Hi Everyone,
My name is Shelley Shepard Gray and I’ve written a lot of books about the Amish. Some are sweet romances, some are family dramas, others lean a little bit darker and might seem a little bit edgier. That is where my new series from Revell is firmly set. This trilogy of novels all take place in Crittenden County, KY and feature both English and Amish characters. All the characters seem to have a few secrets, and there’s always an element of danger and suspense.
UNFORGOTTEN, my November release, is one of my favorites and I’m so excited to share more about the novel with you~one letter at a time!
U is for ‘Unforgiven’. It’s the first book in the series, and it’s where readers first meet this novel’s Amish heroine, Bethanne Hostetler.
N is for ‘Never Say Never’. The novel begins with Bethanne watching her English cousin compete in the Miss Crittenden County pageant. That was definitely something Bethanne never expected to do.
F is for ‘Fear’. Bethanne’s cousin Candice might look like she doesn’t have a care in the world, but she has a stalker and he’s getting very bold.
O is for ‘Overcome’. Years ago, Bethanne was assaulted. She’s had to overcome her fear of the outside world.
R is for ‘Ryan’. Ryan is the new cop in town assigned to escort Candace to her events and to be on the lookout for her mysterious stalker.
G is for ‘Guard.’ Officer Ryan Mulaney does his best to guard Candace. Unfortunately, his best isn’t enough.
O is for ‘Outsider’. The community in the book is close knit and friendly. But not everyone in the novel feels included or valued.
T is for ‘Taking Chances’. As the novel continues, two of the characters go missing. Everyone must take some chances in order to save them.
T is for ‘Trust’. Bethanne and her cousin Candace might seem very different, but they are very close. However, until one terrible night, they never had to put complete trust in each other in order to survive.
E is for ‘Enduring’. Throughout the novel, all four central characters are reminded about God’s enduring love.
N is for ‘New’. After Bethanne, Jay, Candace, or Ryan overcome a very difficult experience, they feel renewed and loved.
Well, that’s a little bit more about UNFORGOTTEN. It’s Amish, but not completely. It’s a romance with a whole love of suspense. It focuses on faith, but it focuses on trust and fear, too. It’s a lot of things, but in the end, I hope you’ll find it to be a good read most of all. That is always, always my goal.
Amish Romantic Suspense Story with Forgiveness and Second Chances
Even though Bethanne Hostetler has found some peace eight years after an attempted assault and the accidental death of Peter Miller, she is still haunted by the memory. When her Englisher cousin, Candace--who has just been crowned Miss Crittenden County--reveals that she has a stalker, all of Bethanne's old fears come rushing back.
Jay Raber had once been Peter's best friend, and the fact that he did not protect Bethanne that fateful night has haunted him ever since. To make matters worse, she continues to avoid him--even as he continues to love her. Jay can only hope and pray that one day Bethanne will see the person he is today and not the boy he used to be.
As Candace's stalker becomes bolder, Officer Ryan Mulany becomes her escort to various events. He knows he should only think of Candace as a job, but the more time they spend together, the harder it gets to maintain professional distance. And when everyone's worst fears are realized, all four must work together to prevent another tragedy before time runs out and another innocent person is hurt.
From New York Times bestselling author Shelley Shepard Gray comes this emotionally taut story of learning to forgive, trust, and love despite the pain of the past.
