Lisa Kessler | Are you a Binge Reader?
July 31, 2014
Since Netflix started offering complete seasons of television series available
for streaming, I started hearing the team “binge watched”. Even before Netflix,
I was buying DVDs of my favorite shows and then devoting a weekend to watching
episode after episode, no commercials, no waiting a week for the next
installment. Bliss! (I can actually admit to watching all the seasons of ANGEL
on DVD in one weekend more than once! LOL) But TV seasons aren’t the only binges out there. Before I was a writer, I spent
every spare moment being an avid reader and series were always my favorite!
However, waiting for the next book in a series I loved was NOT! :) Now that my Night Series is complete, I’ve started hearing from “binge
readers”. They typically wait until a series is complete, then load up their
eReader with all the books and dive in for a week of total fictional escape!
Sounds fun, right? Are you a Binge Reader? Have you ever tried it? My Night Series is now complete! It centers around a secretive race of
immortal blood drinkers called, Night Walkers. They’re actually descended from
the mysterious Mayan civilization and have been living among us for centuries,
upholding the mortal world. But when a centuries-old plan starts in motion, suddenly none of us are safe. If you love tortured heroes, action, suspense, and paranormal twists, this might
be the perfect series for you to try a little “Binge Reading”. You can learn
more on my website. So are you a Binge Reader? Leave me a comment about any series you’ve binge
read, or if you’re just thinking about a binge read… Two commentors will win
eBook copies of NIGHT WALKER to get you started on the Night Series! :)
He gave up his soul for a second chance to love her… Two and a half centuries ago, Calisto Terana lost everything when a zealous
priest murdered the woman he loved. Now, desperate for another chance to love
her, he wants redemption for the mistake that cost her life. She's haunted by dreams of her own death… After catching her fiance with another woman, Kate Bradley returns to San Diego
to clear her head. The last thing she needs is romance, but after meeting
Calisto she's drawn to him in ways she doesn't understand. They've waited in the shadows for centuries… Calisto has no doubt Kate is the reincarnation of his lost love, but the
Fraternidad Del Fuego Santo has a new watcher with dark ambitions of his own. As
old enemies reemerge and a new threat arises, the betrayal that enslaved Calisto
to the night might destroy the only woman he’s ever loved again.

Re: Lisa Kessler | Are you a Binge Reader?
Reading a whole series all at once is way better than waiting a year or 2 for each book to come out. I went out and bought all of Lori Fosters books at once after Dash of Peril came out. And I had a delicious of 2 weeks of binge reading and happy I waited this long to read them. (Christina Linton 4:47pm July 30, 2014)
My binge read is the Lora Leigh Breed series. The books at the beginning of the series are starting to wear out because of constantly re-reading them.

I have not read a series all at once. I have read three books in one week when I was real stressed at work. I am not sure if thst is binge reading or not. (Cynthia Cook 9:50pm July 30, 2014)
Yes at times I am that kind of reader. The last one was Christine Feehan's Sea Haven series. (Pat Freely 11:43pm July 30, 2014)
I like to mix up series and authors. I can't read a bunch in a series back to back; I like variety. When I was a teenager I did read Agatha Christie books back to back and she wrote about 70 or so mystery books. I read most of them over the years.
I don't do Netflix but when I really get into a series I may watch more than one episode On Demand or on DVD (I get them at my library so that's like my Netflix).
No need to enter me in the contest. I can't do e-books. (Michelle Fidler 3:54pm July 31, 2014)
Wow! Great to see so many Binge Readers out there! :)
Pat, I discovered Christine Feehan's Dark Series when Dark Fire came out and I got so excited when I saw I could go back and read from the beginning back to back... Fun times!

I have binge read several series when the newest book comes out, or just reading books I love again. (Sarah Murphy 4:39pm July 31, 2014)
I binge read a lot of series! And books I love!:) (Marie Andersson 4:53pm July 31, 2014)
Binge reading? Guilty Every time a Lynsay Sands Argeneau or Pamela Palmer Feral / Vamp City books come out I start from the beginning to be caught up just before the next release.
And let us not forget Lisa's Moon series. yummy (Cindy Thomason 5:28pm July 31, 2014)
I'm more of an avid reader, but do like to read series books. Although they may not be in any real order. (Alyson Widen 5:36pm July 31, 2014)

I don't own an e-reader, so the thought never crossed my mind. As far as books go, my reading, as far as my moods go all over the place, so I like to switch genres. When I finish one book, I'll completely switch to a different genre, going from a Romance, for example, to something either a little lighthearted or a Mystery, depending upon my mood. If I did own an e-reader, and really liked the Author a lot, I would probably download all of their books, so that I could read their books when I'm in the mood for them. (Peggy Roberson 11:08am August 1, 2014)
I guess you would classify me as a binge reader. I prefer to read an interesting series in order without having to wait for months or a year for the next one. What really happens is I will buy a book and then realize it's part of a series, and then have to search for the others or wait for the next one. (Anna Speed 4:10pm August 1, 2014)
goody contest (Kent Cook 4:48pm August 1, 2014)
I certainly am when I find a series that I love. I gobble the books up! When a series becomes one of my true favorites, I will go back and re-read the series in preparation for the next book to be released. I genre-hop in deference to my mood, but I have my "go to" books/authors in every genre. (Sarah Eisele 4:59pm August 1, 2014)
I've never binge read as such, but if I've read a book from a series I've enjoyed I will buy the rest to complete the series and indulged my self. (Julie Duffy 10:12pm August 1, 2014)
I often binge read if I discover (or finally get to) a series that's been out long enough to have at least several books. The most recent one I binge read was Ward's BDM series. (Janie McGaugh 10:57pm August 1, 2014)
I binge-read Laurrell K Hamilton's Anita Blake series..... I actually prefer to do it that way, if it's going to be more than a trilogy. I HATE waiting for the next book to release! (Karen Arrowood 11:39pm August 1, 2014)
I'm a binge reader. I could go days without reading and all of a sudden, I'm in a reading craze. (Kai Wong 11:59pm August 1, 2014)
My Binge Reading was the Szckett Series by Louie Lamore (John Zeiger 3:38pm August 2, 2014)
I'm a binge reader. I just have to figure out if I'm going paper, Nook or Kindle. (LaGina Reese 3:55am August 6, 2014)
