Nancy Bush | Best Experiences An Author Can Have...

twitterfacebook
Well, I'm kind of excited. My newest book, UNSEEN, a thriller, debuted on March 31st. UNSEEN is my first solo effort as a romantic-suspense writer and it's definitely a wild and twisted tale. A real departure from the mystery novels I've been writing. (And to those loyal fans who've contacted me in fear that I've abandoned Jane, Dwayne, The Binkster and the rest of the gang from the Jane Kelly mystery series: They'll be back, I swear! ) Nancy Bush and Lisa JacksonSo, how did UNSEEN come to be? Well, a long time ago, in a galaxy far,far away, I read an article in Time Magazine about how young mothers were making money writing romance novels. I told my sister, fellow writer Lisa Jackson, about the article and, as young mothers ourselves, we both sat down and started writing, writing, writing. It's how both of our careers began. Now, I'm a grandmother. A grandmother! Yikes, rewind. That happened fast! I may need to digress a moment. . . . Nancy and granddaughter Sydney Everyone told me I would love being a grandmother. As the mother of an only daughter, I really wondered.. They might be right. Maybe. I mean, I had one child and she's always been everything to me. Never had any other kids, so.. . . .really? Sydney came along in August 2007. First she was a little blob, like all newborns. At two months she responded to the music and flashing colors on Dancing With The Stars. (I know this because I have many photos from that period, and I've got a wine glass in my hand in every one. Hmmm.....) Then Sydney's personality started emerging and now, well, she's everything I was promised in a granddaughter and more. She lives in southern California and I'm in the Northwest, so I've been burning up the friendly skies to go see her, my daughter and my son-in-law. Luckily, I have a job that travels with me, so I ensconce myself in the guest bedroom and type away on my laptop. Which brings me back to UNSEEN because most of its story was written in that guest bedroom. Creating UNSEEN was one of the best writing experiences I've had in a while. And there was time for fun, too. (Check out the picture of me and El Syd on the boat.)

Now my daughter is pregnant with baby girl #2. Also due in August. In fact her
projected due date is my mother's birthday -- my mother who passed away this
last January. Wouldn't that be fabulous? My newest granddaughter born on her
great-grandmother's birthday? I am a fiction writer but even I wouldn't put
that in a book. Too contrived.
But it could happen.....it really could.

And I've got another thriller to write, so I'm thinking about taking over the guest bedroom again this fall. . . .with more wine and Dancing With The Stars. Hope you enjoy UNSEEN! Nancy Bush

Our daughter was born on my mother's birthday - and they celebrated together for 27 years!

My grandson was just born on March 13. Although he doesn't share anyone else's birthday in the family, his special day is definitely unique as this year, it fell on a Friday! Must mean lots of luck for the little guy.

I have been reading yours and Lisa's books since your first Silhouette. Loved you then, and love you now. There has definitely been a change in voices for both of you!

Your granddaughter is beautiful. You're lucky that you can be with her so much.

We all have our own birthdays, but our
first daughter was born the day
between my mother's and her mother's
birthday - Nov. 7,8,9. Our son was
born the end of Nov. as were my
fraternal grandmother and my
husband's mother- 25,28,30. Was
going to say November was a busy
month, but in reality February was.
Which is odd, because our other
daughter was born Feb. 15 (know
when that happened - her dad came
home from 3 months overseas).
Only have one grandson. He is
great, but I want granddaughters to do
things with.
Good luck with your "solo" career. It
has gotten off to a good start.
