Hi everyone! Since this is Fresh Fiction, I wanted take a moment to talk to you about
Micah
Crane. I mean, a brooding hero is one of the greatest parts of a romance novel, right?
(I
can’t be the only one who thinks this!)
Micah Crane is my bar owner slash mob enforcer in my very first Brazen title, A MOMENT OF
WEAKNESS.
I had such a great time writing him. He was one of those characters who continuously
surprised me with the depth of both his pain and desires, and I enjoyed every minute of
it.
Micah can—and will—do just about anything for his six-year-old daughter. He’s fearless
in
his side job and when it comes to those he loves, he’s inexorably devoted and
protective.
Most days he’s in jeans and a T-shirt. Sometimes he’s shirtless or concealed in only a
bath
towel (though you’ll have to read the book for those details). No matter what’s covering
the array of tattoos on his chest, nothing can detract from the love he feels for his
baby
girl plastered all over his face (rough and tumble guy softened by the giggles of his
little girl? Cue the swooning!)
He can’t cook, but he does know how to play with his food. Just ask Laurel (the heroine
of
A MOMENT OF
WEAKNESS). Pink Pop Rocks might be her new favorite treat now. ;)
He doesn’t have many days off when his associate isn’t demanding jobs from him, but when
he
does, he likes to spend it with Laurel. Like, perhaps, teaching her how to properly hold
a
baseball bat? Or maybe that was because he’d wanted an excuse to run his hands over her
body (you’d have to ask him about that one!)
Micah’s not a perfect gentleman and struggles a lot with what is right and wrong, but if
there’s one thing he learns throughout this story it’s that being with Laurel makes him
want to be a better man. And that, right there, is his sexiest trait.
Brooklyn Skye grew up in a small town where she quickly realized writing was an escape
from
small town life. Really, she’s just your average awkward girl who’s obsessed with words.

He can fight anything...except his need for her.
Until her new job starts in September, buttoned-up elementary school teacher Laurel
Harris
is at loose ends and in need of cash. Fortunately her best friend's older brother is a
single dad and desperately needs a nanny. Or so she's told. She doesn't anticipate him
being such a menacing, muscled, and undeniably gorgeous man...or that he has zero
interest
in hiring a nanny.
Micah Crane will do right by his young daughter, no matter the cost. And right now, that
cost is juggling parenthood with long hours at his bar and working as an enforcer for a
notorious crime boss. He doesn't need another complication in his life, but the sweet,
frustratingly opinionated little blonde hell-bent on caring for his daughter stirs his
blood like no woman ever has.
All it takes is a moment of weakness to ignite the lust blazing between them. A moment
that
will unravel their self-control and unleash all of Micah's darkest secrets...

O.K. So how does he get out of his less than honorable profession-working for a crime boss- and become the father his daughter needs and the man Laurel deserves?
