Linda Bradley | Meet the Author

Writes: The Montana Bound Series, with my second book in the series, MAGGIE’S FORK IN THE ROAD being released July 6, 2016.

About: Fifty-something author writes Contemporary Women’s Fiction with threads of romance. I love a strong heroine with grit and determination when it comes to kissing life in the face, as writing pal Roni Hall would say. Peeling away layers of everyday routine to expose dreams causing the heart to teeter toward an unplanned journey is a vital part of character development. My writing integrates humor, as well as touching moments, thus creating avenues for readers to connect.

Some favorite reads: Jane Porter, Claire Cook, Sue Monk Kidd, Sarah Addison Allen, Tracey Chevalier, Nicholas Sparks, Nancy Horan, Lori Nelson Spielman, Luanne Rice

Future Projects: MAGGIE’S MONTANA, Montana Bound Series: Book 3 will be released October 2016. I’m also working another Montana Series and a Women’s Fiction manuscript with a touch of Spirit.

Exciting writer moments:

  • Receiving cover quotes from best-selling authors and inspirations, Jane Porter and Lori Nelson Spielman.
  • Holding the first copy of my debut novel, Maggie’s Way. That was pretty special!
  • Receiving word that Maggie’s Way was a finalist in The Romance Reviews Readers’ Choice Award for Summer 2016 and a finalist in the 2016 Greater Detroit Booksellers’ Best Contest.

My ideal reader match:

  • A reader who loves to talk about the books they’ve read. I’m always looking for new authors to read.
  • A reader who finds humor in life’s oddities and maybe a little irony in the dark moments.
  • A reader who can snicker at sarcasm.
  • Someone who finds quirkiness endearing.
  • Someone who understands the reasons why people connect with characters. 1) The reader has experienced similar situations. 2) Someone with similar traits holds a special place in the reader’s heart. 3) The reader internalizes character traits with empathy. 4) Because who doesn’t enjoy meeting new and interesting people.
  • Likes a moving plot.
  • A reader with an open heart.
  • Believes that the well of hope is endless.
  • Prefers life’s daily drama with a cocktail in hand or a box of chocolate.

Some favorite quotes:

  • This world is but a canvas to our imagination.
Henry David Thoreau
  • The world breaks everyone, and afterward, some are strong at the broken places.
Ernest Hemingway
  • Write with the door closed, rewrite with the door open.
Stephen King
  • Put blinders on to those things that conspire to hold you back, especially the ones in your own head.
Meryl Streep

A favorite summer recipe:

Blueberry Buckle from allrecipes.com

A summer favorite at my house!

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • TOPPING:
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1?2 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup cold butter

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. (I use rice milk as we don’t drink dairy.) Fold in blueberries. Pour into greased 9-in. square baking pan. (I use a round decorative baking dish and cut it like pie. It’s pretty!)
  2. For topping, combine sugar, flour and cinnamon in a bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkler over blueberry mix. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

MAGGIE'S FORK IN THE ROAD by Linda Bradley

Montana Bound #2

Maggie's
Fork in the Road

Maggie Abernathy learns that pesky neighbors John and Chloe McIntyre are moving to Montana. The only problem is…she can’t fathom living without them now that they’ve stolen her heart. While trying to digest the news and accept John’s decision to leave Michigan, Maggie ventures to Chicago with Chloe to see Chloe’s Hollywood mother in a photo shoot, where the three kindle a quirky bond making it even harder for Maggie to say goodbye. With the support of Maggie’s meddling mother, her best friend Judy, and a surprise visit from Montana rancher Winston Ludlow McIntyre, Maggie begins to wonder which fork in the road leads home.
