The first two books in my contribution to the Serve series, MISTAKEN BY
FATE and BETTING ON FATE, deal with twin brothers, Garrett and Will
Reaver. They kind of look like Norse gods and are opposites in a lot of
different ways, but LORDY they were both hot as hell to write.
This scene
happens between the books, and it was something I felt was really needed,
because Ridley and Will never really addressed the fact that she was trying to
seduce him the night she accidentally seduced his twin. Enjoy!

She held the phone to her ear for a full minute after her hung up,
clinging to that last connection. Ridley was so busy wishing Garrett home, her
buzzer went off twice before she realized what it was. “That was quick.” She
climbed to her feet and buzzed whoever it was in.
When she opened the door, though, she didn’t expect it to be
Will. She stood there, mouth hanging open. “Uh…”
He lifted the pot he held. “As I’m sure you’re aware, my
brother can be extremely persuasive.”
Oh, yeah, she was aware. What she didn’t get was why he’d sent
Will here. Most of the awkwardness caused by her initial plan to seduce Will had
passed in the last few months, but that didn’t mean they were anywhere near as
close as they’d been.
Maybe now was the time to rectify that.
She stepped back and held the door while he walked into the
apartment. “How are you?”
“Good. Though I’m having work difficulties.” He walked straight
to her stove and set the pot down. She watched him turn on the burner and then
grab a wooden spoon from the stand on the counter and stir it. As soon as he
took the lid off, the most delicious smell permeated the room.
She realized she was still standing there like an idiot with
the door open and hurried to shut it. This wasn’t weird. It wasn’t. This was her
having dinner with her future brother-in-law.
The same future brother-in-law who’d she’d set out to seduce.
Her face flamed, and she prayed he’d be too polite to comment
on it. Garrett
wouldn’t have been, but Will was cut from a different cloth—at least on the
surface. True to form, he glanced at her face and then went back to stirring.
Okay, she could do this. She cleared her throat and started searching her
cupboards for the wine she knew was in there somewhere. Tonight definitely
called for wine.

About BETTING ON FATE
The
man she should want, or the man she craves…
This time, all bets are off...
Penelope Carson loves to steal clients from Will Reaver. Yet
something in her business nemesis's icy blue eyes makes Penelope...nervous. It
certainly doesn't help that the man is the living embodiment of a Norse god. A
controlled, powerful Norse god. Which she really should have remembered before
she made a bet with him—because losing means becoming Will's personal submissive
for a week.
There's nothing Will would like more than to have Penelope kneeling
before him
in complicit submission, her fiery dark eyes inviting him in. Challenging him.
But their bet takes Will and Penelope deeper than either of them have ever been.
Where control is an illusion, and boundaries are pushed aside. And where hearts
become the stakes in a game that neither Dominant nor submissive can win…
