Book Title: RESOURCEFUL (Portrait of a Woman #2)
Character Name: Zoe Robinson
How would you describe your family or your childhood?
I felt like an only child even though I wasn’t, but that didn’t stop me from having a great childhood. My grandmother raised me, and I lacked for nothing. I was on the cheerleading squad, and that’s where I met my best friends, Zoe Robinson, Harmony Jones, and Morticia Smith. Over twenty years later, and we’re still best friends, lifting each other up and supporting each other every step of the way.
What was your greatest talent?
I teach sensual massage for a living and own a full-service massage parlor with a wonderful staff.
Significant other?
My ex-husband, Bud Grant, was a construction worker who helped build Grammy’s house. His family was friends with my grandmother, so I took a chance on him. Big mistake! I don’t ever want to get married again.
Biggest challenge in relationships?
Everyone in my life that I have cared about has left me, so I don’t trust easily. I would rather push people away than risk getting hurt again.
Where do you live?
In an apartment above my spa in a small town in Massachusetts called Mayflower, after the state flower. It’s an old-fashioned town with set-in-their-ways citizens who adored my grandmother but aren’t so certain about me. Just because I teach sensual massage and have had a string of lovers doesn’t mean I’m not classy.
Do you have any enemies?
My grandmother passed away and left me her fortune. Suddenly my ex-husband shows up wanting even more alimony. He has been faking a disability ever since our divorce and blames me. Also, my birth parents and the twin that they kept show up, claiming to want a relationship with me. How convenient since they were left out of Grammy’s will. I don’t trust anyone, except my best friends, of course.
How do you feel about the place where you are now? Is there something you are particularly attached to, or particularly repelled by, in this place?
I’m still in Mayflower Massachusetts. My parents and sister are trying to make amends, and I’m confused for the first time. The only thing that keeps me sane is knowing I have my best friends to rely on.
Do you have children, pets, both, or neither?
No pets, but as my life spirals out of control after I turn forty, I find myself pregnant with twins by the legendary local Irish pub owner, Matthew McGinnis. He wants to get married and raise our children together. I find myself falling for Matt and want to trust him, but there are certain rumors I need to put to bed literally.
What do you do for a living?
I still own my own massage parlor, but I also have my grandmother’s charities to manage, a town’s respect to earn, a legend to solve, a man who wants and answer, and nurseries to set up. No pressure.
Greatest disappointment?
Realizing everything I knew about my grandmother might have been a lie.
Greatest source of joy?
Falling in love with the babies I’m growing before I even know them.
What keeps you awake at night?
Worrying about being a good mother and not missing out on someone who just might be the best thing to happen to me.
Portrait of a Woman #2
Tiffany Eisenhower—a divorced, independent massage therapist—hates change. When she finds herself the recipient of a hefty inheritance, getting sued for more alimony by her gold-digging ex, and pregnant with twins at 40 by the local Irish pub owner who has forever on his mind, a midlife crisis the size of her rapidly expanding abdomen ensues.
All she wants is to guard her independence, prove her ex is faking his disability, and cope with raising the twins she’d never planned to have as a single mom. She’s always been resourceful, but she’s having a hard time figuring out what to do this time.
Thank goodness for her weekly girls’ night with her best friends.
Divorced from a man who only used her, Tiffany vows to be the one doing the using and never trust another man with her heart. Only Matt McGinnis isn’t like any other man. He’s a family man, determined to make her part of his, and an irresistible legend. She’s finding it difficult to say no to the man who sports the Legend of the Tattooed Clover.
On top of all of that, the parents who never wanted her appear after her grandmother cuts them out of her will. Tiffany suddenly finds herself questioning what she thought she always wanted, and coming to the realization that she might not have to do everything alone. She must decide if she will stay independent, or allow herself to have and to hold what is right in front of her.
