Getting to Know Author Kosoko Jackson - Author of A DASH OF SALT AND PEPPER

twitterInstagram

Instead of trying to find your perfect match in a dating app, we bring you the “Author-Reader Match" where we introduce you to authors you may fall in love with. It's our great pleasure to present Kosoko Jackson!

Writes:

Rom-coms that feature Black male protagonists.

About:

Early 30s. Scorpio. Taylor Swift, Halsey, and Milkshake lover. Hails from the east coast. Loves Fantasy, YA and rom-coms. Movie junkie–always tries to see 100 movies a year; and fails. Have Golden Retriever, will travel.

What I’m looking for in my ideal reader match:

  • Romance lover.
  • LGBTQ friendly.
  • Small town aficionado.
  • Can quote The Devil Wears Prada, or Gilmore Girls.
  • Newly budding chef, or “professional home chef”.
  • A reader who won’t shy away from steam.

What to expect if we're compatible:

If we’re compatible, you should expect books with lots of heart, sass, pop culture references and love. My books take rom-coms and always try to address big world issues with a lot of emotion, love, and care. There is of course always a happy ending, but hopefully, my books will change how you look at the world at large! And help you find love along the way.

My Top 5 Movies of 2022

MISS HARRIS GOES TO PARIS

This is such a sleeper gem. It's based on a British children’s book and follows a cleaner who gets the chance to follow her dreams in Paris to buy an expensive dress. The movie is lighthearted, whimsical, filled with so much love and passion. It's a great way to just…forget about the world.

EMILY THE CRIMINAL

Who doesn’t love Aubrey Plaza? I think this might be her best role, focused on a woman who is down on her luck because of student loans, and who gets involved in a life of crime. Sign me up! This is a real millennial story, and it hits so close to home.

SHE SAID

The trend to have biopics about newspapers thriving will always get me. Spotlight is one of my favorite movies, so when I heard we were doing a movie about the journalist who brought Harvey Weinstein down? I knew I had to see it. Carrey Mulligan is exceptional in it, as she is in everything, and this is a nail-biting thriller, even though we know how it ends.

TAR

Lesbian Cate Blanchett? In pants suits? YES. This movie is long, and a bit slow, but it is truly thrilling. I can’t say much about it without spoiling it, but know Cate is at her prime here and I love her so, so much for it.

BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER

I’m going to say it, Wakanda Forever is better than the original. It pays homage to Chadwick and Black Panther, lets the women of Wakanda shine, and tells another nuanced tale of race, power, and thrills without sacrificing anything. I’ve seen it twice and I’m absolutely going to see it again.

A DASH OF SALT AND PEPPER by Kosoko Jackson

A Dash of Salt and Pepper

Xavier Reynolds is doing less than stellar. He just got dumped, was passed over for a prestigious fellowship, and to top it all off he's right back home in Harper's Cove, Maine (population: 9,000). The last thing he wants to do is to work as a prep chef in the kitchen of the hip new restaurant in town, The Wharf. Especially since the hot, single-father chef who owns it can’t delegate to save his life.

Logan O’Hare doesn’t understand Xavier or why every word out of his mouth is dipped in sarcasm. Unfortunately, he has no choice but to hire him—he needs more help in the kitchen and his tween daughter, Anne, can only mince so many onions. It might be a recipe for disaster, but Logan doesn’t have many options besides Xavier.

Stuck between a stove and a hot place, Logan and Xavier discover an unexpected connection. But when the heat between them threatens to top the Scoville scale, they’ll have to decide if they can make their relationship work or if life has seasoned them too differently.

Re: Getting to Know Author Kosoko Jackson - Author of A DASH OF SALT AND PEPPER

Logan and Xavier uncover an unanticipated connection while
trapped between a stove and a heated area. They will have to
determine whether they can make their relationship work or
if life has seasoned them too differently when the heat
between them threatens to reach the highest point on the
Scoville scale.
