Attending conferences, conventions, and fan events are a great joy for me. It's wonderful to spend time chatting with everyone from friends to readers to industry professionals and bloggers. One of the questions I am constantly asked is what is it like being married to a Navy SEAL. So, for my second book in the West Coast U.S. Navy SEAL series--ONCE A SEAL--I focused on this rather unconventional and yet somewhat unique journey.

The story opens with a wedding on a beach; something that has happened many times on the Amphibious Base in Coronado, CA and moves onto a celebration at one of the most iconic hotels in the area--Hotel del Coronado. After a rather spicy honeymoon, the story transitions into being married and all of the ups and downs associated with that.

I believe many wives can relate to the havoc that ensures. And, just to make sure I was on track, I interviewed military wives in several branches as well as asking friends outside of the service. It was fairly unanimous that crazy things happen when one's mate is traveling: car problems, house issues, and school projects tend to top the list as well as the emotion of missing one's mate. It all runs side-by-side with the overwhelming desire to bop him on the head for not being there to lend a hand or provide helpful tips.

Overall, ONCE A SEAL was a wonderful book to write, and my husband (retired Navy SEAL) laughed his way through part of it and got very red during the spicy parts. A shout-out of thanks to my editor Leah Hultenschmidt for believing in this out-of the-box book and in me, and a giant HOOYAH to fans and friends for joining me on the journey.

What are your experiences as a wife? Or, if you're single, what do you imagine that they would be?

Once a SEAL

It's going to take a SEAL's strength to make this marriage work

Every woman dreams of marrying the perfect man--handsome, thoughtful, strong, and sensitive--and Aria Kavanagh believes she's found the ultimate hero in Chief Petty Officer Daniel McCullum. But being a U.S. Navy SEAL wife is a serious challenge, especially when the missions are putting more than their love in the line of fire. Can they jump the hurdles and handle the daily rigors without falling apart? Or will the pressures attached to the handsome uniform have them both questioning if their dedication is worth it? Every moment matters when the only thing that truly lasts is love.

My experience as a wife is wonderful. It is like having my best friend with me all the time.
(Pamela Jaenke 10:23am November 15, 2013)

I do know first hand what it's like to be married to someone who is in the Armed Forces. I was married to someone who was in the Reserves, and it took a lot of patience, understanding, and knowledge, to know how things tick, to be married to that type of person. They make wonderful spouses, because they are very understanding in their own way, and have grit. I had what it took, finally to deal with everything it entailed. I just couldn't deal with the outside influences (baggage) that came along with him, and it didn't work. Otherwise, he would have been a great Husband. Anyway, I would love to read your book!! Please thank your Husband for the years he put in to keep our Nation safe. He took on a dangerous job to do so. Congratulations on your book. Great cover, too!!

You for writing such a wonderful new book. I have been
married to my husband for 25 years and we met at the Texas
State Government where we worked for many years. Now,
Retired and Yes, all marriages have their ups and downs in
life. I believe that all life is a challenge for men and
women to unite and get along and work together to be
successful. Your book sounds fascinating and I would love to
win and read it this Fall. Thank You very much. Cecilia CECE

When I was married, on my honeymoon, my husband said, "No," to
the things I wanted to get like pottery (probably impractical
to carry much pottery on an airplane.) Because I was late to
the airport, the luggage arrived a day late, so I never heard
the end of it.
(Alyson Widen 8:53pm November 15, 2013)

I'm single. I would think being married would be a life full of compromises that make the marriage works. Not much experience I could rely on.
(Kai Wong 10:31pm November 15, 2013)

I'm single. I find it very interesting to watch the married people I know. Some of their issues can be very funny.
(Laura Gullickson 11:12pm November 15, 2013)

My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in January. He is the best thing that ever happened to me! I can relate to your thoughts that a couple has to be ready for the day-to-day challenges. I think those challenges make a marriage stronger and make the good times so much better. Once a Seal sounds wonderful! Thanks for the chance to win!
(Linda Brennan 11:58pm November 15, 2013)

Hubby and I have been married 32 years! Mostly good times - very few bad. I wouldn't trade him for anything. I can't wait to read this book, I love reading anything about SEALS.
