letters, using foam as filler. I am not an experienced seamstress. The most I know how to do is sew on buttons and repair a hemline. So I totally shocked the group when my 5 little alphabets showed up in black T shirts and Jeans with their Letters painted on in neon, glow in the dark colors. Each child had their name painted on their face in caligraphy, and they loved it!! I "dressed up" by wearing some fangs. lol. The other children had shed their costumes less than an hour later and my children still wear the halloween clothes (even though some are tight). My children are ages 2,3,5,7,9 and they want to be vampires this year, so they can wear fangs. Yay!!
My favorite Halloween was last year, my first as a new mother. I dressed my 3-month old son as a pumpkin. It was the cutest sight I've ever seen, especially when I propped him next to our jack-o-lantern and he was just about the same size. It was of the happiest moments in my life!
Cat and Bones are so sizzly because they understand eachother
My son thinks of interesting Halloween costumes and then opts for something bland. Last year he wanted to be the ghost of Abraham Lincoln abd I made him a spiffy posterboard tophat before he insisted on being "just a ghost. Then he thought that this year he'd be "an English person selling oatmeal"-- and then he just wanted to be himself. But when I started talking about how he could carry avatars of LEGO Star Wars and Angry Birds, he shifted back to ordinary ghost.
I usually just wind up giving out candy
I'm going out to a Halloween party at one of the local casinos this year. Normally I dress up to hand out candy.
I've dressed as Harry Dresden for Halloween before - any
Broke my foot so I will be sitting on the sidelines handing out the treats this year but have 2 teenage daughters that are going all out for Halloween as usual. One is going to punk out and the other is going goth.
Just a plain old fashioned ghost, simple and on point.
