Ginny Baird | Winner Takes All, But Two Hearts May Fall

amazonbookbubgoodreadstwitterfacebook

1--What is the title of your latest release?

LAST BRIDE STANDING (Majestic Maine Book 3)

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

After losing a bet with her sisters about finding true love, a woman’s prepared to bite the bullet and take an arranged marriage to save her family’s business, but the arrogant man doesn’t want to marry her after all, so she ups the ante with a larger wager - where winner takes all, but two hearts may fall.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

This is the third book in a trilogy set in the idyllic seaside town of Majestic Maine. I wanted to create a setting that was scenic yet homey so readers would feel welcomed there, and want to stay.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Definitely! (Both her sisters, too.)

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Headstrong, smart, sexy.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

That sometimes your characters surprise you, just as Charlotte did with her big breakthrough (aha moment) near the end.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

I try not to edit too much, lest I get bogged down in details and fail to move forward, but sometimes that’s hard to do, and I find myself rewriting the opening several times, just to get it right.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

Oh, so many! I love white chocolate truffles and red wine. Such a great - and decadent - combo!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I used to work in a dedicated office (converted from a bedroom), but then we moved to a new house filled with lots of light and inviting spaces, so I tend to migrate a lot, depending on my mood. I often write at the kitchen or dining room table or standing at the kitchen island when I need a change. I also enjoy sitting by a fireplace in colder months. We’re now blessed to have two! One in our living room, and another in our den.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Sophie Kinsella for her humor and Colleen Hoover for the amazing career’s she’s built.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Wuthering Heights in high school. It was the first work of fiction that gripped me.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

Oh wow, this was so much fun! My agent and I had been talking with my publisher about story ideas and the publisher had this great concept for a trilogy about three sisters trying to avoid a marriage of convenience. They asked if I was interested, and I leaped at the chance to develop a proposal. I have three daughters of my own, as well as three sisters, so executing the concept was a natural fit. When my agent called to say I’d gotten the deal, I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to get started.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

romantic comedies or mysteries/thrillers

14--What’s your favorite movie?

I realize some parts of it have not aged well, but for its core story message “Love Actually”.

15--What is your favorite season?

autumn

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With pizza, wine, and streaming a great rom-com.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

I got really hooked on “Murders Only in the Building” and can’t wait until it returns.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

My husband lived for a time in New Orleans and cooks amazing Cajun food. I vote for that! Especially when he’s doing the cooking, lol.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I like to spend time with my family (husband, kids, stepkids, and their significant others), eating good food and playing group games.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

A new Christmas rom-com called The Holiday Mix-Up releasing in October 2023.

Majestic Maine #3

Last Bride Standing

Opposites attract—and go head-to-head—in this cheerfully irresistible small-town romance.

With just ten days left till her folks’ loan comes due, ever-pragmatic Charlotte Delaney is officially throwing in the towel on the bet that she made with her sisters. It looks like it’s up to her to save their parents’ café and beloved home with a marriage of convenience to her family’s rival. It’s time to get the in-name-only nuptials over with. Of course, Charlotte’s never been one to easily admit defeat…

Aidan Strong has exactly zero intentions of marrying one of the Delaney sisters—even Charlotte, his first crush. He’s come to Majestic, Maine, to make things right…only Charlotte has other plans.

She’s challenging Aidan to a new wager. And the prize? His billion-dollar coffee empire. Now the tiny seaside town of Majestic is about to witness the ultimate game of hearts…and winner takes all.
