Spring Fling
Spring Break...Catch the Fever

Erin Quinn

In Arizona, we don't really have 4 seasons. We have 2 springs, a long summer and wee bit of winter. The first spring begins in February when the briefer than brief Winter concludes and the trees begin budding, the flowers blooming and allergies run high.

Summer starts at the end of April (if we're lucking--sometimes it comes early) and runs through September. In the summer, most everything that isn't pampered or desert hardy, dies. It's a harsh time for things living out of doors.

However, in October, second spring is upon us and that lasts until about the middle of December. It's not Fall, because all the flowers start blooming again and the leaves don't change. Allergies are back, but so is the beauty. In fact, I'll be out planting this weekend. :)

Hope spring is springing wherever you are.

Re: Erin Quinn

Erin, I can identify living in the high desert of CA. Spring has sprung & everything is blooming, too. I've longed to grow those lush tomatoes that I did in the mid-west, but as you said, if it's not desert hardy..it won't grow happily!

Jean, I've lived in this climate for so long that I don't think I could go back to "real" weather. :) I do miss those tomatoes too.
