Every romance reader knows that a hero can make or break a book. Being the
author of more than 25 novels I’ve had a bunch of heroes. The latest, Sean
Gallagher, is on the cover of my current novel, AN ACCIDENTAL SEDUCTION.
Now, I’ll admit that he doesn’t look quite like I saw him in my mind’s eye while
I was writing the book. Because, even though Sean is bent on ruining the
heroine, Savanna Hearnes, in an effort to avenge his brother, I envisioned him a
little less dour, a little less intimidating and somber. I saw him with an
unruly shock of dark hair, a killer grin and a devil-may-care attitude. But once
my publisher sent me the cover, I was like…oh, yeah (slobber, slobber, swoon)
well, that’s good, too. And look, Savanna seems to agree with my assessment,
because she’s obviously drooling on his shoulder.   The hero of my
Christina McMullen mystery novels has never been on a cover, so he’s all my to
create. I see him like this. Yummy, right? But with a lot of attitude and angst.
He’s a lieutenant named Jack Rivera who causes no end of trouble for Chrissy
from the first book, UNZIPPED, to the latest, NOT ONE CLUE. And I’ve
enjoyed ever minute of it.
But my own current hero is a little different than those two. He’s shorter and
heavier and hairier and…well, okay, he’s a pony. You read that right…a pony.
He’s a little fellow I got from a rescue ranch. His former owners could no
longer care for him so they gave him up. When I saw him on the internet it was
love at first sight. When I saw him in the flesh, I popped him into the trailer
and brought him home. Even though he was 12 years old, an ex-breeding stallion,
and entirely untrained, I was sure he would be the ideal children’s mount. And
he hasn’t disappointed. Since he’s been on our farm, he’s learned to bow, to lie
down and to pull a cart. What a brave little soldier he is. Okay, I admit that
he doesn’t have Sean Gallagher’s six pack abs, or Jack Rivera’s sardonic grin,
but he has his own hirsute charm. And one can never have too many heroes. So how about you? Who are your favorite heroes, fictional or otherwise? I’m

I love that your hero is a pony. What a guy! We had a German Shepherd that would always position himself between any stranger & my children. as well as myself. We always felt safe when Wolf was around. I miss him, for he truly was my hero!

Love the hero as a horse. I don't have any favorite heros. I prefer heroines, who can take care of themselves.

I'm not sure I have any hero's to speak of but I think alot of people are amazing my mom (most of the time) and my boss. all for different reasons though but no I don't think I have any hero's to speak of ;)

My Hero: My Husband of 30 years. He has taken care of me, loved me, put up with me, and stood by me through thick and thin. Yes, everything those vows meant all those many long years ago.
Ms. Greiman, when I first saw this cover, I swooned! Who is this model? And do you know who the artist is? I'll admit, I do so want to win your book, but if not, to the bookstore I happily go!

My hero was my Dad. He was a genius, literally. He could do anything in my eyes. Then he got Alzheimer's and even then his gentle nature came through. Until he reached the point that he couldn't speak clearly, he still asked my Mom every day "What can I do to make things easier for you!" I miss him.

I don't have just one hero, I have to say my parents are my hero's. They have always been there for me and I am lucky enough to have them both healthy and in my life.

I love your cover. It makes me want to read your book, of course. As for my hero, there have been so many in my life that I couldn't single out just one. I think everyone has the power to be a hero at one time or another.

My favorite hero was my dad. He was a decorated WWII veteran, husband of nearly 60 years and father to three. He's been gone almost three years now and I still think of him every day.

My heroes tend to be those that fight for the underdog--the late Minnesota politician Paul Wellstone is a good example.

I have 2 heroes in my life. My first one would have to be my cousin, who was a constant in my life when I was younger, and taught me so many things about nature, astronomy, and music, which I carried over into adulthood. The other hero would have to be my husband, of oourse, who showed me how to appreciate so much, and who stayed with me through the good years as well as the lean years. We've also learned how to "rescue" each other, so to speak, when the other one needed saving in one capacity or another. At times he's had pretty big shoes to fill, since once you get married, a spouse is supposed to take over where a father stops. That didn't come out right, but I think you know what I meant. lol

That's sweet that your hero is your pony. Real heroes are definitely different from fictional ones. To me, the real ones are the ones who are there for the everyday challenges.

What a brave little pony and kudos to you for saving him. My Dad, a WWII vet was a real everyday hero. The father of seven children, he worked his life away on our family farm and sent all 7 of us to college without borrowing a dollar.

My heroes would have to be my grandsons. Their Mother died two years ago and they are both turning into men she would have been proud of.

We can never have too many heroes. A pony is as goosd as any. When we were kids, our neighbor's collie mix spent aq lot of time at our house with us kids. It was very protective of us. One day when the youngest was crawling towards a stack of rocks near our patio. The dog placed himself between the baby and the rocks not letting her anywhere near them.
My favorite fictional hero is Nathaniel from LAST OF THE MOHICANS - the movie. He is everything I look for i n a hero - brave, honorable, a man of his word.

My heros would be my parents. They've raised myself and my siblings all to be decent human beings who work hard and appreciate lifes blessings. All while working 2 full time jobs each and being foster parents to children in need.

My hero would be regular people who overcome difficulties with a smile and never give up. My mom has overcome three types of cancer and she has never given up.

My favorite heroes are everyday ones who are sensitive yet strong and handsome, of course. I think Rhett Butler in Gone With The Wind gets my vote for solid brashness and ruthless business sense.

Of course my hubby is my hero, too of 27 years :) And the book I'm reading now is my hero! I love so much that I read because they so unique and its hard to pick just one hero! I look at them as being a hero for who they are. Right now my hero is Viscount Simon Iddesleigh from Elizabeth Hoyt's THE SERPENT PRINCE. I haven't cried from a book a few times reading it but I did so for this one. I loved how he was so true to his feelings for her and wasn't one who fought them. Loved that!
