We are not planning any big vacation but I do hope to make it to the beach and am really looking forward to Loretta Chase's new book coming out this summer. My favorite recipe is to have my husband grill which leaves me a little bit more time to read.

I don't have any BIG plans for this Summer, but I am getting away to Chicago for a Cubs game and then back to Chicago for a good friend's wedding! What I plan to read this Summer are the new books out from Suzanne Brockmann - Hot Pursuit, JA Konrath - Cherry Bomb, Linda Howard - Burn, Catherine Coulter - Knock Out, Brenda Novak - The Perfect Couple, The Perfect Liar, & The Perfect Murder, JoAnn Ross - Breakpoint, Carla Neggers - The Mist, and Mariah Stewart - Acts of Mercy.
(Kelli Jo Calvert 1:33pm May 20, 2009)

This year our plans revolve around family - wedding in New Orleans, graduation at Chapel Hill NC, wedding in Atlanta, graduation in Willliamsburg VA, wedding in Raleigh NC - all different kids!!!

(Patricia Kasner 1:46pm May 20, 2009)

No big vacation plans this year. We will take a few long weekends to visit out-of-town family, but that's about it!
(Cheryl Snyder 3:04pm May 20, 2009)

We are planning to visit Hilton Head in September, other than that will be weekend trips. I haven't decided what to read this summer yet. Maybe Charlane Harris series.
(Vikki Parman 3:47pm May 20, 2009)

We are planning two weeks in Texas because our son will be graduating from Airforce Basic Training the end of June. I will be taking along my MP3 with Audible books and my Kindle2 with plenty of books.. don't know what yet as it will depend on what I have read by then!
(Martha Eskuchen 5:30pm May 20, 2009)

This summer will be mostly little weekend trips, but there is so much you can do in one or two days. I hope to make it to the mountains and to the ocean beaches.
(LuAnn Morgan 6:49pm May 20, 2009)

My family's summer started early. To avoid the summer vacation crush, we took a trip to London last week. It was our first time there, and it was a wonderful trip.

Now that we have taken our "big" trip, we will probably just take a couple of small trips over the summer.
(Cheryl Castings 11:25am May 21, 2009)

This summer will see me busy at work
- think children's librarian, summer
reading program, new boss. We have
a reunion (45th high school - ouch) in
August. That will probably be it. We
do have plans for September and
October - a 2 or 3 week trip to a
blacksmithing conference in Ohio and
an Air Force reunion in Texas.
Enjoy your summer!
(Patricia Barraclough 10:43pm May 21, 2009)

I don't have beach plans because I live right beside the Mississippi River and can indulge my shoreline yearnings any time I like. But I will spend some time on my paintings and keeping the weeds out of the garden. But I don't really need to vacation . . anytime I get a new book to read I have one!
(Mary Falls 2:49pm May 23, 2009)

It's ten minutes to the beach and it's just about summer all year long here. Our oldest daughter is coming down from NJ with her two youngest and other than a few days in Orlando we're planning day trips.
(Evelyn Day 5:59pm May 23, 2009)

THIS SUMMER FINGERS CROSSED NO MAJOR CATASTROPHES i PLAN ON RELAXING IN MY GARDEN THAT HAS TAKEN UP A LOT OF MY TIME THIS SPRING GETTING BACK INTO SHAPE.
WE PUT A HAMMOCK UNDER THE BIG WILLOW TREE OUT ON THE GREEN BELT SO ON MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS WHEN THE SUN IS HIGH THAT'S WHERE I WILL BE IN THE SHADE SIPPING COOL DRINKS WITH MY FAVORITE AUTHORS.
(Ann w 7:55pm May 23, 2009)

Beach? What beach? Living in the heartland of America, there aren't many "beaches" around. We only get to a beach about every two years when we visit NC.
But that doesn't stop me from reading in the sun! I don't have sand in my shorts but I get my fill!
(Shannon Jensen 10:51pm May 23, 2009)

We have a couple of long weekends planned in June and July, but our real vacation will be the second week of August. My husband and I have lived in New England our entire lives, and neithe rof us have been to either Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket, so we are spending a week on Nantucket at a cute little bed and breakfast. I can't wait to unplug and unwind and listen to the waves as I drift off to sleep.
(Michelle St. James 6:15am May 24, 2009)

Nothing big planned for this Summer... Just hang out by the pool and read a few great books!!! :)

(Stephanie Roop 12:34pm May 26, 2009)

I work at a facility (for adults with MR/DD) that is funded partially by Medicaid and we are gearing up for certification, so I probably won't get much of a 'vacation', per se, this year. I must be one of the few people that has not read even one of the "Twilight" series, so those are on my list. Also looking to pick up ideas from my sister readers here!
(Zebi Slut 12:47pm June 2, 2009)

After surviving a bad bout of Pancreatitis, inflamed liver and a blocked bile duct, I am happy to say that the road to recovery looks good. This summer I am looking forward to a trip to Savannah, Ga. With a book, what else?
(Gail Rabelskie 8:04pm June 2, 2009)

No vacation, but I wish there was. I'm going to try to get some redo work done on my house & yard. Other than that its reading as many of the newly released books as I can get ahold of..
(Jo Ann Jansing 6:59pm June 4, 2009)

I may head home to my parent's home for a week -- they have a pool!
(Shannon Scott 9:55am June 9, 2009)

This summer my BF and I will be visiting the Harley Davidson museum in Milwaukee, WI. He is a Harley Motorcycle fanatic and has been waiting for the museum to open for a long time! We love going on road trips so this will be a fun one!
(Mari M. 2:27pm June 9, 2009)

(Jody Faltys 5:23pm June 9, 2009)

Hopefully get approved for Social Security disability so maybe I could go do something. I live 5 blocks from the beach in Sunny Southern CA so I am not that far from there but my favorite beach is Huntington Beach.
(Rachel Morse 9:23pm June 11, 2009)

Went to Illinois a few days ago to visit family...SUPER FUN!! Want to go to Kansas...I'm poor so we gotta do these mini-vacations :)
(Rachael Grime 11:44pm June 11, 2009)

My summer plans include going away for a week with my family, enjoying the nice, warm weather, and I will be doing lots of reading- finishing up the Twilight Saga, read some Carly Phillips books, and more :).
(Amy Greenwood 5:49am June 12, 2009)

A few mini trips to visit the antibellum homes and old graveyards within about 50 miles of my home. Live on the road that Grant marched down to capture Vicksburg so a of history to be enjoyed. My favorite summer recipe is very easy and very cooling - frozen grapes.
(Jean Paquin 10:16pm June 12, 2009)

This summer a trip to Maine to see Acadia National Park is what is planned with lots of reading and relaxing going on.
(Sara Brockunier 7:33am June 13, 2009)

This summer I have plans to attend one or more bowling tournaments with one or more children! Unexpectedly
(somewhat) I'm also raising a puppy. I'm planning a trip to Chicago to spend my mom's 81st birthday with her.

As for reading plans? I don't really have one except to continue trying to read as much as I can. A long time ago I
used to have a summer reading plan, but that fell by the wayside many many years ago!

Hope everyone has a great summer!
(Sandi Shilhanek 9:13am June 13, 2009)

No big vacation this year. But will be going to see my daughter graduate from AIT (Military training). She's in the Army. Little scarry for me in these times, but it's what she wants and I support her. BUT I will be reading, reading, reading!!!
(JoAnn White 9:41am June 13, 2009)

We are not planning anything special for this summer. Maybe just a few short car trips to get away for a weekend. We do plan to go to Wisconsin to visit friends for a long weekend. I plan on catching up on some books in my TBR pile. I also plan on trying a few new salad recipes out on my family. Kraft has so many new ones.
(Judy Anderson 11:54am June 13, 2009)

Just planning day trips close to home and probably lots of time at the beach. I never leave home without something to read.
(Phyllis Crabtree 12:23pm June 13, 2009)

No plans other than seeing my family occasionally. Am an older lady.
(Rose Guardino 2:33pm June 13, 2009)

(Betty Cox 12:29pm June 14, 2009)

This summer will be spent like the rest of this year so far, job hunting..I will probably take the kids on small hikes and trips to the lake this summer. They are free and fun.
(Breia Brickey 12:36pm June 14, 2009)

We want to go to the beach - the Cape or Maine - this summer before my daughter heads off to college. As for reading, I'm currently reading Fire Me and have a whole host of others to read - too many to list here!
