Christine Husom | Creating New Characters

What great joy it to have THE ICED PRINCESS, the second book in the Snow Globe Shop Mysteries, now available. And just in time for Christmas gifts. The Iced Princess continues with the same cast of characters from SNOW WAY OUT. And a few new ones, too. One of my favorite parts of writing fiction is creating new characters. Each one takes on a life of his or her own, and I love watching them flesh out and develop when they are dealing with the people and circumstances in their lives. Camryn Brooks is the protagonist in this series. She is currently managing her parentsโ€™ business, Curio Finds, a shop that specializes in snow globes from around the world. Itโ€™s not where she planned to be at this point in her lifeโ€”or everโ€”but itโ€™s where she landed after a scandal changed her career path.

Alice โ€œPinkyโ€ Nelson, one of Camiโ€™s best friends, runs a coffee shop, Brew
Ha-Ha, in the building adjoining Curio Finds. Their other childhood friends,
teacher Erin Vickerman and Brooks Landing Police Officer, Mark Weston are woven
in the storylines, as they are in their life events. As is the assistant chief
of police, Clinton Lonsbury who Cami finds both attractive and irritating.

In THE ICED PRINCESS, Pinky convinces Cami they need extra help at their shops for the holidays. Their two new hires, Emmy and Molly, report for work and butt heads from the start. And at the end of the stress-filled day only one of them gets to go home. The other has met an untimely death in Camiโ€™s shop. Cami feels compelled to find out what caused her death, trying her best to stay out of the way of the police. But as she takes a closer look at a number of potential suspects, she finds herself is some big trouble of her own.

About THE ICED PRINCESS

The Iced
Princess

The national bestselling author of SNOW WAY OUT returns with more sparkling snow globes and cold-blooded murder...

Itโ€™s that time of the year againโ€”the Christmas rush is about to begin, and curio shop owner Camryn Brooks and her BFF, coffee shop owner Alice โ€œPinkyโ€ Nelson, need to hire additional help. Their former high-school classmate, Molly Dalton, is not exactly who they had in mind. Has the rich socialite worked a day in her life? But Molly practically begs for the job.

On her first day, Molly seems to be in her own little world, and Cami worries that her new employee may flake out. The problem turns out to be far worse than that when Cami discovers Molly dead in the back of the shop, after drinking a poisoned cup of coffee. Soon there is an avalanche of suspects as Cami starts shoveling through the cluesโ€”including a shattered snow globe of Marilyn Monroe. Now Cami will have to venture out of her safety zone before the pathological poisoner stirs up more trouble...

Re: Christine Husom | Creating New Characters

When you stop and ask - who doesn't love snow globes,
this type of book is tailor-made for just about any
type of mystery reader - myself included!! I
apologize for not knowing about this series, but have
already put your book on my TBR list, and will be
looking for other books in your series as well!! This
sounds like the perfect read for me to hunker down
with on a snowy night, especially now that we had our
first measurable snowfall of the Winter season
yesterday. Congratulations on your latest book, which
I'm sure will do well, and I'll be sure to keep an eye
open for future books of yours. Have a terrific
2016!!

I picked up a folder at my library in North Branch that has
a list of Minnesota authors. One of my challenges this year
is to read from this list. I have added you to my TBR list
and look forward to reading your books.
