Michele Bardsley | Demons Are A Heroine's Best Friend
January 6, 2010
In my January release, COME
HELL OR HIGH
WATER, Book 6 in the Broken Heart series, single mother, vampire, and
demon hunter
Phoebe Allen makes an itty bitty mistake. Okay. A big mistake. She lets lust get
in the way of her
common sense and gets horizontal with sexy Scottish fairy Connor Ballard. Except
he’s only half fairy
… and you know, half-demon. Now, instead of just indulging in a delicious encounter with a yummy Scotsman,
she ends up married
for a hundred years to the very kind of creature she’s usually fighting. That’s a problem. But that’s not as big a problem as Connor’s step-mother, Lilith, who’s been
trapped in Hell for a really
long time and wants out---permanently. Unfortunately, Phoebe is part of the
solution for keeping
Lilith bound to the Pit. Hey, what’s another hot babe, you ask? Well, Lilith
likes to kill people and like
most villains, she doesn’t give a crap who she hurts as long as she gets what
she wants. Trust me,
she’s not a chick you want running around on the earthly plane. I like heroines who are flawed. Oh, Phoebe’s nice, just like most of us. She
tries to do the right thing
even though she’s sometimes done the wrong thing. Or done the wrong demon. Heh.
Mistakes make
us who we are—the good and the bad all mixed up in the equation of shaping our
character, our
moral compass, and our future decisions. Sometimes, like Phoebe, it takes us
more than once to
figure one someone, or something, just isn’t right for us. What will Phoebe decide? That loving the wrong man is better than doing the
right thing? Well, I know
what she does. But you’ll have to find out for yourself … in the story of COME HELL OR HIGH WATER. Get the details about the novel and all the Broken Heart books at www.BrokenHeartOK.com And do tell---what mistake did you make that turned out to be something
wonderful? Leave a comment today and you could be the lucky winner of a $20.00 gift card
from Amazon.

Sounds exciting! I've put it on my must reads list for this year.
Hmmm - mistakes that turned out great... When I was working making microfiche and microfilm, I found a huge mistake and went to my quality control supervisor. Guess the mistake wasn't held against me, as we ended up married about a year later :) (Theresa Dunlap 10:11am January 6, 2010)
I called the wrong person by accident, but wound up making a great friend! (Diane Pollock 10:41am January 6, 2010)
I have soo been waiting for this book! I love this series. I've made several mistakes in my life. Each a new learning experience...but never one that included a yummy man! LOL. (Faith Hayes 11:18am January 6, 2010)
My second child was a bit of an Oops. But the best Oops I have ever made! (Sherry Russell 11:37am January 6, 2010)
Wow, This sounds like a great read... I have to look into this series... as for mistakes the turned out well, at the moment nothing stands out... (Colleen Conklin 12:15pm January 6, 2010)
Your book sounds great. I wish I could offer an example of a mistake that turned out well, but that's not the way thing have been working for me. (G S Moch 12:35pm January 6, 2010)
I also like flawed heroines and heros. This looks like a great read.
Iam enjoying reading the comments and there are some great posts there.
Unfortunately, I can't think of a mistake I made that turned out well....not at all....sigh!!! (Valerie Bongards 1:42pm January 6, 2010)
I forgot about the turkey that was cooking and cooked it longer than I meant to, but it turned out to be the best turkey that I've ever cooked. (Leni Kaye 3:06pm January 6, 2010)
I have added the wrong ingredient to several recipes and found that the recipe was better that way. (Crystal Broyles 3:30pm January 6, 2010)
I cant think of a mistake that turned out great. But I do want to say congrats on the release. Love the series and cant wait to get the chance to read it. (Donna Simmonds 3:34pm January 6, 2010)
This is going to sound weird..I think. The worst mistake that I made was marrying my first husband. The best part of that is that I have a wonderful son and after the divorce and the ex's passing away...I married his best friend and am happier than ever. (Dianne Barskey 3:37pm January 6, 2010)
Mistakes? I don't make mistakes! Congrats on the release Michele! Great read, but then we've come to expect that from you :) (Missy Carlson 3:39pm January 6, 2010)
I am a HUGE fan of this series. I have to say this one was my favorite yet, I was a bit darker than the others, very good read!
Mistakes...can't think of any that turned out good, I am not near as lucky as Phoebe! (Elie Nicewonger 3:43pm January 6, 2010)
The best mistake I ever made was to join my friend and try my hand at writing. It has been heartbreakingly difficult but when I am finished with a story I feel simply wonderful. (Margie Hall 4:03pm January 6, 2010)
I'm so looking forward to book 6!!! Hope the series never ends! (Sue Seeley 4:15pm January 6, 2010)
I thought my now husband was gay when we became friends. We talked about everything. Did everything and then Bam, eight years and three kids later, I am happy. (Rayna Scherer 4:40pm January 6, 2010)
Biggest mistake that turned out right? Moving to the big city to be with my then bf. Ended up breaking up, though we're still really good friends, and am now engaged (getting married in Oct) to his best friend. And my Ex is our Best Man. (Beatrice Chan 4:51pm January 6, 2010)
A demon & a Scotsman - Hmmmmmm.......
At the moment, I can't think of any mistakes that ended up wonderful. (Cheryl Snyder 5:28pm January 6, 2010)
I can't wait for book 6. This series just gets better and better, it's even better when you have the early drafts and out takes, (Elayne Young 5:58pm January 6, 2010)
going away for college felt like an Oops at the times because that was the first time i was away from my family for the first time in my life. but it turned out great--experienced many things, meet many great people, and i found out i can live on my own without my family close by. (Michelle Santiago 8:03pm January 6, 2010)
What a wonderful book and great series. Thank you. (Barbara Ryan 8:04pm January 6, 2010)
My sister (in TN) has already purchased a copy and I (in FL) will be buying my copy this weekend... Thanks Michelle for the can't-put-down stories you write... Linda (One of your Supreme Minions) (Linda Townsend 8:08pm January 6, 2010)
Mistakes aren't so great. They're more eye-opening than anything else. Thanks for the blog. I especially like the horizontal part and the one more thing..."There's a problem" reminds me of the "Oh, and I have one more question" like Columbo on TV right before he left the room where he was interrogating a suspect. (Alyson Widen 8:14pm January 6, 2010)
I'm looking forward to your next book, they make me laugh; I remember once when I was talking on the phone and slicing an onion, I ended up slicing my finger, not off Thank God, but enough to now have a permanent scar. (Diane Sadler 8:17pm January 6, 2010)
I let my Christmas shopping slide to very near the wire, then had to brave the crowds to search and purchase. I ran into two friends I hadn't seen in about a year who happened to be in the same predicament. We laughed and managed to finish the gift shopping, then grabbed dinner together and had a thoroughly fun evening. (G. Bisbjerg 8:23pm January 6, 2010)
I love this series. I am looking forward to the next book. I guess the biggest mistake was when I went to apologize to my fiance (just to make peace) and found him in bed with another girl. Biggest mistake (apologizing) Best results: dumped him! (Kimberley Coover 8:26pm January 6, 2010)
I married the wrong person but got two beautiful daughters out of it. After divorcing him, I remarried, to a man who I have now been with for 25 years. Not only has he treated those two girls like his own, we had three more children together. (Lisa Glidewell 8:37pm January 6, 2010)
I'm racking my brain and can't think of one though I'm sure it has happened at some point in the past.
I do love the Broken Heart, OK series and look forward to the new release! (Michelle K 8:46pm January 6, 2010)

I got pregnant imm after having my 1st child (not planned) and she was the best thing that could have happened to me. She was my angel in disguise. (Dina Stornello 9:56pm January 6, 2010)
Worst mistake was when I noticed that someone was breaking into house when there are people there and have my sister to call 911. She couldn't get the 911 operator to send the police. But because she and I were arguing so loud, the intruder basically took off. (Kai Wong 9:58pm January 6, 2010)
Looks like a great book.as to mastakes Can't think of enything right now.Hope your having a Great new Year. sasluvbooks(at)yahoo.com (Stacey Smith 9:58pm January 6, 2010)
I have never had a mistake turn out well. Just mistakes!! (Mary Preston 10:05pm January 6, 2010)
A cute cover blends a nice intro onto what looks like a great book! (Freda Mans-Labianca 10:15pm January 6, 2010)
This looks likes a great book! No mistakes I made stand out in my mind as things that ended up good. I guess the most positive thing I can say about a lot of mistakes I made is that they were a learning experience--after I was in a car accident (my fault), I became a much better driver, when I'd make mistakes in the lab while I was getting my Master's in microbiology, it taught me to be more cautious about following protocol, etc. (Cheryl Bradley 10:50pm January 6, 2010)
I love that you combined the romance novel with the fantasy genre. This definitely sounds like something I would enjoy reading! Great job! (Melissa Cleaver 11:00pm January 6, 2010)
I transposed numbers on a construction contract and half way thru the job realized my mistake...Thankfully it was in my hubby's favor and he bought us tickets to Hawaii with the extra profit. Looking forward to the new release...Congrats!!! (Mitzi Hinkey 11:12pm January 6, 2010)
You put us all on the spot. I like most of the commenters cant think of a mistake that turned out great except in cooking. I ususally don't use a recipe. I just throw things in and it comes out great. (Maude Allen 11:28pm January 6, 2010)
I hope I'm in the process of one right now... I preordered the B&N Nook so I'd finally have an e-reader! Upon receiving it, however, I discovered that it doesn't read .doc or .txt files (counter to what I'd understood to be true from a conversation with a bookseller early on in the preorder process). So I'm hemming and hawing -- do I return it and buy a different reader that has that functionality, but other problems? Or do I keep it and hope for a software update, since I've already made the purchase? Decisions, decisions.... (Alana Abbott 10:46am January 7, 2010)
Probably getting a degree I never made use of, but I met my best friend because of it so it wasn't a total waste of time. (Sue Ahn 11:28am January 7, 2010)
As a manager I was able to use the mistakes I had made working my way up the ladder as learning tools for my team. (Elizabeth Mitchell 1:50pm January 7, 2010)
My best mistake ever--both my children. I was on the pill both times but I guess life didn't care about that. (Carol Cobun 6:40pm January 7, 2010)
