Old Town Alexandria, Virginia is a beautiful place. Located along the Potomac River, just
south west of Washington, DC, the colonial buildings and brick sidewalks are charming. Many of
the homes date back to the 1800’s. George Washington even walked the streets!

I had the good luck to live there once, and when I set my Domestic Diva Mystery series in Old Town, I was painfully aware of how close the homes are to the street. You can almost see right inside the houses! Old Town draws a lot of tourists, and I thought it would be cruel to pick out a house and give it to Sophie, my protagonist. What if readers looked for it? Can you imagine being the poor person who lived in that house?

Consequently, Sophie’s house and the block on which she lives are fictional. Yet every once in
a while, someone whispers to me that she knows which house belongs to Sophie! I assure those
people that the house is a figment of my imagination. I took parts of several houses that I
had seen in Old Town and pieced them together to create a home for Sophie.

Those familiar with Old Town will have a vague idea where her neighborhood is located but the only place it really exists is in the Domestic Diva Mystery.
