Terry Shames is the author of ten books in the Samuel Craddock mystery series. Her books have been short-listed for several awards. A Killing at Cotton Hill won the MacCavity Award for Best First Novel. The Necessary Murder of Nonie Blake won the RT Reviews Critics Award. Terry grew up in Texas and continues to be fascinated by the convoluted loyalties and betrayals of the small town where her grandparents lived.

The latest book, Guilt Strikes at Granger’s Store, drew a starred review from Library Journal, which said, 'The Samuel Craddock series may be the best regional crime series around today. This installment is no exception.'

Her new Jessie Madison thriller series debuts in April, 2024, from Severn House Publishing, with Perilous Waters. Terry is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime. She lives in Southern California.
