Shannyn Schroeder & Rhonda Helms | Swoon-Off: Daniel vs. Phin

pinterestamazongoodreadstwitterfacebookblog

Rhonda Helms and I have challenged each other to a swoon off, pitting the heroes
of our September release New Adult books against each other. There will be three
events (Who is sexier?, Who has the best pick up/first conversation with the
heroine?, and Who does the best grovel?). We will write about our heroes and
post snippets from our books. Then there will be voting!

Stop by the three blogs to vote and post a comment to participate in our giveaway. Leave a comment below with your vote to be entered to win a $20 iBooks gift card!

Who has the best pickup line/ first conversation?

PHIN (From HER BEST SHOT) When Layla, my heroine, first meets Phin, itโ€™s in a bar while he is playing pool. She watched him play a few games and take money from his opponents. Sheโ€™s intrigued by him, and yes, attracted to him, but sheโ€™s caught a little off guard when he approaches her because she thought no one noticed her come into the bar.
He pointed his pool cue at her. โ€œAre you going to sit there staring all night, or are you going to play?โ€ โ€œMe? Iโ€™m not stupid enough to play pool with a hustler. My dayโ€™s been crappy enough. I donโ€™t need to lose anything else.โ€ He stalked closer to her. โ€œIโ€™m not a hustler. Hustlers pretend to be bad and then show their true ability to win big. Make no mistake. Iโ€™m always good.โ€ โ€œThanks for the vocabulary lesson. I still have better things to do with twenty bucks than lose it to you, especially since Iโ€™ve only played pool a handful of times.โ€ He took another step closer. Close enough that she could touch him if she wanted, but he kept enough distance so she wasnโ€™t crowded. โ€œHow about you buy me a beer, and Iโ€™ll give you a lesson?โ€

Fair enough. I wouldnโ€™t mind a lesson from him.

DANIEL (From SCRATCH) Niceโ€”gotta love sexy lessons. ;-) And now, letโ€™s move on to Daniel. Casey is hanging out one on one with Daniel. Heโ€™s attractive, easygoing, and she finds herself wanting to get to know him more, even if sheโ€™s a little afraid to drop her guard.
He reached out and, with a slow, steady movement, stroked the top of my hand with one lean finger. The gesture was soft and sent a burst of tingles across my flesh. He moved to stroke the line between my index and middle finger. Then he flipped my hand over and ran his fingers across my palm in featherlight touches. โ€œYou are a mystery,โ€ he said to me, a crooked grin on his face. โ€œAn enigma,โ€ I offered. โ€œA cornucopia of mazelike tendencies.โ€ I burst out a sharp laugh. โ€œReally?โ€ He chuckled. โ€œOkay, I ran out of good analogies.โ€
I donโ€™t know about you, but I find a witty guy soooo sexy. Thanks for dropping by, and let us know who you thought had the best pickup line or first conversationโ€”Phin, or Daniel? Comment below with your vote to be entered to win a $20 iBooks gift card!

About HER BEST SHOT by Shannyn Schroeder

With college graduation looming, three childhood friends vow to make spring break their last blast of pure fun. But at least one of them didnโ€™t count on such incredible heatโ€ฆ

Layla Sharpe is definitely more math ninja than bikini babe, and her future has
been calculated with razor precision. Convinced to let loose over spring break,
Layla is finally ready to partyโ€”until her car breaks down halfway to her
destination, leaving her stranded in Georgia with a mouthwateringly hot pool
shark. She knows more than enough about angles to learn the game, but this week
she wants him to appreciate her curvesโ€ฆ

Phin Marks has never met a girl like Layla. Sheโ€™s more Star Wars geek than seductress, and when he offers her a place to stay while her car is in the shop, heโ€™s counting on the attraction between them to set the nights ablaze, no strings attached. But every moment he spends with Layla makes it harder to let her go. Can he persuade her to gamble in the most dangerous way possibleโ€ฆon forever?

About SCRATCH by Rhonda Helms

The most painful scars are the ones you never see.

In her DJ booth at a Cleveland dance club, Casey feels a sense of connection
that's the closest she ever gets to normal. On her college campus, she's
reserved, practical--all too aware of the disaster that can result when you
trust the wrong person. But inexplicably, Daniel refuses to pay attention to the
walls she's put up. Like Casey, he's a senior. In every other way, he's her
opposite.

Sexy, open, effortlessly charming, Daniel is willing to take chances and show
his feelings. For some reason Casey can't fathom, he's intent on drawing her out
of her bubble and back into a world that's messy and unpredictable. He doesn't
know about the deep scars that pucker her stomach--or the deeper secret behind
them. Since the violent night when everything changed, Casey has never let
anyone get close enough to hurt her again. Now, she might be tempted to try.
