Declan, the hero from my new book A SEAL FOREVER, is (clearly) a Navy SEAL, and
being a Navy SEAL is at the core of his identity. His entire life is centered
around his job. So, he plays the field when he’s home, dating whomever he wants.
When he unexpectedly falls for his next door neighbor, life changes in a way he
never thought it would. There was something else as important as the Teams, and
it was…her. Never in a million years did he think he’d have to work for this
relationship, or that together both of them would turn their lives into
something so incredible and new. Falling in love takes guts, and being together
takes determination, especially when you’re A SEAL
FOREVER.
It takes many awesome skills to be a Navy SEAL. In my opinion, the best skill is
STAYING CALM. There’s a point in training when trainees/tadpoles are taken into
the ocean at night. It’s dark, cold, wet, and scary, and you have no idea what
will attack. Staying calm is the key. Letting go of fear and being present in
the moment will save your life. Being able to feel the rhythm of the ocean
allows your body to be in a state of no response/readiness. Then, when the ocean
telegraphs danger, you will be prepared and ready to face whatever comes your
way. That might mean moving to the side to avoid conflict or stepping in the
fray and throwing a punch with all your might. Staying calm is the key. This
precious life-saving skill translates to real life, too.
Additional Cool Skills:
Fast roping
Using guns
Evasive driving
Mental and physical stamina
Agility

Even a hero needs someone to believe in him...
Parkour instructor Maura Maxwell has always denied her attraction for her
bachelor neighbor because she’s seen his revolving door of women and doesn’t
want to become another notch on his belt. But the man who rescues her from a
sudden storm isn’t the one she thinks she knows—he’s Master Chief Declan Swifton
of SEAL Team Five, and he literally sweeps Maura off her feet.
Just as his teasing and tenderness start to work their way into Maura’s heart,
Declan and his team are called in for a dangerous op in the Middle East. The man
who returns is facing the toughest fight of his life, and he needs Maura by his
side more than ever…
