I have read romance novels for many more years than I have written them. There
is something fresh and charming about each story. I trust the author to bring me
to a happy ending, though the path to that ending always varies. There is hope
in writing about love, and I feel better about the world when I write about two
people coming together against all odds and finding each other. There is so much
sorrow in the world around us. Romance novels are one place where we can leave
sorrow behind, and enter a whole new world, where love triumphs. Romance novels are a celebration of life. Whatever the sub-genre and whatever
the heat factor, in these stories a couple finds each other in the midst of the
rest of their lives, usually at the most inconvenient time. They work together
to forge a relationship, to build the world of their relationship, a world that
only two can enter. And as part of this genre, that relationship ends in
marriage. Not a workaday marriage of bill paying and child rearing, but a
marriage of bodies, minds and souls. The perfect fodder for fantasy. Of course, we don’t read and write these novels for the fantasy factor alone. We
read and write them to celebrate the love in our own lives, in all its myriad
forms. A good romance novel reminds us of how much love exists, and of how
precious it is, no matter if it is the love for a husband, a child, or a friend.
The beauty of these stories is that they show us our best selves, and ways to
reach for those selves in the midst of a wildly changing world. No matter what
else happens, love is one thing that lasts.

I'm barely getting into the romance genre, but I've liked what I've

It took me two failed marriages to finally find the person who looks at love like I do. I'm sure the other two loved me the only way they knew how but it took finding the man I'm with now to find the kind of love I feel I deserve. One that has no conditions and that takes the good with the bad and hangs on for dear life for the ride. :)Love, and life are good!

Love is wonderful no matter whether it's for the man or woman you fall in love
with or the child you give birth to or even the pet you adopt and adore. Love
makes us feel good. It's the best "high" we could ever have. Love makes me
smile and gives me a reason for living every day.
I had the biggest laugh at The Earl of Plump Pockets! That's so funny. I've
got this novel on my Wish List and cannot wait to read it! Thanks for sharing

I totally agree with your assessment of romance novels. I need that happy ending & even to know it is going to come. I love that the characters find a way despite the obstacles. Historical romance has extra obstacles to work with, as there were so many more rules of what was acceptable & what was not. Can't wait to read your book!

Love for loves' sake is doable, but a lot of hard work. When you stop and think about being totally in love with a person, but you don't know anything else about them, that can be like stepping on a mine field. You don't know ambitions, or the type of provider they can be, or even if they have a destructive personality, for example. You don't even know if they work tossing burgers somewhere or if they have a great-paying job and can hold down a job, or if they were in jail. These are important things to know besides just being head-over-heels about someone. You need to slow down and get to know more. Your future and your life are at stake, and it goes by in the blink of an eye!! I apologize for being a little long-winded and off the subject, but love is complicated these days!! I would love to read your book, since it sounds like it would be complicated, but just to a degree!! I love the cover!!

I think love for love's sake can work in books but I generally like reading about love that is about the friendship and the coming together of two different people.

I enjoyed your list... sounds like a young lady I'd like to meet!
Some people need to be with a partner and will 'settle for less' but you know, that can work out for them too. I don't need to be with anyone and got very lucky finding a great match, took my time getting to know him before deciding. I think there is a lot of unreal expectation put in the way of girls. Young men in particular can be so immature and the girl doesn't understand why the lad isn't devoting hs life to her rather than watch the sports and hang out with his mates... She should wait until she and he are more grown up. Then real romance can come along.
