1--What is the title of your latest release?
LOVE AT FIRST BOOK
2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?
Emily Allen, a librarian from Martha’s Vineyard, takes a job as the assistant to her favorite author in Ireland. Everyone is wonderful and welcoming except the handsome local bookshop owner, Kieran Murphy, who is also the author’s son. As much as they try to ignore the attraction between them, and they really do try, they simply can’t resist each other.
3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?
I wanted to travel to Ireland and writing a book set there seemed like a fine reason to go.
4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?
Absolutely. As a former librarian myself I know we’d be best friends immediately.
5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?
Smart, fierce, loyal.
6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?
That the ones we love never really leave us.
7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?
I wait until I’m done.
8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?
Cookies. It used to be cake, but I’ve discovered gourmet cookies and there’s no going back.
9--Describe your writing space/office!
Cluttered with books and cats with an ergonomic chair and a pleasing view of the yard.
10--Who is an author you admire?
There are so many! Too many to name. Truthfully, I admire anyone who can write an entire book and commit to the life of “author”. It’s not for the faint of heart.
11--Is there a book that changed your life?
Again, so many books helped shape me that it’s difficult to choose one but the first book I fell in love with as a child was The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.
My son had just been born and when the call came and the editor said she wanted to buy my book, I asked, “What book?” I was a touch sleep deprived. LOL.
13--What’s your favorite genre to read?
Mystery…no…romance…no…fantasy. Um…maybe all three all at once? Mysromantasy.
14--What’s your favorite movie?
Romancing the Stone, naturally.
15--What is your favorite season?
Autumn (I live in AZ – the end of the heat is glorious).
16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?
I just like to be with my family. I don’t care what we do so long as we’re together.
17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?
TV: The Gentlemen
Movie: Poor Things
Book: Emily Wilde’s Enyclopaedia of Faeries
Podcast: Mel Robbins
18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?
Mexican food in all it’s many varieties of yum.
19--What do you do when you have free time?
Play volleyball (the Hub and I are in a league) or do DIY projects. I love home improvement stuff.
20--What can readers expect from you next?
I am currently working on my first fantasy novel called BOOKS OF DUBIOUS ORIGIN, about a librarian who discovers she can raise the dead, coming in 2025.
When a librarian moves to a quaint Irish village where her favorite novelist lives, the last thing she expects is to fall for the author’s prickly son… until their story becomes one for the books, from the New York Times bestselling author of Summer Reading.
Emily Allen, a librarian on Martha’s Vineyard, has always dreamed of a life of travel and adventure. So when her favorite author, Siobhan Riordan, offers her a job in the Emerald Isle, Emily jumps at the opportunity. After all, Siobhan’s novels got Em through some of the darkest days of her existence.
Helping Siobhan write the final book in her acclaimed series—after a ten-year hiatus due to a scorching case of writer’s block—is a dream come true for Emily. If only she didn’t have to deal with Siobhan’s son, Kieran Murphy. He manages Siobhan’s bookstore, and the grouchy bookworm clearly doesn’t want Em around.
Emily persists, and spending her days bantering with the annoyingly handsome mercurial Irishman only makes her fall more deeply in love with the new life she’s built – and for the man who seems to soften toward her with every quip she throws at him. But when she discovers the reason for Kieran's initial resistance, Em finds herself torn between helping Siobhan find closure with her series and her now undeniable feelings for Kier. As Siobhan's novel progresses, Emily will have to decide if she’s truly ready to turn a new page and figure out what lies in the next chapter.
