1--What is the title of your latest release?

THE REVENGE LIST

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

When Frankie Morgan loses her “forgiveness list” – the names of people who have wronged her in the past, and whom she could work to forgive – she thinks nothing of it. But as the people on Frankie’s list have increasingly serious accidents, Frankie knows she’s in trouble. She wrote her own name on the list because her past self is the one person she’ll never forgive, and if she doesn’t find out who’s behind the attacks, she might be next.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

I often set my books in Portland, Maine, because we drive through it when visiting family in New Brunswick. It’s beautiful!

4--Would you hang out with your protagonist in real life?

Yes! I think it would be very interesting to spend the day with Frankie (providing I don’t make her angry).

5--What are three words that describe your protagonist?

Protective, fierce, quick-tempered.

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

That anger is a valid emotion, just like any other. It’s not the anger, but how we handle it, that can be problematic.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

A little bit of both. I write a chapter and read it through once before moving on.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I’m Swiss, so it’s got to be chocolate – and cheese!

9--Describe your writing space/office!

I plot at the dining table, draft in the spare room, and edit at my desk in the office. The spare room has a lovely view on the court we live on, and it helps with creativity.

10--Who is an author you admire?

Jennifer Hillier and S.A. Cosby

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Creep by Jennifer Hillier. It made me cross over to the dark side of suspense! She’s an incredible author and one of my favorite people.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)/Or, for indie authors, when you decided to self-publish.

I was about to get my hair cut, and I jumped up and down in the middle of the street!

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Thrillers, rom-coms, historical fiction – depending on the mood.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

I have a few. Love, Actually. About Time. The Family Man. Inception. Interstellar.

15--What is your favorite season?

Spring, when everything awakens and is full of possibility.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

With my family

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Blackbird is incredible, and right now I’m loving Beef, and Physical.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I don’t have a favorite, but I love Thai, Indian, and Italian.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

Read (of course), movies, working out, and spending time with my family.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

My holiday romantic comedy, The Christmas Wager, publishes as Holly Cassidy in the fall of 2023. It’s about real-estate hot-shot Bella, who’s tasked with purchasing an old, failing Christmas store in the quaint little town of Maple Falls, which is nestled in the Colorado mountains. She thinks it’ll be easy…until she meets the owner’s stubborn but hunky grandson, electrician Jesse. Bella wants the store for next to nothing, Jesse refuses, and they end up competing in the town’s quirky annual Holiday Games. Sparks fly – as do snowballs – but will these rivals find love together? I’m excited to take you on a trip to Maple Falls this autumn!

Another thriller will release in 2024 and I’m unbelievably excited. We don’t have a title yet but it’s about the rise and violent demise of an all-female pop-rock group called The Bittersweet, when, after a fatal accident, one band member decides the group is now worth more dead than alive… I can’t wait to introduce you to my brand-new protagonist, drummer Vienna.

THE REVENGE LIST by Hannah Mary McKinnon

The Revenge List

They say life flashes before your eyes when you’re about to die. But all she could see was regret.

The people in Frankie Morgan’s life say she’s angry. Emotionally stunted. Combative. But really, who can blame her? It’s hard being nice when your clients are insufferable, your next-door neighbor is a miserable woman and the cowardly driver who killed your mother is still out living it up somewhere.

Somehow, though, she finds herself at her very first anger-management group session—drinking terrible coffee and learning all about how “forgiveness is a process.”

One that starts with a list.

Frankie is skeptical. A list of everyone who’s wronged her in some way over the years? More paper, please. Still, she makes the pointless list—with her own name in a prominent spot—and promptly forgets about it…until it goes missing. And one by one, the people she’s named start getting hurt in freak accidents, each deadlier than the last.

Could it be coincidence giving her the revenge she never dared to seek…or something more sinister?

If Frankie doesn’t find out who’s behind it all, she might be next.
