Ice cream as a personality test? Think I’m crazy? Well, just hear me out.

Plain chocolate lovers? They know what they like, and they don’t hesitate to
go
after it. They aren’t distracted by frivolous offerings such as caramel
swirls,
pecans, or brownie bites. They are driven and focused and not easily
distracted.

Then there’s the plain vanilla crowd. Conservative. They like to keep things
in life
honest and sweet. They embrace the simple pleasures and make no apologies
for it.
They’ve had the same friends for years and don’t need a wild party to have a
good
time. A good friend, a spoonful of vanilla and they’re happy as can be.

Rocky Road lovers have a wild side. They long for new adventures and are
always
looking for something fun and exciting to challenge the day-to-day boredom
of the
average life. Home, work, home, work…ad nauseaum drives them crazy.

Consulting Ben & Jerry’s® website, we discover their top five selling flavors of last year. 1 – Half Baked (vanilla, brownies & chocolate chip cookie dough)
2 – Cherry Garcia (cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge flakes)
3 – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough (enough said…)
4 – Chocolate Fudge Brownie (chocolate with chocolate brownies)
5 – Phish Food (Chocolate with marshmallow & caramel swirls & fudge)

Now, looking at this list, I’d say we, as a society, have a fudge addiction
problem
that is not being properly addressed. But don’t sign me up for treatment
just yet.
I’ll keep my Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, thank you very much! Chocolate as
therapy
works for me. :)

The hero in my newest sci-fi book, ALLIANCE, has a favorite ice cream flavor, too. And it helps him solve a riddle about a mysterious young lady he met when he was a mere boy of eleven. What’s that flavor? Mint Chocolate Chip. And what does that say about him? He’s a secret rebel, conservative and conventional to the outside world, but not afraid to take a risk or tell a jerk where to stick it. Which is a good thing, because he needs to do both of those things in my book, ALLIANCE, in order to help a certain time traveler save the world.

And when the world saving heroics are over? I’ll be the first in line to
treat him
to an ice cream.
