Hey There! Leslie Langtry here to tell you about my book MEMORIES ARE MURDER – book #24 in the Merry Wrath cozy comedy series! The books can be read in any order, but if you want to start at the beginning, there’s MERIT BADGE MURDER.

Merry Wrath was a CIA agent undercover with a Chechen strongman when the Vice President “accidentally” outted her on CNN to get back at her senator dad. After a close-call escape that included an armed chicken, Merry retired to her hometown of Who’s There, Iowa, where her best friend convinces her to start a Girl Scout troop. In some ways, Merry often wonders if life was less dangerous in the CIA than with this very precocious group of little girls.

Unfortunately, sometimes her past comes back to haunt her… Here’s a little bit about MEMORIES ARE MURDER:

M is for Memories – and not the misty water-colored kind, but more like the, “Huh, I probably shouldn’t have tried to kill that guy in Colombia because now he’s here and it’s sorta awkward” kind.

E is for Engineering – such as when Betty modifies the troop’s sparkly drone to add a flamethrower.

M is for Merry Wrath – whose CIA past leads to tricky complications that makes retirement to her hometown a smidge murdery.

O is for Olaf the goat, friend of Big Ankle, who makes a cameo appearance.

R is for Rex, Merry’s patient, detective husband who’s a keeper because he doesn’t roll his eyes every time she stumbles over a dead body.

I is for Iowa – or rather, Who’s There, Iowa…Home of the Fighting Whorish (a somewhat unfortunate combination of the town name and Irish settlers who founded it).

E is for Expecting – Merry’s twin sisters-in-law are expecting and they expect Merry to keep it a secret.

S is for Sugar Lips’ Feeling Lucky House of Delights – an ice cream parlor in Who’s There where the confections have names like the ever popular, Is That a Banana In Your Pants Banana Split.

A is for A lot of Hamsters…51 in fact, all named Hamlet. That’s right. They’re back.

R is for Riley, Merry’s former CIA handler, who takes time from his impeccable grooming habits and womanizing to warn Merry that a Colombian drug lord is in town.

E is for Explosion – which when combined with finding a body on the same day, ruins any chances of Merry ever having friends in her neighborhood.

M is for Marijuana – which is suddenly flooding the whole county.

U is for Unbelievable – like the time Betty created a FB page for the Cult of Nicoderm and accidentally ended up summoning a demon named Willard.

R is for Ron & Ivan - the Chechen buttheads turned brothers-in-law who promise, in the event of Merry’s unfortunate demise, to avenge her.

D is for Dead Body – there’s always one within Merry’s vicinity for some reason…

E is for Elena – a mysterious little girl in Bladdersly – Home of the Raging Bladders (another rather unfortunate name).

R is for the Russian Oligarchs and latch-hook rugs… It’s sort of complicated.

Merry Wrath Mysteries #24

Memories Are Murder

From USA Today bestselling author Leslie Langtry comes a hilarious mystery that will leave you laughing 'til you cry...

It’s been years since ex-CIA agent Merry Wrath was undercover with Carlos the Armadillo in Colombia. So why is Teo the Tapir suddenly in Who’s There, Iowa looking for her? Merry and Teo were not on the best terms back then, especially after he attempted to blow her up. Is he in town to get revenge, or is he telling the truth about wanting to retire and let bygones be bygones?

It's a question that becomes much more important when a mutual colleague is murdered in Merry’s garage. Suddenly Merry wonders if Teo did it to frame her. As usual, this isn’t a great time for a dead body, since Merry is having trouble teaching her troop to use drones responsibly, her twin taxidermist sisters-in-law are trying to keep Merry from spilling their big secret, there are rumbles of a sexist schism in the teenage Cult of NicoDerm and there’s an issue involving fifty-one hamsters that needs to be resolved—like now!

Can Merry keep it together long enough to discover the truth about Teo? Or are some memories too deadly to hold onto?
