I have read romance novels for many more years than I have written them. There is something fresh and charming about each story. I trust the author to bring me to a happy ending, though the path to that ending always varies. There is hope in writing about love, and I feel better about the world when I write about two people coming together against all odds and finding each other. There is so much sorrow in the world around us. Romance novels are one place where we can leave sorrow behind, and enter a whole new world, where love triumphs.

Romance novels are a celebration of life. Whatever the sub-genre and whatever the heat factor, in these stories a couple finds each other in the midst of the rest of their lives, usually at the most inconvenient time. They work together to forge a relationship, to build the world of their relationship, a world that only two can enter. And as part of this genre, that relationship ends in marriage. Not a workaday marriage of bill paying and child rearing, but a marriage of bodies, minds and souls. The perfect fodder for fantasy.

Of course, we don’t read and write these novels for the fantasy factor alone. We read and write them to celebrate the love in our own lives, in all its myriad forms. A good romance novel reminds us of how much love exists, and of how precious it is, no matter if it is the love for a husband, a child, or a friend. The beauty of these stories is that they show us our best selves, and ways to reach for those selves in the midst of a wildly changing world. No matter what else happens, love is one thing that lasts.

In Stores in November HOW TO TAME A WILLFUL WIFE by Christy English

How To Tame A Willful Wife:

1. Forbid her from riding astride
2. Hide her dueling sword
3. Burn all her breeches and buy her silk drawers
4. Frisk her for hidden daggers
5. Don't get distracted while frisking her for hidden daggers...

Anthony Carrington, Earl of Ravensbrook, expects a biddable bride. A man of fiery passion tempted by the rigors of war into steely self-control, he demands obedience from his troops and his future wife. Regardless of how fetching she looks in breeches.

Promised to the Earl of Plump Pockets by her impoverished father, Caroline Montague is no simpering miss. She rides a war stallion named Hercules, fights with a blade, and can best most men with both bow and rifle. She finds Anthony autocratic, domineering, and...ridiculously handsome.

It's a duel of wit and wills in this charming retelling of The Taming of the Shrew. But the question is...who's taming whom?

A copy of HOW TO TAME A WILLFUL WIFE is up for grabs, what do you think about love for love's sake?

Re: Christy English | Falling In Love With Love

I think love is wonderful!!!! Take it when you can find it!
(Ashley C 11:06am November 16, 2012)

Love for loves sake---the most sincere type of love I think.
(Sue Farrell 11:07am November 16, 2012)

Great idea. The book sounds good, I'd love to win it.
(Wilma Frana 11:12am November 16, 2012)

I think love for love's sake is great. The best laid plans can go wrong for just this reason!

Your book sounds like an absolutely wonderful escape read, would love to win a copy!
(Susan Davco 11:16am November 16, 2012)

Oh this book sounds wonderful! I want to see everyone find love...
(Colleen Conklin 11:44am November 16, 2012)

Numbers 4 and 5 on the list certainly made me laugh!
(G. Bisbjerg 12:38pm November 16, 2012)

I love the rules for taming a willful wife. It sounds like a whole lot of love is going to be needed to have a meeting of minds.
(Anna Speed 1:04pm November 16, 2012)

I wish that every couple were together for loves sake. There are often other reasons for staying together. That is why I love my romance novels.
(Kathleen Yohanna 1:39pm November 16, 2012)

I think love is a wonderful thing & your list was really fun to read. I am looking forward to reading this book.
(Chelsea Knestrick 1:53pm November 16, 2012)

Finding a lasting love is a great thing, but not easy to find. Book sounds like a great read.
(Sheila True 1:56pm November 16, 2012)

sounds interesting
(Debbi Shaw 2:14pm November 16, 2012)

Love for love's sake is the best. Looking forward to reading
this book.
(Mary Hay 2:25pm November 16, 2012)

The characters in your books sound great!
(Renee Pajda 2:37pm November 16, 2012)

I'm barely getting into the romance genre, but I've liked what I've
read so far. I'm such a hopeless romantic...well hopeful now that
I've met someone. Your book is rather intriguing!
(Samantha King 2:44pm November 16, 2012)

I think the only truly happy relationships are the ones that stay together for
loves sake. How to Tame a Willful Wife sounds like a great romance.
(Ann Sheiring 2:50pm November 16, 2012)

A love that stands through good times and bad.
(Rita Wray 3:08pm November 16, 2012)

It took me two failed marriages to finally find the person who looks at love like I do. I'm sure the other two loved me the only way they knew how but it took finding the man I'm with now to find the kind of love I feel I deserve. One that has no conditions and that takes the good with the bad and hangs on for dear life for the ride. :)Love, and life are good!

(Kent Cook 3:59pm November 16, 2012)

would LOVE to win & read
pretty roses :)
(Pamela Faye Howell 4:00pm November 16, 2012)

Love is wonderful no matter whether it's for the man or woman you fall in love
with or the child you give birth to or even the pet you adopt and adore. Love
makes us feel good. It's the best "high" we could ever have. Love makes me
smile and gives me a reason for living every day.

I had the biggest laugh at The Earl of Plump Pockets! That's so funny. I've
got this novel on my Wish List and cannot wait to read it! Thanks for sharing
this great giveaway and reminder of the best thing in life!
(Connie Fischer 4:11pm November 16, 2012)

A celebration of life...like that thought very much!
(Diana Corlett 4:42pm November 16, 2012)

So true, love is everlasting. I love love novels.
(Shirley Younger 5:02pm November 16, 2012)

WHEN YOU FIND LOVE THAT IS A WONDERFUL THING BECAUSE SOME
PEOPLE DON'T FIND LOVE IN THEIR LIFE THEY FIND HATRED. LOVE IS
A BLESSING TO HAVE AND KEEP HOLD OF IT.
(Shelly Caggiano 5:05pm November 16, 2012)

I totally agree with your assessment of romance novels. I need that happy ending & even to know it is going to come. I love that the characters find a way despite the obstacles. Historical romance has extra obstacles to work with, as there were so many more rules of what was acceptable & what was not. Can't wait to read your book!
(Sharlene Wegner 7:55pm November 16, 2012)

Not everyone could find love. Some marriages are based on compatibility and mutual grounds. Finding love for love's sake is like winning the lotto.
(Kai Wong 8:23pm November 16, 2012)

Love for loves' sake is doable, but a lot of hard work. When you stop and think about being totally in love with a person, but you don't know anything else about them, that can be like stepping on a mine field. You don't know ambitions, or the type of provider they can be, or even if they have a destructive personality, for example. You don't even know if they work tossing burgers somewhere or if they have a great-paying job and can hold down a job, or if they were in jail. These are important things to know besides just being head-over-heels about someone. You need to slow down and get to know more. Your future and your life are at stake, and it goes by in the blink of an eye!! I apologize for being a little long-winded and off the subject, but love is complicated these days!! I would love to read your book, since it sounds like it would be complicated, but just to a degree!! I love the cover!!
(Peggy Roberson 9:56pm November 16, 2012)

this book sounds like a great read...love the cover..thanks so much for the chance to own a copy
(Kimberly Hoefs 9:57pm November 16, 2012)

I think love for love's sake can work in books but I generally like reading about love that is about the friendship and the coming together of two different people.
(Jennifer Beyer 9:58pm November 16, 2012)

This sounds like a good read. Love for loves sake is great and is even better to read about.
(Emily Bowes 10:37pm November 16, 2012)

Love requires a lot of work and nurturing to keep it alive.
(Mary C 11:04pm November 16, 2012)

The list of 5 had me laughing out loud. Love requires
commitment & I need more than 'just' the love.
(Mary Preston 4:59am November 17, 2012)

I enjoyed your list... sounds like a young lady I'd like to meet!
Some people need to be with a partner and will 'settle for less' but you know, that can work out for them too. I don't need to be with anyone and got very lucky finding a great match, took my time getting to know him before deciding. I think there is a lot of unreal expectation put in the way of girls. Young men in particular can be so immature and the girl doesn't understand why the lad isn't devoting hs life to her rather than watch the sports and hang out with his mates... She should wait until she and he are more grown up. Then real romance can come along.
(Clare O'Beara 7:30am November 17, 2012)

Thank you all so much for joining me here and for commenting on my thoughts. I'm in love with love, as I guess you can tell. Peggy, I agree, love is complicated and a lot of work, but worth it.
(Christy English 8:55am November 17, 2012)

And I forgot to mention, thank you so much for hosting me. I hope you guys love the book. :)
(Christy English 8:56am November 17, 2012)

Love is where it all should start, but it takes so much more to make a relationship work.
(Janie McGaugh 3:18pm November 17, 2012)

Chuckled at the ways to calm a willful wife.

Love does, indeed, make the world go round and reading about it makes the world more interesting.
(Gladys Paradowski 4:03am November 18, 2012)

Yep, I'm one of those dreamy lovers and I believe that taming is part of the chemistry between two destined for love.
