'Exclusive': Live From the Plano Book Club with Mari Madison
Sara Reyes March 17, 2016
This just in:
We're going live with Mari Madison! On St. Patrick’s Day Eve our Plano book club hosted author Mari
Madison, who many readers will recognize as Mari
Mancusi. Her newest book, the first in a trilogy, is a contemporary romance
set in the exciting world of a TV newsroom. JUST THIS NIGHT
(An Exclusive Romance #1) holds nothing back when it comes to the intense
relationships that can evolve between reporters and their photographers, but it
also takes the time to develop the character’s love affairs and home lives. It’s
a sexy read and it was a genuine thrill to have Mari take the time to call in
with us. Mari started by telling us how JUST THIS
NIGHT was one of the first books she ever wrote, pulling exclusively from
her experiences as a TV news producer. Ultimately the book needed more time to
cook and landed in a virtual file cabinet where it hung out for twelve years. We
often hear from authors about the manuscripts they keep under their beds, but
for Mari, JUST THIS NIGHT actually had a chance of seeing the light. Stout cake by
Pasha and mud pie by Samantha capped off a perfect evening with book buddies Having a news producer call in also afforded us the opportunity to ask questions
about her favorite stories (she won two “Emmy” Awards for her segments. And yes,
she impressed us by ), dealing with red carpet antics, and the celebrities who
impressed her (and those who didn’t). Before we knew it, thirty minutes had gone
by and it was time for us to say goodbye. But not before she left us with the
quote of the night: "I wanted to write first
world problems that could be solved with love and sex."
At News 9 San Diego, the hottest stories happen off camera.
Betrayed and abandoned by his wife and left to raise their young
daughter on his own, TV news photographer Jake "Mac" MacDonald has moved to San
Diego for a fresh start. He’s sworn off women forever and devoted his life to
his little girl. But when his brother-in-law drags him out to a night club, Mac
can’t help but be drawn to the cute blonde who asks him to dance. Maybe he can
make an exception...for just one night. A hot fling is exactly what news
reporter Elizabeth White had in mind when she brought Mac home. A quick cure to
help her get over her ex-boyfriend. But things get awkward when her anonymous
hookup turns out to be her newest colleague. Now they must put their attraction
behind them and find a way to work together. But when someone starts sabotaging
Beth’s career, she realizes Mac is the only one she can trust. And maybe their
one night has the makings of an exclusive after all.
