Billionaires, shifters, bikers, oh my! The romance world is made up of all
different characters, but none get readers' attention more than a great heroic
lead. Below we asked three authors which type of hero they enjoy writing about
the most.

My favorite type of hero to write about is the one I love to read—the hero in
pursuit. I grew up reading about the sad heroine who was always pining after
the
hero. He didn’t realize he loved her until late in the story and it was almost
always against his better judgment.
Stephanie Laurens changed that with DEVIL'S BRIDE. In my opinion, that marked a huge
shift in the romance landscape and we started seeing more and more heroes who
were avidly in pursuit of the heroine. One of my favorites is Shannon McKenna’s
BEHIND
CLOSED
DOORS. The hero, Seth Mackey, is watching Raine Cameron because of her
connection with the evil villain. He falls for her almost upon first viewing
and
can’t her out of his mind. Helen Brooks also writes wonderful hero’s in
pursuit.
I highly recommend HIS CHRISTMAS BRIDE. When I view each new project, I end up
writing a hero in pursuit because those are the stories I love reading.
Jen's newest release, REVEALED TO HIM, features ex-military man Jake Tanner as he
pursues (and protects) his heroine.

We all like heroes that are built, badass, and dripping with swagger. But I
also
love writing heroes that are flawed. The best thing about big, bad alpha males,
is when they are brought to their knees by a little bit of a woman—or in the
case
of my latest bookNEED YOU FOR ALWAYS, a sexy food truck chef and her kid
sister. There is something so tender about a former special forces guy who is
trained to handle anything, only to discover he is being handled when he gets
sweet-talked into leading a troop of six year old girls.
Heroes who know where they are going turn me on, and heroes who struggle to
overcome loss with fierce determination tug at my heart strings.
Meet Marina's newest flawed-to-perfection hero Ranger Dax in NEED YOU FOR
ALWAYS, out now.

The type of hero I love writing most? A damaged alpha, hands down. And I’m all
about second chances. I find incredibly romantic the idea of a scarred man,
battle-worn, someone who is headstrong and driven and filled with life
experience, but he’s also been badly broken in some way. He’s a man who has has
loved, and lost love, either by acts outside of his control, or his own screw-
ups. And when he meets my heroine, he’s not certain that he even deserves a
second chance. He’s not certain that he can do it right this time. And he knows
from first hand experience just how much is at stake in opening his heart to
the
possibilities of new love, how wrong things can go. How much it can hurt. But
when he does, he is fiercely determined to get it right the second time, to not
screw up again. And he’s also ready—truly ready—to make a commitment to stick
around through thick and thin, because life, he has learned, is short, and
precious.
And he wants that happy ever after.
In IN THE
WANING LIGHT Loreth embraces the second chance romance as Meg Brogan
returns
to her home town and into the arms of her high-school sweetheart Blake Sutton.
