Hi, my name is Kelly Hunter
and this is my first time at Fresh Fiction. Thank
you so much for having me. A brief bio would include the facts that I’m an
Aussie, a mother of boys, and a former scientist who used to grow screw-worm
flies and their flesh-eating larvae for a living. Six million of them, every
week. Let’s not mention the smell. Are you still with me? I became an author
instead, if that helps…
My latest release is book four in Tule Publishing Group’s Montana Born Bachelor
series. One small town called Marietta. Six bachelors in various stages of
denial at being auctioned off like prize bulls, even if for a very good cause.
My guy is ski champ Jett Casey. Jett has an ego the size of an elephant and
doesn’t mind being auctioned off at all. He ends up donating his handyman
services to single mom Mardie Griffin for a week.
And then sets about fixing everything in sight.
Top Five Reasons To Enjoy Jett Casey
#1. He’s easy on the eye
“I’m having handyman fantasies. Or maybe they’re Jett Casey
fantasies,” said Mardie. “Either way, I’m having them.”
“Very healthy.”
“He was ripping up the carpet in the front room and all those muscles were
straining…and there was bending… and rolling, and wanton sighing on my part.
Have you seen that man’s butt?”
“I’ve seen it. And you are right to be impressed.”
#2. He steps in when needed
He remembered trying to get her to stay awake and talk to him, staying awake
being the most important bit, and to this day he still remembered his silent
curses when she began to slip into the grey of not-quite-there.
He remembered moving in and letting her lean on him when she’d threatened to
topple over, and she’d been a lightweight beneath her thick winter clothing.
Barely present, in body or in spirit, and he remembered telling her all sorts of
random information about his own life. How he had four brothers, all older, and
how as a kid he’d used to take off into the mountains, on whatever skis were
handy, in order to escape all those brothers who were better, stronger, faster,
and smarter than him. At everything.
#3. He knows what he wants
“This doesn’t have to be a one-night stand, or a two-night stand, or whatever it
is that you’re thinking this is. There’s more if you want it.”
#4. He’s good with his hands
Oh, he is. Trust me on this.
#5. He’s a fine role model
Jett smothered a grin by taking a huge mouthful of éclair. He regretted it
instantly, given that Miss Mimic over there in the high chair had immediately
decided that she too would stuff her mouth with more éclair than she could manage.
He chewed.
She chewed.
He kept his mouth closed, just.
Mardie’s little girl…tried.
Resolutely, Jett averted his gaze so that he didn’t choke on his stupid smile
and spoil everything. He swallowed hard. He tried not to notice a small copycat
cherub.
About WHAT A BACHELOR NEEDS
Your date with ski champ Jett Casey is an either/or deal. He’ll take you
off-piste for the ultimate Montana ski adventure or he’ll put his handyman
skills at your disposal for a week.
Single mom Mardie Griffin has a run-down old house in need of fixing and a
memory of Jett Casey as her savior in a time of great need. So when her friends
acquire Jett’s services at a bachelor auction and send him to fix up her house,
she sets aside her mistrust of men and lets him in.
Elite athlete Jett Casey has the world at his feet and no desire for stability.
But there’s one woman he’s never forgotten and if he can help make her safe this
time, maybe she’ll stop haunting him.
No strings, no sex, no commitment. Just fix things. Surely it can’t be that
difficult…

Thank you for the lovely comments, Denise, Stephanie and Kathleen. I started out with a hot handyman fantasy - I'm a big fan of those - and then decided that single mom Mardie deserved a whole lot more.
