Bonnie Edwards | Earthy, Irreverent – that’s me! (oh, yes and a little bit lovestruck)
January 24, 2011
Hi everyone! It’s great to be here and I have to thank the gang at Fresh Fiction
for inviting me. I’ve been learning something about “author branding” lately and trying like heck
(okay I said heck but you know I mean the other h word – the hot one) to come up
with something that suits me, the person, and me the author. These are not
separate people to me. I don’t know that I have a public persona. I’m just me,
always. I’m the sort of person who decorates a lovely staircase with a trailing
philodendron under a skylight. It’s all very elegant and pretty. Until, in a fit
of irreverence, I slipped a purple glass garden slug on the side of a step
overlooking my front hall. Yes. . . look closely and you’ll see my irreverent
side. In every story I write, there’s an edge of irreverent humor I cannot and
will not suppress. I take almost nothing seriously. Life’s too short and if you like a little fun
in your romance novels, sooner or later, you’ll find me. And today, you’ll find
me in full form in STROKE OF
MIDNIGHT, my newest release from Carina Press. For excerpts of my other stories, you can check my website at www.bonnieedwards.com or
even here, with the fab folk at Fresh Fiction who have
been kind enough to provide me with an author page. How fun is
that? An unlikely Cinderella… When hardworking single mom Jaye Sinns meets younger playboy Alexander
Carmichael, the sexual chemistry between them is undeniable. So Jaye gives in to
temptation and allows him to whisk her away for her first-ever vacation. Two
glorious weeks of no inhibitions, no strings and no responsibilities. A charming prince of a guy… Life with Alex is every woman’s fantasy—sizzling sex in the back of a limo, on a
private plane, in exotic settings. But it’s not enough to fulfill a woman like
Jaye for long. No matter how hot the sex is. A happy ending? Alex is soon craving more than Jaye’s body: he wants her love and admiration,
too. For the first time in his life, he can’t buy the thing he desires most; and
now he must decide if he’s willing to work at being the kind of man that Jaye
needs, and give her the happily-ever-after she deserves. Bonnie Edwards

Good to meet you Bonnie! I bow to those authors who write great books full of grim, deep and tortuous plot, but what I LOVE is when there is also a thread (or, 'heck' a full skein) of humor to contrast with the life-changing elements. After all, life is chock full of irreverence, just the way I like it. (Diana Troldahl 4:14pm January 24, 2011)
I enjoyed 'meeting' with you. (Mary Preston 4:16pm January 24, 2011)
When you said "branding" I thought I was going to get a bit of a lesson in how to "brand" something. That's where I'm at in my life at the moment...trying to figure out how to brand the place I work for.
Oh well, when I need a break from the stresses of figuring out the whole "branding" thing it sounds like I can find the break I need in your new book. I love humor in books, so when I finish posting this, I'll be off to Carina Press to check out more of your book. (Sandi Shilhanek 4:19pm January 24, 2011)
Hi Diana, Thanks so much for the welcome, and it's lovely to meet another irreverent soul.
I just realized my author picture here needs to be updated. But then, I'm younger in this one. LOL Yep, I think I'll leave it as is for the moment and just enjoy the view.

LOL Bonnie, until about a week ago, I was using a photo from the 1980's on my facebook page :-} (Diana Troldahl 4:46pm January 24, 2011)
Bonnie, my mother told me how much she enjoyed your book so will be buying it shortly. Humor is something we need so much in our everyday life especially in our books (Susie Adair 5:13pm January 24, 2011)
Sandi - Branding for an author is like trying to give readers a very quick peek into the type of book an author writes. YOu know...dark, paranormal...chick lit...but hell (oh, yeah, I said it) even if I'm writing ghost stories or a novella with a little suspense..I'm still irreverent, still earthy and I'm always lovestruck(a friend told me I live my life that way: love writing, love romance/family/the dh and so on) (Bonnie Edwards 5:26pm January 24, 2011)
Susie, please please thank your mother for recommending me. How cool is that? You've made my day!
(Diana - LOL on the FB photo -- I've seen some there that I shake my head at --- but I'm sure yours is gorgeous dahhhling) (Bonnie Edwards 5:28pm January 24, 2011)
Sounds great. I love those hidden gems of humor. (Maria Munoz 5:34pm January 24, 2011)
Diana, I just friended you on FB...anyone who loves "Some Like it Hot" is a friend of mine. I'm also a huge fan of the ridiculously hilarious chase/race movie: It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Can we say stupid fun?
Can we say some of the best one-liners in movie history? Oh, yes, you'll find them there.

Congratulations on the new release, my irreverent friend! There's a reason we like to hang out together. (Alexis Morgan 6:14pm January 24, 2011)
Sounds like a good book. Good luck to you with the new release! (Diane Sadler 7:59pm January 24, 2011)
Congratulations! Sounds Like a Great book! (Brenda Rupp 9:30pm January 24, 2011)
We all know that in real life that love isn't all serious. There are those moments where we have to take a step back from the situation and laugh at something once in a while!! If we didn't, we wouldn't be human, now would we?? Or, perhaps, maybe we should be in the paranormal blog?? I'm just kidding!! lol I, too, have a sense of humor, although it may be a bit warped at times, but that's what keeps me young. It has also given me a diverse set of friends who I love dearly. Congratulations on your new book. I will be sure to read it, since you let the cat out of the bag!! (Peggy Roberson 10:13pm January 24, 2011)
Book sounds great. And do Not change your irreverent side we all need an outlet and thats yours and remember we are all beautiful in am irreverent way. (Vickie Hightower 9:37am January 25, 2011)
Yes, Alexis, there is. (the dh always knows when it's you on the phone, b/c I'm cackling with laughter) (oh, yes, and he knows I'll be on the phone for a LOOONNNNGGGG time! )
Thanks for stopping by you fang loving, Paladin-writing woman!
Bonnie (Bonnie Edwards 11:25am January 25, 2011)
Diane and Brenda...thanks so much for taking the time to visit here. I hope you like your romance hot! Bonnie (Bonnie Edwards 11:27am January 25, 2011)
Peggy and Vickie! My kind of women...yes, life and love should all be taken with a strong dose of humor. Oh my! We all know some dour folk and I often wonder how they face the really serious stuff life throws at us if they can't laugh?
The bad times make us appreciate the better times and laughing and humor make it all the sweeter. Just my opinion, but I think a lot of the ladies here agree.
I'll check back again later. Thanks to everyone for commenting on my short, hot story. Bonnie (Bonnie Edwards 11:32am January 25, 2011)
Poor Kindle is going to have a load on his shoulders Tuesday with all the new releases. I think I need to add a few of your's to the list. (Christina Harrison 6:11pm January 25, 2011)
Oh, Christina, thanks so much! Please check out my excerpts. I think all my books, except The Hard Stuff are available on Kindle. I've asked about that one, but back then, they were picking and choosing which books to Kindle and it just never happened. Odd, because that books been back to print 3 times after the first.
Thanks for stopping by! (Bonnie Edwards 7:58pm January 25, 2011)
A bit of humor teases in a romance and keeps me wondering when the next tidbit will be revealed. This sounds like a book that's almost too hot to handle. (Alyson Widen 11:55am January 26, 2011)
Alyson...almost is impossible! And it's short. (g)
