Read a Deleted Scene from Crista McHugh's THE QUEEN B* STRIKES BACK

goodreadstwitterfacebookwebsite

I was having trouble figuring out what to blog about for this release, so I decided to
give Fresh Fiction an exclusive snippet from a deleted scene. I had to cut it because
it was a place where exposing Alexisโ€™s fears wouldโ€™ve deflated a LOT of the tension in
the book. Alexis built that hard, prickly shell around herself for a reason, and at
the point where this scene had been, she wasnโ€™t ready to let down her guard with
Brett. Well, maybe she secretly was, but she wasnโ€™t ready to let him know that. So I
hope youโ€™ll enjoy this sneak peek at Alexis and Brett.

Read the Deleted Scene

โ€œIโ€™ve been hurt badly in the past. Iโ€™ve had someone I trusted stab me in the back, and
since then, I have a really hard time letting anyone get that close to me.โ€ I focused
my attention on the floor so I wouldnโ€™t have to see the pity or mocking or even that
joyful glee that heโ€™d gotten me to admit one of my secrets. โ€œI mean, it took me months
before I felt comfortable spilling my guts to Morgan and Richard, and theyโ€™re my best
friends.โ€

The silence that followed felt like an eternity, but when he finally said something,
it was as soft and tender as his fingers had been. โ€œIโ€™m not asking you to spill your
guts. Iโ€™m just asking you to join me for a meal. And Iโ€™m not out to hurt you.โ€

โ€œBut you could.โ€

โ€œYeah, I could, if I was an asshole.โ€ He tilted my chin up so I was forced to look at
him again. His face was a perfect presentation of pleading. โ€œDo you think Iโ€™m
asshole?โ€

I shook my head. Everything Iโ€™d learned about him over the last three weeks went
against that. Brett was a hot shot football star, a doting big brother, a guy who
quietly worked behind the scenes to make the school a better place. โ€œNo, youโ€™re more
along the lines of perfect, in your own little way.โ€

โ€œSo are you, Alexis Wyndham, in your own little way.โ€

About THE QUEEN B* STRIKES BACK

Alexis Wyndham isnโ€™t quite sure what to think about her โ€œfriendshipโ€ with star quarterback, Brett Pederson. Sure, he has more intelligence than the entire football team combined. Not to mention that fact heโ€™s a great kisser. When he asks her to help him with his college admission essays, she isnโ€™t sure if heโ€™s doing it to spend more time with her or if heโ€™s just using her for her brains. But after her nemesis, Summer Hoyt, makes it clear sheโ€™s not finished chasing after Brett, Alexis begins realize how hard sheโ€™s fallen for Brett. Now the war is on, and the head cheerleader will find out why she should never take on a Queen B*.

Re: Read a Deleted Scene from Crista McHugh's THE QUEEN B* STRIKES BACK

This book sounds like it's more of a teen book, or even a
young adult, and I hope I'm not wrong. Just reading the
excerpt alone, I wasn't sure about your book, but after
reading the synopsis, then I knew what your book was
really about!! It sounds like a fun romance story, with
its' share of twists, and being a mature reader, I have a
feeling I'm going to relive my High School days, even if
I wasn't one of the popular girls, or even got involved
with Football games!! That's a story for my own telling,
but I'm going to read yours nonetheless. Congratulations
on your latest book!!
