People often ask what my writing day is like.ย Since Iโm a workaholic, most of
my writing days are long and mentally tiring.ย I thought it might be fun to tell
you what my
perfect day would be.ย
Aside from a trip to Paris, Rome, or some other exotic location, I had a perfect
day last week.ย I did some book promo for the first book in my Texas Trilogy,
BEYOND REASON, which is out
May 30th, then went to work on the book that comes out in February next year,
BEYOND DANGER.ย
It was one of those days where everything came together.ย Since great writing
days donโt happen that often, authors value them highly.ย Because it was the
first truly glorious day in Montana after a long winter, I decided to quit a
little early.ย I was drained after writing an intensely romantic love scene, but
happy with what Iโd produced.ย
As a treat, my husband and I decided to go on a camera safari.ย Loading snacks
into the pickup, we headed into the Montana mountains.ย In one afternoon we saw
a herd of elk, two dozen deer, a group of sand hill cranes, an osprey, and a
variety of ducks and Canadian geese.ย
Set among scenic, snow-covered mountain vistas stretching as far as you could
see, it was a nature loverโs dream.ย
Supper on the way home was a stop at Trixieโs Antler Saloon.ย Yup, thatโs
right.ย Trixieโs--the only food around for miles--is definitely rustic.ย But
thereโre great folks whoโll throw a steak on the grill and pour you an ice-cold
beer.ย
We headed home in the dark, tired, but smiling.ย The end of a perfect day.
In the morning I went back to promoting my new book,
BEYOND REASON, Lincoln Cain
and Carly Drakeโs story.ย In the story, a ruthless Texas drug lord wants Drake
Trucking, the company Carly inherited from her grandfather, Joe Drake.ย Big
