We had a chance to ask Tracy a few questions about her latest work and series: HAPPILY BEDDED BLISS in the The Rakes of Cavendish Square,
a spin-off series from her Byrons of Braebourne. Here's what she had to tell us!
How did the Rakes of Cavendish Square trilogy come about? Is this a
standalone trilogy or should we read Byrons of Braebourne as well?
I don’t think there’s anything in romance literature more appealing than a loveable
bad boy. With the Rakes of Cavendish Square trilogy, I thought it would be fun to
have a trio of Regency bad boys–or rakes–who all live on the same square in London.
I also wanted to complete my Byrons of Braebourne series by writing stories for the
last three Byron siblings. Identical twins, Lords Leo and Lawrence, had already
grown up to be unapologetic rakes in the Byrons of Braebourne series so theirs was a
natural progression into the trilogy. As for Lady Esme, the youngest Byron, she is
an artistic free-spirit, who despite her unsullied reputation, gives in to the
temptation to sketch a gloriously naked man she finds sleeping near a secluded
country lake. She never dreams that she’s just embroiled herself in a scandal with,
Gabriel, Lord Northcote–her brothers’ notorious rakehell of a next door neighbor
from Cavendish Square.
The Rakes of Cavendish Square novels can be enjoyed on their own with each book’s
focus on a specific couple. However, the books are a continuation of the original
Byrons of Braebourne series with recurring characters who turn up again in the
trilogy novels. For readers who would like to get to know all the Byron family
siblings, I would suggest reading the books from both the Byrons of Braebourne
series and the Rakes of Cavendish Square trilogy.
HAPPILY BEDDED BLISS is about a young woman whose sketch of a naked man
sends shock waves through her family and society, where did you get the idea?
Throughout the original Byrons of Braebourne series, Lady Esme was always
drawing something. When developing her story, I realized that there could be no
better a catalyst for conflict–and ultimately romance–than her art. Plus the idea of
having my heroine accidentally happen upon a hot naked guy sleeping out-of-doors
seemed like a heck of a lot of fun!
3) Esme has a few well meaning but protective brothers who do not take well
to Gabriel, did you model them after anyone?
I didn’t have anyone specific in mind when I wrote the Byron brothers’ reactions to
Esme’s situation, but it’s only natural that older brothers would be protective of a
beloved younger sister. Rather the reaction of each brother to Esme’s potential
disgrace is an extension of their strong, individual personalities, each of which
was developed throughout the original Byrons of Braebourne novels. I just let each
of them be themselves when they’re faced with the dilemma of what to do to protect
their little sister’s reputation.
What's next (or who is next) for the Rakes of Cavendish Square?
Next up is Lord Lawrence Byron’s story, BEDCHAMBER GAMES, the final novel
in the trilogy. Of the eight principal Byron family siblings, Lord Lawrence is the
only one who hasn’t found love. Despite his easy way with the ladies, he doesn’t
believe lasting love is in his future. Instead, he’s turned his focus to furthering
his career as a barrister. Then fate brings a very special woman, with an unusual
secret, into his life. And nothing will ever be the same again.

From the New York Times bestselling
author of The Bedding Proposal comes a
seductive new novel about the most devilishly dangerous men
in London...
When Lady Esme Byron happens upon a
gorgeous naked man sleeping beside a secluded country lake,
she can’t resist the impulse to sketch him. But when her
highly improper drawing is mistakenly revealed at a party,
she finds her once-pristine reputation in
tatters.
Gabriel, Lord Northcote, may be a
notorious rakehell, but he is still stunned to find himself
accused of despoiling a duke’s sister—especially since he's
never set eyes on her. When Esme’s six irate brothers demand
a hurried trip down the aisle, he has no choice but to
comply. He thinks he can forget about his inconvenient bride
but Esme Byron is no ordinary woman and Gabriel is about to
learn just how unforgettable she can be.
