You know how it is. You start dating this guy, and heβs nice. Well, nice enough.
And maybe youβre a people pleaser sort, who contorts herself to fit. And it
turns out that youβre pretty good at fitting with this guy and his liberal
philosophy on relationships, so much so that you decide that itβs your
philosophy tooβand all that plus a little momentum and thatβs how you find
yourself engaged to marry the guy with the dedication to the open relationship
youβve agreed to be in though youβve never actually taken advantage of it yourselfβ¦

Michaela Townsend is in this exact situation in my new novella for Tule
Publishing Groupβs
Montana Born Books Bachelor Auction series. So deep
in it, in fact, that she doesn't even see the problem until she comes face to
face with the bachelor her family buys for her at the small town Marietta,
Montana Bachelor Auctionβthe very surly, very scowly, very smoking hot Jesse Grey.
It will take a road trip back to Seattle and a blizzard (in Montana they just
call it βweatherβ) to show Michaela the error of her ways.
Oh, and Jesse. Because after the betrayals heβs suffered, he has his own
philosophies about relationships. Here are the Top Three:
A Man is Chivalrous
βBe nice,β he growled. βOr Iβll make you carry your own bag.β
She couldnβt breathe. Or process that.
βI always carry my own bag,β she informed him, on auto-pilot. βIβm a liberated
woman, thank you. My partner isnβt a bell hop. What does that even mean?β
He muttered something that sounded filthy, which Michaela told herself was
further evidence that he was terrible in every way, but that wasnβt what that
swirling, heated thing inside her felt about any of this. Definitely not.
βIt means your man is a douche,β he growled at her.
A Man Questions Liberal Philosophies on Relationships
He stood then, and stretched, and that was a whole symphony of unfair. That
long, lean body. The wedge of his lower abdomen that showed when he raised his
arms, packed tight with muscle and dusted with dark hair on its way beneath the
low waistband of his jeans. That amused expression on his face when he caught
her looking. βLet me guess. You have an open relationship that you both agreed
to because thatβs the kind of liberal people you are, but it turns out only he
ever takes advantage of it.β
βThereβs nothing stopping either one of us from βtaking advantage of it,β though
thatβs an unnecessarily dim view of things. Thatβs the point.β
βSo thatβs a yes?β
A Man Makes A Commitment
βI donβt need an archaic display of ownership to make other people feel
comfortable about my private, personal commitments,β she gritted out. βAlso, Iβm
not a cow.β
βThat doesnβt sound like adulthood,β Jesse told her, though what she saw was
that perfect abdomen of his, that magnificent chest, burned deep into her brain.
Maybe forever more, like the kind of brand sheβd always been so sure she didnβt
want. And he wasnβt laughing anymore. βThat sounds like BS. A whole lot of
rationalization to explain away not wanting to actually settle down and make a
real promise with real consequences if itβs broken. If you choose to spend the
rest of your life with one person, thatβs the whole point. That person. Only
them. Forever. Or you might as well not bother.β
Our latest bachelor has enough family in Marietta to qualify as an honorary
native, but hails instead from Seattle, WA, which is where heβll fly you for a
glamorous weekend on the shores of the sparkling Puget Sound. Jesse Grey will
treat you the way a local boy turned construction tycoon should: five star
accommodations, gourmet dinners, and celebrated Washington wines. We just canβt
promise heβll smile much. Or at all.
Sold to the highest bidder!
Jesse Grey, notorious bachelor and one of Seattleβs foremost construction
tycoons, has been roped into participating in the Marietta Bachelor Auction
thanks to an expertly executed guilt trip laid out by his family.
Michaela Townsend already has a fiancΓ© and certainly doesnβt need another man in
her life. So when her family buys her surly, sexy Jesse at the auction and
wrangles him into driving her from Montana to Seattle, sheβs appalled yet
disturbingly attracted.
As far as Jesse is concerned, Michaela is forbidden fruit. Even though he knows
her fiancΓ© isnβt all he seems, Jesse would never take what didnβt belong to him.
But how long can he resist the one woman he shouldnβt touch?
