Dear Readers,
It was very kind of Fresh Fiction to give me a place to post a letter to you! KISS THE
EARL is one day old now, and I am over the moon to be able to finally share
this story with you.
The third installment in the Geek Girls series has been a long time
coming. The series went through a rebranding, which is a fancy way of saying a
different positioning for this book than the others in the series. Different
look for the cover, different title, but the story remains the same. Originally
titled THE GEEK GIRL AND THE RELUCTANT RAKE, there’s still a geek girl, and a
reluctant rake, but now they debut under the name KISS THE
EARL instead.
I was nervous about the rebranding process. After all, I’d never done it before!
But my editor, Mary Altman, held my hand every step of the way. Together we came
up with titles, brainstormed looks for the book, even ways to strengthen the
story for those that might not have checked out the first two books in the
series. What we came up with was a book that shines on its own, but still fits
beautifully with the other two books in the Geek Girls series.
I can’t tell you how much it means to me to know that other people are reading
and enjoying my stories. I started writing because I was going broke buying
books. I just wanted to entertain myself, so I sat down and started typing.
Never realizing it would turn into a novel, or that first book would turn into
many, or that this hobby would become a career. I’m a reader. I never, ever
thought that I could actually produce a story on my own. It was an impossible
dream that I’d never thought to achieve. But I did it. Inspired by the thousands
of books I’ve loved through my life, I finally realized what I want to be when I
grow up—an author.
And that’s thanks to you guys—the readers. The feedback you’ve given is so
encouraging, so wonderful that it makes me want to do more. Tell more stories,
write more books. This could have been a passing hobby for me, like knitting or
painting. Something I do for a few months and then abandon. But nobody has ever
come up to me and said, “Gina, that scarf you knitted was so fabulous! I can’t
wait for the next one!”
But you have, for my books. So thank you. To everyone who checks out KISS THE
EARL, one of the other Geek Girl titles, or something else by my
pen name, you’ve got my gratitude. I do what I do because I want to spread joy
and entertain you. So thank you for letting me do what I love. I hope that you
laugh, sigh, and squeal as you read. And most of all, I hope that you feel.
XOXO,
Gina Lamm
About KISS THE EARL
A modern girl's guide to seducing Mr. Darcy

party, she was expecting a blind date. Instead, she's pulled through a magic
mirror and into the past...straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.
Patrick Meadowfair, earl of Fairhaven, is too noble for his own good. To save a
female friend from what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he's agreed to whisk
her off to wed the man she truly wants. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes
Ella for the would-be bride and kidnaps her instead.
Centuries away from everything she knows, Ella's finally found a man who heats
her blood and leaves her breathless. Too bad he's such a perfect gentleman. Yet
