Rosemary Harris | Free download of The Bitches of Brooklyn, August 8 & 9! Enter to win a red Bitches tank top.

facebook

Have you ever felt like you were sitting in the middle of a scene from a book or movie? One that's already been written or one you could see yourself writing?

I had that feeling about three years ago and it was the inspiration for my new book, The Bitches of Brooklyn.

Four friends and I had planned an all-girls weekend in Sedona. We had agonized over the location for months (we'd be coming from all parts of the country and wanted to be fair in terms of time and expense.) One of us even created a spreadsheet so we could compare the various choices. And then, at the eleventh hour, one woman had to cancel.  That first night - without her - was interesting.

We didn't trash her (hint about the book?) But I did start to think, hmmmm what if she DIDN'T have a last-minute work obligation?

Happily she didn't do what my character did - send a note saying she'd run off with one of their men.

That was the genesis of The Bitches of Brooklyn. In it the four thirty-somethings at the heart of the story, Jane (a bakery owner), Rachel (a vet), Clare (an unemployed producer) and Tina (a teacher and fledgling novelist) spend the weekend eating, drinking and reevaluating their friendships, their marriages, their jobs and their memories. But when Monday comes, these babes want answers. And they go to vastly different lengths to get them.

Having written four cozy mysteries, it was fun not to feel obliged to have bodies dropping all over the place and to have a non law enforcement professional irrationally inserting herself into a crime scene. Think Paula Holliday with misdemeanors instead of felonies! And...halleluiah...unlike most cozy heroines, they get to have sex.

There's a fair amount of humor - because I can see the humor in practically anything. And if you liked Paula, Babe and Lucy, I think you'll have fun with The Bitches of Brooklyn.

Available as an Amazon download for only $1.99 but on August 8 and 9 it will be free, so please download - and share a copy with your favorite bitch! AND three lucky winners will win this cool Bitches tank top!

Don't have a Kindle? Amazon offers free Kindle apps so you can read a Kindle book on virtually any computer or device.

Will definitely download the book and read it! Thanks!

Looks sweet! I haven't been in that type of situation before
thankfully....all my girlfriends usually drag me to the
flight...LOL
Thanks for the tidbit of your book.

What a wonderful premise and idea. I am captivated with your
book and Sedona is very unique and special.

My Husband tells me that I have a sick sense of humor, because I, like you, can find humor in anything!! I also try to let the humor be known, because keeping things light can help you get through the toughest situations. My life has been like living through a book, and several times I have wanted to put pen to paper and write it out. Even my friends have urged me to do it, but I've chickened out as of now. I'll have to download your book, since we seem to be of the same mind!! If I do win your tank top, I'll wear it with pride!!
(Peggy Roberson 11:20am August 8, 2013)

Even at 96 I love to read. The more books the better.
(Emily Pucko 11:35am August 8, 2013)

The Bitches of Brooklyn sounds interesting especially the way you got the inspiration to write it.
(Timothy Younger 3:04pm August 8, 2013)

Oh....this sounds fun to read! What a neat idea for a story. Thanks for the download. Can't wait to read it.
(Sue Galuska 3:30pm August 8, 2013)

This sounds like a great idea. I'd love to win a t-shirt.
(Wilma Frana 3:31pm August 8, 2013)

Your book sounds like a hoot of a read.
(G. Bisbjerg 3:50pm August 8, 2013)

Can't wait to read your book...sounds very humorous and fun! Sure like your inspiration for the book. Doesn't every group of girlfriends that get together become "BITCHES" ? I sure would love that tank top (it's so cool)!
(Linda Luinstra 6:38pm August 8, 2013)

Can't wait to read!
(Vicki Hancock 6:49pm August 8, 2013)

There are a lot of times my one girlfriend and I look at each other and say "You
couldn't make this sh*t up!" I've even written some of our adventures into a
journal of sorts... for future references when I finally write a book.
This book sounds like a fun read! I'd love to win one of the shirts.
(Becca Luman 7:14pm August 8, 2013)

sounds like a great read and I cant wait to read. thanks for the chance
(Jennifer Beck 10:34pm August 8, 2013)

I'm looking forward to reading the copy of The Bitches Of
Brooklyn that I just downloaded. My nickname has always been
Bitch except I don't usually bad-mouth people (well, unless
it's my husband of course). I got the name because I call it
like I see it and I am who I am so either people love me or
they hate me. So I have the feeling that I will feel like
I'm part of the story and will be cheering the four women on
throughout the book.
(Lisa White 10:36pm August 8, 2013)

I love reading your books. I just love your cozy mystery stories. Thanks for the giveaway.
(Kai Wong 10:51pm August 8, 2013)

Wow, Congrats on your new book: THE BITCHES OF BROOKLYN. I
love the hot looking T-shirt too. Yes, my life has been like
a book and if I wrote about lots of stuff I went through
then it would probably be a bestseller for sure. Lots of
times I feel like I am living in The Twilight Zone. Hee Hee.
Also, they say everyone has a Twin in Life and Rosemary
Harris I believe that I found yours. Our great waitress
Deborah from Dublin, Ireland that works at Sirloin Stockade
in Round Rock, TX North of Austin, TX looks like YOU!!! She
is so sweet and if you are ever here be sure to eat there
off IH 35 and Sam Bass Rd. Off the access road to IH 35. We
eat there on the weekends at breakfast 7:00 am and I love
the Spinach Quiche. I would love to win the T-shirt and read
your book this summer too. Thank You very much. Cecilia

This sounds like a version of City Slickers without the cattle drive!
I hope your book goes well.
(Clare O'Beara 8:36am August 9, 2013)

Hi ladies, thanks for all the kind words!City Slickers without the cattle! Most of the time the B word is used affectionately - these days it can have a whole range of meanings. And the definition of friendship changes as we grow older and are at different stages of life. I hope i've done a fun job of describing an interesting mix of women who are facing lots of challenges and doing it with a sense of humor. Kai - thanks so much for mentioning the Dirty Business mystery series. I like to think this book is Paula and Babe- without the murders! Good luck everyone...don't forget it's still a free download on Friday. Saturday the price goes all the way up to $1.99 ;-)
(Rosemary Harris 9:05am August 9, 2013)

Oooh, Cecilia I would love to have an Irish accent! And everyone keeps telling me how cool Austin is - I'll have the spinach quiche, too!
(Rosemary Harris 9:08am August 9, 2013)

Loved all the "Dirty Business" books. Will try this and hope(believe?) this is as
good or better.
(Sandra Spilecki 3:08pm August 9, 2013)

This is the first time I have heard of this author or the books. I am sure they
will be a good read. Hope I win the give away, thank you.
(Charlotte Wills 4:06pm August 9, 2013)

My 94yr old Mother turned me on to your books. She claims that I resemble some of your characters. I take that as a compliment! If I win, I'll ask Mom if she like to have it.
