I’m so thrilled to be blogging here with you today! For about a month now I’ve
been counting the days until my new book IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT comes
out. And
guess what? It’s finally here!
Before I write anything more, here’s what the book’s about. I’ll include the
book trailer for you, because I think it’s more fun that way. Let me know what
you think of it!
So as I said earlier, I’ve been very eager for this book to arrive. VERY eager.
What’s so intense about being a writer is that while you’re working on a book,
life can feel very quiet. Introspective. I thrive on all that silence. I’ve got
to dig deep to get into my characters’ hearts and minds.
But then, when a book comes out, hold on to your hats, folks! Life speeds up,
the days fly by, and I find myself loving life and thinking that if I live to be
150 years old I STILL won’t have lived long enough to enjoy (and write about)
everything that’s amazing in this world.
IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT
has been a work in progress for over a year now-it’s a big, meaty story of
family ties, friendship, and romance that took quite a while to get right.
Thankfully, the wait seems to have been worth it! Romantic Times just
gave it 4.5 stars and said it "knocks the wind out of you." The reviewer said
everything was "perfect" (seriously, they actually said "perfect!") and
the only bad part about the book was that it ended. Since it’s only my second
book, I’ve been over the moon! I guess good things come to those who wait.
So tell me-what’s been worth the wait for you in your life? Your husband?
Children? A job? A newly discovered talent? Or maybe something smaller-like a
special, aged wine?
And in the meantime, if you want to find out more about the book-and join any of
the contests I’ve been running to promote my hot-off-the-press release-just

Writing is a solitary expedition. Getting the story out fresh as it happens in the writer's head takes discipline and needs space for resounding ideas. (Alyson Widen 9:44am November 23, 2009)
How long does it normally take you to write a book? (Molly Wilsbacher 10:00am November 23, 2009)
My husband was definitely worth the wait. It's not just the passion, it's the freindship we share and the secrets, the laughs and just the closeness we found together. (Theresa Buckholtz 2:25pm November 23, 2009)
My husband is my best friend! Eleven years together, and we met online! (Brenda Rupp 3:25pm November 23, 2009)
meeting my husband and having four wonderful Children have been worth the wait. (Annetta Stolpmann 4:11pm November 23, 2009)
The trailer is great! Loved it! What was worth the wait for me was the agonizing week I had to spend in complete anxiety over medical tests I had done. I had imagined every worst case scenario. In the end the long wait ended up being worth it. Tests were negative and all is well with me! Thanks for the great post! (Erin Thompson 6:52pm November 23, 2009)
@Alyson, You're so right. That's the perfect way to say it.
@Molly, Generally, I'd say a year or a year and a half.
@Theresa, That's beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
@Brenda, Aw!!! Adorable!!!
@Annetta, four children! Congrats. You must have a lot of patience. :-)
@Erin, Thank you! And thank goodness! Glad to hear you're okay! (Lisa Dale 8:15pm November 23, 2009)
That is such a deep question. I have had many joys that make me say that was worth the wait such as my husband, my children, and re-entering the job market. I hope that I will have many more to add to that list before my life is over. (Rosemary Krejsa 8:29pm November 23, 2009)
Lisa: Thank you for your post. Attractive trailer, and the FF description of your book sounds great. I'm a sucker for nice-guy heroes---and they're hard to find!
What's been worth the wait in my life? Dunno. I'm still waiting!
Finding myself has been worth the wait. I have discovered a great deal about myself along the way & I feel I am now stronger, wiser & fearless. (Mary Preston 6:15am November 27, 2009)
