Sandi Shilhanek | The Perfect Day...does It Exist? I Say Maybe

On Saturday I had a nearly perfect day. I say nearly because is any day truly perfect? I woke to temps that were climbing, even though my friend Yvonne took great pleasure in informing me that my home in Texas was several degrees cooler than her home in England.

SUMMERI went to coffee and donuts with my friends, and came home to find my oldest son awake and coherent. Woke the younger one to head out the door and did a few things like loading the dishwasher and laundry. Finally it was time for some “mom” time. I hid out in my room and finished reading One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake. Then it was errand time.

I headed out with the idea I would treat myself to an early lunch, via a stop at the pet store for dog food. Got the lunch, and headed to the bookstore for the first signing of the day,Michele Bardsley signing Come Hell or High Water. I got there early and was treated to some one on one time with Michele. Unfortunately she had a great Q and A going, and I more plans so had to leave early.

Barely
Bewitched Drove to meet the DFW Tea group for tea and a chat with author Kimberly Frost. Great food, wonderful tea, and the opportunity to meet an author I hadn’t yet read.

Came home to the family having read my mind and wanting pizza for dinner. YUM!!!! I love ordering pizza to be delivered, and it’s a treat we didn’t do for a long time, and have recently rediscovered.

So now you have a good idea what I consider a “perfect” day. What makes a perfect day for you?

Until next week happy page turning!

Re: Sandi Shilhanek | The Perfect Day...does It Exist? I Say Maybe

For me, a perfect day is one
in which I get to read a
little, write a little, work
on some knitting, and get to
the end of the day without
feeling drained due to the
M.S. Any time I can pretend I
don't have M.S. because I'm
not tired, in pain, or feeling
other symptoms, is a good day
to me.

Humm you describe that day that would be good, I'd have to say. A perfect day, I'd have to think about it. I'd probaby say a day when I get to read, hear my kids laugh, see my DH laugh and smile, talk with my mom, and then get to read more.ROFL.

I loved LOVED ONE RECKLESS SUMMER it was a great read and I can't wait for more. I wish we had more signings closer to me, I noticed my BN had a signing but it was an author of general fiction and I didn't/don't read the author so I didn't go.

I'm glad you had such a great day! I hope you enjoy many many more.
hugs,
WendyK

Sandi, friends, family, food and meeting authors & reading would all be involved in a perfect day for me too! Maybe add a little travel to someplace new. Basically I like my tried&true comforts like reading but also like new discoveries -- a new-to-me author or restaurant or place. So learning something new & being stimulated along w/ the comfort of relaxing w/ friends, family, good book would be very satisfying! I am happy you had a nearly-perfect day. A financial windfall may be too much to ask...but one can dream LOL

I also had a "near" perfect day yesterday. It was cold and snowy outside so I was in my warm pjs and favorite blanket curled up on the couch reading a great book and watched a cute romantic comedy and followed that with some comfort food, grilled cheese sandwich. Now today I pay, time for laundry and grocery shopping.

My perfect day is when everything falls into place effortlessly along with some sunshine to warm and brighten. Writing for a spell and then to top it off, reading in bed one of many books I've got going.

For me a perfect day is one when I have time to kick back and relax with a book, pets or friends rather than feeling pressured to do something.

What is a perfect day for me? It could be many things like: getting many things I need to do done; seeing or talking to all my grandchildren; sailing down the Rhone River on a river cruise; or having a lot of energy. Any perfect day needs sunshine though to make it perfect!

Just a peaceful day, no drama and
a good book.
(Lisa Richards 4:05pm January 10, 2010)

When the kids go to school, hubby goes to work, and I get to read my book. Ah, peaceful.
(Armenia Fox 4:48pm January 10, 2010)

My perfect day: no hassles, no dramas, a little indulgence & sanity prevails.
(Mary Preston 5:50pm January 10, 2010)

My day yesterday was also near perfect! Mostly I read, watched enough of the play off games to see who won, spent some time on the computer. It was a quiet pleasant day. A "perfect" day would include phone visits with both my daughters and any good friend that happens to call or maybe a trip to the ocean to just enjoy being there.
I'm glad you enjoyed your day.

Having a day to myself without cleaning cooking or driving someone somewhere; only to sit , drink my tea and read a good book.
(Diane Sadler 6:36pm January 10, 2010)

A really nice day is one on which I read a fascinating book without realizing the passage of time and therefore, feeling no guilt at wasting time--not even eating. At least part of this day has been like this. I hope the rest of it will be, too. Ciao!
(Sigrun Schulz 8:21pm January 10, 2010)

I have to agree with the other posts. I would include all their requirements:)

If I could have incorporated part of Sat into my Friday, I could have called it perfect. Spent some time shopping (but no bookstore - that was Sat)including a good lunch, enjoyed dinner with my family at mom's (anytime I don't have to cook is perfect - lo), the girls were mostly good, and had some downtime which included reading. if I could have included the Flyers game from Thur or Sat night, it would have been perfect. But split into two days is pretty ok too!

For me every day is a good day. Looks like yours was spectacular.

My idea of the perfect day is a day of me being able to do whatever it is I want,,,,,,,like reading and have absolutely NO interruptions what-so-ever.
(Debbie Beverley 1:22am January 11, 2010)

I would say that the perfect day for me is one where no crisis arose and where I could sit and read a book... I love One Recless Summer and can't wait for the second book in this series..
Great post Sandi
(Kathleen O'Donnell 11:37am January 11, 2010)

LOL! We should all get together. It sounds like our perfect days would almost be exactly the same. . .

I'd include in my perfect day -- besides the reading, etc -- a day when whatever woodworking project I'm making would go together the first time without having to be refitted a dozen times. {:-) And did I say reading? Yes, lots of reading. A good cup of hot chocolate, my favorite chair. . .
(Donna Breitkreuz 3:06pm January 11, 2010)

Sandi, there's still something wrong with this silly page. It jumps up and down at will, and makes me crazy trying to read, or even type anything.
(Donna Breitkreuz 3:07pm January 11, 2010)

Sandi, that sure was a perfect day.If I could get everything done on a planned day that would be perfect for me. A day without stress where I could split my time perfectly between reading, computer and errands. This will sound funny to you but to me it's awesome-to have my van door open on command for me is a miracle so it doesn't mess up the rest of my day.
(Nancy Alexander 3:13pm January 11, 2010)

I am a homebody...a perfect day for me would have a good book to read, the telephone does not ring, and I have a box of chocolates nearby to munch on while I devour the author's story.
