N.J. Walters | An Angelic Librarian and an Immortal Viking Assassin

blogbookbubamazongoodreadsfacebooktwitter

1--What is the title of your latest release?

HUNTER AVENGED, book 6 of the Forgotten Brotherhood series

2--What’s the “elevator pitch” for your new book?

An angelic librarian on the run and the immortal Viking assassin tracking her fight the growing attraction between them as they race against time to uncover the truth before they’re destroyed by forces more powerful than themselves.

3--How did you decide where your book was going to take place?

This book is part of a series so much of the groundwork had been laid before I began, but given their abilities, the hero and heroine end up in various locations around the world.

4--Would you hang out with your heroine in real life?

Absolutely. The chance to talk with an angelic librarian who can read and write any language would be fascinating.

5--What are three words that describe your hero?

Intelligent, honorable, tenacious

6--What’s something you learned while writing this book?

I learned about the city of Kathmandu, a place my characters visit, and that the powerlines hang low and are quite a hazard.

7--Do you edit as you draft or wait until you are totally done?

To get back into my work each day, I reread what I wrote during my last session. I’ll fix things as I go along, but overall I don’t edit until I’m totally done.

8--What’s your favorite foodie indulgence?

I’m not really a foodie, but I do enjoy an excellent dark chocolate.

9--Describe your writing space/office!

All my books, except two, have been written at a tiny desk in the corner of my living room. I prefer a desktop setup.

10--Who is an author you admire?

There are so many. If can only pick one, it would be Nora Roberts. Her work ethic is unrivaled, and her work keeps on getting better and better.

11--Is there a book that changed your life?

Surrender by Amanda Quick. I’d read mostly fiction and historical fiction until the late eighties when I discovered historical romance. After reading Surrender, I discovered the author also wrote as Jayne Ann Krentz, Stephanie James, Jayne Bentley, and Jayne Castle. It opened me up to the amazing world of category romance. Everything changed from there when I discovered authors like Linda Howard and Nora Roberts. I never looked back.

12--Tell us about when you got “the call.” (when you found out your book was going to be published)

Ebook publishers were new when I started. There was no Amazon—hard to believe now—and most mainstream publishers and the bulk of writers looked down on this new medium. I’d submitted a book to Ellora’s Cave because I’d read about them in Romantic Times Magazine. I remember getting a call from my then-husband at work saying I’d had an email from them. They were interested in my book but wanted me to add about 15K more words to the story. I was terrified, unsure I could do it, but I told them I could. Shortly after, I left my job in retail, got a contract, and never looked back.

13--What’s your favorite genre to read?

Romance. There are so many incredible subgenres. I switch around depending on my mood.

14--What’s your favorite movie?

The Crow. Real love never dies. Real love is forever. I watch this movie at least once a year.

15--What is your favorite season?

There’s something to enjoy in every season. While I LOVE the heat of summer, there’s something special about the colors and crisp air of autumn.

16--How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

I take myself out for breakfast. I’ll have a celebratory dinner, maybe see a movie.

17--What’s a recent tv show/movie/book/podcast you highly recommend?

Any book by Shelly Laurenston. I love her quirky sense of humor and originality.

18--What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

Breakfast anywhere. LOL I’m not big on fine dining but I love a good breakfast.

19--What do you do when you have free time?

I read, haunt thrift stores, spend time with family, and go to movies.

20--What can readers expect from you next?

I have a new werewolf trilogy in the works.

HUNTER AVENGED by N.J. Walters

Forgotten Brotherhood #6

Hunter Avenged

It’s taken Viking hunter Sven Knutson six frustrating months to find her. To track down the angel responsible for compromising the Forgotten Brotherhood and waking the drakon. She may be clever. Resourceful. But no one ever gets away from Sven. Ever.

All Rivka longed for as an angel was a chance to serve on Earth and help humans. Instead, it all went impossibly, horribly wrong, and she still doesn’t understand how or even why. All she knows is that she’s on the run--not only from Heaven’s dangerous elite guard, but also from the Brotherhood, who want answers.

She might just have to trust the immortal Viking whose icy blue eyes make her feel almost wickedly human. Because someone wants Rivka dead and the Brotherhood eliminated. Someone powerful enough to take on the most dangerous assassins who have ever lived. Someone who could unleash the fury of both Heaven and Hell. . . and Rivka is the key.
