Sometimes, things happen and you have to think there might be a reason.
Recently, someone near and dear to me was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.
Then, Amazon opened it's magic "pre-order" button to indie authors, narrowing
the gap between those who traditionally publish and those who go it alone. (For
the record, Kobo and iTunes already permitted setting up pre-orders.) At the
same time, I had a new book—WINDSWEPT DANGER, book 6 in my Blackthorne, Inc.
series—ready to come out. For a variety of reasons, I'd decided to publish it
late in October, but with the new Amazon system in place, I thought I might try
the pre-order route. I also decided that I'd donate any royalties earned from
the pre-orders to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I was thrilled to see
that within days of announcing the book was available, and where the royalty
earnings would go, WINDSWEPT DANGER hit the top 100 in its sub-genre at Amazon.
If you'd like to help a good cause and get a good read at the same time, I'd
love if you'd check out WINDSWEPT DANGER. Here's a short blurb:
The Stepford Wives meet Hotel California.
Can a feisty security agent who hates taking orders and a covert ops
specialist who has something to prove, put aside their own differences and
their own agendas long enough to uncover the secrets of Windswept Heights? And,
because I'd never ask anyone to plunk down even the 99 cent cost of the book
while it's on pre-order, you can read more about it here. If
you'd like more, the entire first chapter is here.
